I'm not used to jerky actually meeting the spice. Probably a 3/5 spice unless you're used to it. I like the burn there's a burn for me. The jerky is good, but it's definitely hotter than those used to peppered jerky.

finally! a beef jerky that doesn't have sugar in it! not only good for snacking, but minced up finely to add to gravy to make creamed chipped beef (hard to find dried chipped beef, and when I do, it's very expensive). great product.
