It works awesome. Too awesome for my 40 gallon pond. The product listing says 40-150 gallon. It’s waaaay to powerful for anything under 75 gallons. The water movement is too great for the fish and they suffer as a result. This unit needs a ton of water space then add lots of decora or rocks situated in house shapes to make hidey holes the fish can go in when they need a break. The jet is powerful and it moves the water too well. The problem is you can only turn the flow down to a set amount which was still too much for my pond. It’s really perfect for an extra large setup though and I can totally recommend it for that. The filters are mega and the filtration system kicks major butt. It has two monster filters that easy to remove, wash clean and put back in. It is a really great thing…..for a large set up only. In my case, I have to return it but as a lifelong fish tank owner, I can say it’s a fantastic product. So winner winner chicken dinner if you have a very large setup and need a system to accommodate it. For smaller setups, keep looking. ... show more

I ordered this filter and it was lost in transit, so I cancelled the order and reordered. In the end I was charged for 2 filters, but only received one. My transaction was noted as cancelled through Amazon; however, there was no way to receive a refund. I contacted the seller and was able to get refunded for the lost/cancelled item. I'm using this filter in an outdoor 300 gallon pond. It is very powerful (I originally ordered the next level up, but it was too strong for the pond and I had to return it) and was able to clean up an algae bloom quickly. It's super easy to take apart and clean. I highly recommend this filter for a larger (200-200 gallon) tank or pond. ... show more

The unit was larger than i expected and the flow is higher than expected. I mean this thing moves a lot of water. If you have a tiny tank or pond this is not the unit for you. I brought my Koi indoors for winter, this unit is perfect for my needs. Once in the tank in my garage they expelled tons of poo, this filter picked got it all. I cleaned it after two day of use and the water quality has stayed clean and clear. the bubbler function works only if you arent limiting the pump flow., otherwise it turns into a squirt gun. ... show more

I purchased the 40 gallon for my 29 gallon, it's wide open west. I have two goldfish. They range 6-7 inches with fins in length. My two Tonka Trucks. This filter, the amount of power if pointed directly at them, could blow their scales off. If you have small fish and a tank under 100 gallons, probably unwise to purchase/use this. You could kill them. A turtle, naw, pass, Live turtles aren't like the ones in Nemo, No. I can't figure out where the filtration is actually working. I have had it running for 2 days. I took it apart to view the filters. There is a hole (window) where you can see inside the two casings. Nothing. Zero debris. My Tonka's are messy, they are constant waste makers. Where is the filtering? what is it filtering? or is it just a high volume water shooter? The tubing that came with it, kinked, crap. The poor quality whatever it is to put on the tubing (?) It's not a valve that I can see. You don't turn it, for flow control. What purpose it serves, I am clueless. I see images in reviews, people have it outside their tank, again Shrug. The suction cups cause irritation and anger, they are flimsy, and a TASK to put on. You cannot control the flow. What I did put on the end of the tubing, experimenting is a round ball air stone. It seemed to help. It's either full blast or it's dead when you alter the tube. I don't know. It's stress I could do without. Does it benefit my tank, I have no answers. If you have a Large capacity tank, want a wave maker, this should def do the job. I am going to search for an alternative, this is too much frustration, I do not want my fish injured. ... show more

I’ve been good about cleaning this filter every other week and it kept the water super clear in my tank for about 5 months. Now I found the impeller pin (??) has fallen out and nothing works. Super bummed. Will try another since it did work well on the beginning

I have had a 100 gallon aquarium for last 16 years. I have gone through about 6-7 filters due to hard water. This is the easiest filter to set up and clean out. No buying expensive replacement filter. Clean out takes 5 minutes in the sink. It adds a lot of air to the water and does a good job cleaning up. I have had it in for about a month now and love it. Caution- don’t buy too big for you tank. It does have a powerful jet to move a lot of water. Too much pressure in a small area can over stress your fish. Place it to one side of your tank so there are areas that don’t have strong currents to give fish a break and/or add areas(coves, plants, coral, decorations, for the fish to get out of the current. ... show more
