  • No Cloud or Subscription Required
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
My favorite feature of this doorbell is that you can save videos to an SD card in the (included) hub. You don't need a subscription. The provided mounting instructions, templates, and adhesive made it reasonably straightforward to mount. Once installed, it provides a decent quality video image, reliable doorbell (at least with my nearby WiFi), and a usable app to get notifications. I used the two-way audio occasionally, and it seems to work fine, but I don't use it very often. The battery has lasted a couple of months so far, probably due for a charge, which seems like I'll have to figure out how to take down the doorbell again, but I'm happy enough with the battery life. We don't have a huge amount of door traffic, but if we did, perhaps I'd recommend a wired version (which is also less bulky and less expensive, but requires installation of a cable). The lens is very wide-angle, and for our installation, I think I might prefer more zoomed in pictures of faces, but it's still completely acceptable. I like it enough to get a second one for our back door. ... show more

  • Worth it.
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
This camera is awesome. Super easy to set up. Excellent picture quality. The battery lasts well especially if you use the settings so it doesn’t go off at every leaf or bug that goes by. I already had a Tapo camera inside so adding it in to my account was super easy. For the money this is definitely worth the buy. ... show more

  • Works well, especially for the price
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
I was concerned that a battery operated doorbell camera wouldn't work well, but it has. The battery lasts a long time, and when someone rings the bell, my phone rings, our Amazon Firestick alerts us, and the door bell rings, so there's no way we can miss the door. So far, about a year into this, I have two minor complaints. 1. A simple, cheap design thing. In order to recharge the battery, you need to take the front part of the bell off to reveal the battery. They supply a little tool much like you get for SIM card replacement. I have a ton of trouble getting the little pin down that hole and getting the front off. I actually let me wife do it because I run out of patience. Not a good design. 2. I never set it up but as I mentioned, it interrupts my Amazon Firestick to tell me someone is at the door, but the video window never populates. Not sure why, I can't figure that out. Otherwise, the device has done what I need, the video quality it good, and they don't require a cloud service to store video, instead the Bell's hub, which is in my house has a MicroSD card. ... show more

  • Simple to use
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
I got the Tapo D230S1 doorbell camera for myself, and I’ve honestly been really happy with it. The video quality is super clear—it’s 2K, so you can actually see people’s faces in detail, and the wide-angle view shows everything from head to toe, even if someone’s standing close to the door. What really surprised me is the color night vision. Most doorbells just show grainy black-and-white at night, but this one actually gives you a clear, colored image, even in low light. The battery lasts a long time, which is great because I didn’t want something I’d constantly have to recharge. And the motion detection is pretty smart—it knows when it’s a person and not just a car driving by. I also like that it sends alerts if someone tries to mess with it, which gives a little extra peace of mind. The two-way audio is really useful too—I’ve used it a bunch of times to talk to delivery drivers when I’m not home. Setup was super simple, and it works smoothly with Alexa. No subscriptions, no headaches—just a solid, well-designed smart doorbell that does exactly what I need. Definitely recommend it if you want something reliable without spending a fortune. ... show more

  • A horrible doorbell camera I would recommend nobody buy.
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
Where do I start? It has horrible battery life it lasted about a week. Its doorbell has to be connected to an Ethernet cable which means the doorbell is stuck in the master bedroom where the router is. AND MOST OF ALL the recording function is completely useless. It doesn't have 24/7 recording and only records when it detects movement. More like if it even detects movement as it has horrible movement detection. As do all their cameras. We use some other tapo cameras. The picture quality is decent for the price and we don't care as much about movement detection for those. But with a doorbell cam that records based off what it detects? It definitely matters. The camera only recorded 2 events the whole day. With constant people being in our front yard. What set off the recording? Not the people but two specs of dust that flew by the camera. TLDR the camera only records during movement detection and it does a bad job at detecting movement. Battery life is about a week and it's non reliable ... show more

  • Incomplete kit – incompatible power adapter included
Style: Battery Powered, w/ Chime
The product itself seems to be of good quality, but the kit is NOT complete as it should be. The doorbell battery charges via USB-C; however, the included power adapter has a completely different connector (round tip), making it incompatible and impossible to use as indicated in the instructions. This forces the user to rely on external chargers just to operate the device, which should not be necessary for a product marketed as a “complete kit.” This is a significant issue in the product packaging and can create unnecessary confusion and inconvenience. I recommend the seller review this detail, as it directly affects the customer experience. For this reason, I cannot give a higher rating. ... show more
