They looked great in the picture -but not so great in person. They are going back. They don't come with screws which is a real pain since the hinge is already painted. I guess I didn't pay attention to the thickness measurement -I would have never bought them. They are VERY thin; to thin for anything of any practical weight. Only good for small craft projects. They came wrapped in an elastic band. I guess they banded them just after they were painted; the top and bottom hinge have ribbed lines in the paint so two of them look bad. Also, the short side of the hinge just not wide enough for anything of real size/weight. The screw holes are centered on a 3/4" surface so it's VERY close to the edge. I would not even try to use these on a small chest as I would think they are likely to tear out or fracture the wood. Other than for a small craft project, I would not recommend. ... show more

POSTSCRIPT: T & B resolved the matter below to my complete satisfaction. And I have learned to double check dimensions and other specs when buying something that I cannot physically grasp in my paws. Well, shame on me. I am used to the 4" dimension being the length of the hinge pin, not the overall "reach" of a hinge. I think that is the routine for specing any hinge. If you read the fine print (I did it post mortem) they do describe the dims in metric. That seems interesting since the other dims are in inches so I feel somewhat misled. They are good for nothing but a music box lid and too cheap to return so I'll just chuck em. ... show more
