The fan is plastic, light weight & easy to install in an existing box. It looks good and the fan moves a lot of air and so far is very quiet. The light is not dimmable by my standard. It has three light settings, but is still bright.

I like this fan so much that we just installed the second one. We have similar looking Minka-air's in 3 rooms and this fan in 2. So far, I like it as much as my more expensive Minka-airs, but only time will tell if it lasts nearly as long as. Husband installed the first one without any cussing or swearing. The second one he installed in minutes. Most of the connections just plug together, except for the connection to the power. It really moves the air. So far I've only used it on the1 or 2 setting and that it is plenty for my small rooms. The light is nice and bright, which is great in my sewing room. (I actually bought this fan because the reviews said the light was bright. I am not disappointed). I like that you can reverse the fan direction with the remote. It is so quiet on 1 or 2 setting that I don't hear it all. It's not noisy on 6 but I can hear the air moving (and move it does). The remote also has a timer on it for 1, 2, or 4 hrs (and it works). Was disappointed in the fact that every time you turn the light on you have to cycle through the different light options to get to the setting you like, it should remember the last setting and it would be nice if there was a dimming option. I just disconnected the light, fan works great and it looks nice, if I find that I miss the light option I will replace the whole unit. ... show more
