  • Thermal camera

Great camera

  • Underwhelming
Color: Light Black
Setup instructions are very minimal. Once you figure it out, the device itself is easy to use, but the app required is not the one you’d expect, which adds unnecessary confusion. The effective range is also far less than I anticipated. While you can see heat signatures at a distance, identifying what you’re actually looking at requires being much closer. For example, at around 10 feet you can clearly tell what an object is, but at roughly 40 feet I could only see heat signatures without being able to identify them. I could tell my kittens were present, but not distinguish what I was seeing. ... show more

  • So much fun with this tool
I decided to test this out simply for the fun of it, rather than any actual need, and then the next thing I know, I am spending hours roaming my backyard and woods nearby just to see what I might have found. I was pleasantly surprised with the range. I was able to spot defined shapes well beyond the property line. It also always seemed to point out wildlife, even in complete darkness. It felt extremely accurate and reliable as a tool, and I found the compact shape very convenient. ... show more

  • A great thermal cam for the outdoors
You know, I picked up this thermal gadget hoping it would be useful, and it actually surpassed what I thought it could do. Connecting it to my phone was a breeze, and the connection is really stable—much smoother than I expected from something like this. The clarity is fantastic, whether I'm using it during the day or completely in the dark. I took it out looking for wildlife, and it spotted creatures exactly where the stated range said it would. It's accurate. It just clips right onto my phone without any fuss, and getting the app set up took no time at all. Adjusting the focus is smooth, and because it’s so light, keeping it steady is easy. I spent a few evenings testing it in the backyard, and it picked up clear shapes from far away. It’s seriously neat technology. Even if you aren't hunting, it's fun to bring along on a hike or while birdwatching. Considering the cost, the performance feels like a really solid piece of equipment, especially if you enjoy exploring after dark or need it for field use. The battery ran for a couple of hours straight without any hitches or slowdowns, too. ... show more

  • Great thermal camera
Easy to set up, good directions. Works great, easy to use.

  • Too many annoyances for the price
I have a fee different themalmaster cameras, and this is unfortunately my least favorite. The manual focus is a bit cumbersome. It's difficult to know which direction you need to turn to bring the image into focus and i usually end up going the wrong way and waste time. This is also the only camera (out of 5 models I have tried) that I cannot plug directly into my phone with the case on. All other units I have been able to do this with my thin phone case no problem. So if you are hoping to plug the camera directly into your phone, you will need to remove your phone case every time, or choose a different model. The hand grip is a bit annoying. You would expect the phone grip to be spring loaded, but it is threaded. This is important because it takes 1000 little turns of the screw to expand it enough to hold my phone, and then when im done, it no longer fits in the case, so 1000 more turns to clamp it all the way down for storage. And for the icing on the cake: The rifle mount. Honestly the main reason I chose this model. Absolutely zero instructions how to use it. Not even a picture for reference. And in hindsight, once you have the optic mounted, if you ever figure it out, you still need to find a way to mount your phone to the firearm as well, which is not included. The camera itself does work really well and I do like the app. And you can get some really good images. It also comes with a top notch case. But all of the other usability complaints mean that ultimately it will spend a lot of time in that case. Iverall, Considering the price, I recommend you consider other options. ... show more
