    • Does what it's supposed to do!
I have been using more and more ice lately, and became tired of using ice trays. We have a refrigerator with an ice maker, however we don't trust the filter. We use an Alkaline Water machine that also produces clean filtered water, in addition to using 2 pre-filters. So my honey researched countertop ice makers for 3 days (he does this for any major purchase and can always be counted on for the best recommendations), and decided on this ice maker. This particular ice maker won out for its heavy-duty build, quality, and size and the warrantee and return policies. Upon reading reviews and questions, the smaller units were much less dependable overall. Yes, it was pricier than most countertop units, but we firmly believe you get what you pay for. We've had it for about a month and here's my review up to this time: Pros: Heavy duty, stainless steel body and thicker-wall construction. It operates much the same as the others, produces bullet shaped ice "cubes" and takes about an hour and 15 min give or take for one "batch" which is made after filling the ice maker to the appropriate level. I use only our filtered water, not Alkaline because the minerals in Alkaline water would collect and damage the parts. There is a basket for the cubes, some of the cubes end up on one side or on top of the ice crusher (another feature I will discuss) but no big deal, just move them into the basket. I let ice go into the basket maybe 3 times then empty it into the freezer, as this is not a freezer so some of the first cubes will melt somewhat. After it has used all the water for the "batch" it will beep and a red light goes on, I either unplug the machine or add more to make another "batch". Some reviewers complained about this and other ice makers making "wet" ice that clumps together in the freezer - it does but it just takes a second to loosen the cubes up. Not an issue for me. We also use a wall adaptor for the plug so we can switch the power on and off at the wall and not have to unplug/plug in the machine every time. We have an LG French door with freezer in the bottom drawer, it came with a large bin for the ice maker. Two batches from this machine will fill the bin about 2/3 of the way full. Very easy to use and the ice cubes will soften nicely and are wonderful for chewing! I was getting a little worried about cracking a tooth eventually with my new love of chewing ice but not anymore! The ice crusher - makes what they call "shaven" ice - this is a feature I probably won't use but it works great, just like advertised. Snow-cone or Margarita slushy ice consistency. Great if you have kids around in the summer! (I mean the snow-cone part.) There is some level of noise, especially when the ice is being moved into the basket, but not a problem for us. Cons: The Cons really don't have anything to do with function. The first: The packaging. The machine came well packaged in two boxes with corner protectors. But the stainless steel body of the machine came wrapped in a white plastic that would have been ok except it was clearly applied before the final pieces - top and handles, which resulted in little pieces of plastic sticking out from the top/sides. We eventually got them off with a toothpick. Also, on the front of the machine just around the control panel and brand name, the plastic had been ripped off so at that point there was sticky plastic residue from the ripped edges that we had to carefully clean off. Weird. Manufacturers need to change all that. The last Con is that there is a drain under the machine flush with the bottom. Great for if you can place your machine right next to the sink, but not everyone can. My honey was an engineer and can fix anything, so he tried to attach an elbow/tubing so we can drain it where it sits on our counter (far from the sink) but he didn't have the right fittings. I think you would only need to drain it if you decided to clean it, and I haven't done that yet (not using it every day). So we will have to pull it out over the counter and drain it into a bucket if he can't find the right fittings. As far as I'm concerned not an issue, but we don't want to be moving or tilting it too much because of the coolant.     • Family loves the shaved Ice
While the 1st unit came DOA and a small misunderstanding, They quickly shipped a new one. Can't wait to get the water line hooked up. But have been using it by manually adding water. It would be nice if it was a bit more insulated, but the ice doesn't melt no where as close as my other brand. The shaved ice add on was a total hit with my entire family, despite the fact that you have to manually pour the ice into the ice shaver. Unit is a bit big and has to be set to the edge of the cabinet so you can open the top door. If you have the space, I would definitely recommend this unit. The Sycees ice maker is essential in my house. My family and our guests all love it and I recommend it to all of my loved ones. I bought this machine over a year ago and it has been extremely reliable and I have never had an issue with it before. I had a guest come over to my house who did not know how to properly use the machine & this resulted in one of the hinges breaking. I contacted Sycees customer service and they were extremely quick and helpful in getting this resolved without confusing instructions or anything like that. I plumbed in the water line and provided filter, remember to flush the filter before hooking it up. This machine makes ice all day without missing a beat. Capacity is great for even a small party. Haven't tried the shaved ice, but the machine is nice. It makes some noise, but not any worse than the old small machine we had. ... show more

TIhe product would be great in good condition. You don’t pay 243.00 for a product already damaged. I am disappointed that I was expected to return this item at my cost. It cost 65.00 to ship this Item. I want my shipping cost returned as well as the cost for the merchandise.

    • Love Sycees 2 in 1 Ice Maker !!!
This was a gift for my daughter and her family. They love it!!! They are happy with the size of the ice maker and sturdiness. Especially they love that it makes ice fast and it has the ability to crush the ice. Iced beverage is important to her partner and it has made quite a difference. They have an older fridge with no ice maker so it was the store every week and half to get ice. Those days are gone and now with the summer heat it has become a blessing.
