Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Samsung refrigerator has received mixed reviews, demonstrating both satisfactory performance and notable shortcomings. Customers appreciated its basic functionality, cooling speed, and the absence of unnecessary features like an external water/ice dispenser. However, issues with components like the compressor and freezer thermistor have caused significant inconvenience, leading to some units failing prematurely. An external thermometer was recommended for monitoring, and while a DIY fix was possible for the thermistor, overall reliability remains a concern.

Pros

  • 🥶 Cools very fast
  • 🔧 Basic but functional design, focusing on core refrigeration needs
  • ❄️ Some models lack external water/ice dispensers, aligning with preferences for simpler appliances
  • 🌡 Successful DIY fix for the freezer issue with an aftermarket thermal sensor

Cons

  • 🛠 Early failure of critical components like the compressor and thermal sensor
  • ❄️ Freezer temperature inconsistency leading to excessive freezer burn
  • 🔄 Difficulty in obtaining replacement parts and high frequency of service calls
  • 📉 Overall reliability and longevity concerns

Should I Buy It?

If you value simplicity and fast cooling and are willing to potentially navigate maintenance challenges, you might find value in this Samsung refrigerator. However, given the reported reliability issues, considering alternative brands or models with better reviews on durability and customer service support might be advisable. Those particularly handy or willing to undertake occasional DIY fixes could be more forgiving of its flaws.

  • Love it!
Very nice, basic refrigerator. Cools very fast! I hesitated making such a large purchase through Amazon, but have had zero issues with delivery or the appliance. Only snag is I am having a hard time registering it with Samsung. They defaulted my country of origin to India and can’t change it.

  • Fridge seems great - dented door though
Overall, the fridge seems to be working fine and is exactly what we wanted...except the door is dented. Fortunately, this is going in our garage so it'll still work for us, but if we were putting this in our kitchen, it'd be unacceptable.

  • never buy Samsung fridges, ever!!!! check the internet first. You will regret it, I did!
Samsung fridges are horrible! They have a very serious design defect. Check the internet, you will see how many complaints there are over there. There is even an ongoing class action, which I have recently learned about and am trying to become part of. The main problem with the fridge is that it cannot defrost properly. Then the fan motors, icemaker get covered up with ice and the fridge starts breaking. Sometimes it is a fan motor, sometimes the condensor, sometimes some other part. My icemaker is broken, it requires $400 plus to repair it. But repairing is not a solution. Since the problem is more fundamental and nothing to do with the icemaker itself, it will break again with a year or so, and some other parts, too. This happened with our fridge, it happened with our friends' Samsung fridge. And it happens to every single Samsung cunstiomer everyday, Just check out the internet. There is no exception. Unfortunately, Samsung is not standing by its product. Just for this reson, I have stopped buying any Samsung product, switched to another brand of phone, TV. No more Samsung in my house, and I tell my experience to everybody I meet. Many of my friends stopped buying Samsung as well after hearing my experience and their own search on the internet. ... show more

  • I hate this refrigerator!
I purchased this product at my local appliance store, and I regret it. Although I haven’t had many issues other owners have had, there are several annoying features. First off, the flap on the left hand door doesn’t fold back all the way, so if I’m closing the doors and the right one is ahead of the left, the flap on the left door will hit the right. Secondly, the cheese drawer at the bottom that spans the width of the fridge will not shut straight without two hands and several tries. This is probably due to the fact that there is no guide for the only wheel, which is located on the bottom of the drawer in the center. Without a guide, any imbalance of weight inside the drawer causes it to track left and right, even with two hands on the drawer! What a pain. Thirdly, the temperature gauge is off. We set the inner fridge temp to the suggested temp and all of our veggies froze. We have lowered the inner temp one degree at a time until we’re finally at 40 degrees and we still get partially frozen veggies and ice in our water. I wish I could return it!! ... show more

  • SAMSUNG RF28T5001SR 28 Cu. Ft. S/S Refrigerator With Ice Maker Inside Freezer Drawer
UPDATE: PLEASE NOTE MOST NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE INTENDED FOR (Certain) UNITS WITH WATER/ICE DISPENSERS ON THE DOOR. This unit only has the ice dispenser in the freezer compartment. I just bought this Samsung RF28T5001SR model since it has NO water or ice dispenser on the doors and no water dispenser inside the fridge--features I do not need or want. The ice maker is inside the freezer drawer. For those like myself who do not need ice, I can disconnect it by pressing a button after it has performed two or three ice cycles. An ice tray can do the trick for those who use little ice. After going over several brands I concluded that while all seemed to have big or small issues and complaints, some reviews reflected on defects pertaining to other model(s)--not the one being viewed. Concerned about this unit's reviews, I noticed that many of the bad ones rightfully pertained to specific models with different features. I am giving this refrigerator a tentative five stars until I have tested its performance for at least a month and then after a longer period of time. At those times, the rating will be confirmed or updated. Fair is fair. ... show more

  • Search the fact that Samsung sells Fridges with KNOWN Defects
Do not buy a Samsung fridge. They have had known DEFECTS since 2006 and haven't recalled. It is hard to get them to be honest when your request repairs - they have the "office of the president" call you- it's really a call center. They will switch refund amounts, they will make you pay for repairs when the DEFECT is not a warranty issue. It is a KNOWN Defect and should be fixed or refunded by SAMSUNG, Search Youtube for news stories on the class action suit and recalls for Samsung Refrigerators. Know what you are getting into. DO NOT BUY ANY SAMSUNG Refrigerators. Mine flooded my kitchen floor that had only been installed 5 months earlier. Samsung refuses to repair my fridge even though they agree that it needs to be fixed. • Design Defects Samsung Fridge
Samsung has no business making refrigerators. Anyone thinking about buying one needs only to search YouTube and look at the multitude of videos about the icing problem. I bought one several years ago and have spent the last year taking it apart monthly to de-ice the fan in the fridge section. Such a pain. There is no fix. These idiots even refuse to acknowledge there’s a problem. Unless you just like to unload all the contents of your fridge once a month and play repairman, don’t even think about buying this piece of crap. ... show more
