    • Really nice electric pole saw and chainsaw for a good price!
I am very impressed with this electric convertible pole saw and chainsaw for it's price. It cuts very well. Although it's mostly plastic, it seems well built. Clever and simple design to go from pole saw to chainsaw and visa-versa. It is a little top heavy with the chainsaw mounted on top of the pole when extended, but manageable; would be nice to have a shoulder support strap. I live in a neighborhood with a home owners association that requires the home owner to trim their trees and branches away from streets for delivery vehicles 15-20 ft up and up from the yard ground for yard care riding lawn mower or get fined and penalized. And it's just better looking. It cost around $100 - $200 or more to have tree trimming done every time and they need trimming every month and a half to 2 months, sometimes more here in Florida except in the short winter months. So, if you're able and willing to use a pole saw and chainsaw, you can save a lot of money. And of course we get storms with high winds and hurricanes where branches need to be trimmed and cut up. This pole saw has worked very well to trim branches that are higher up and then remove the pole and use its chainsaw to chop up the branches into 4 ft or smaller pieces for local yard pick up. Two devices in one, very nice. I chose this electric corded pole saw and chainsaw because I didn't want to mess with gas and oil and their noise and most of the cordless electric pole saws and chainsaws currently have short runtimes like 15 minutes to half an hour before they need recharging which is not long enough for my tasks. Obviously, you must be careful with the long electrical cords, but otherwise this is a great tool. I did have to tighten the chain guard and chain a couple of times, and the chain came off twice due to my usage, but those tasks were quick and easy to do with this. I found it strange that the lubricating oil fill hole is on the side rather on top because it didn't show how much oil I was pouring in, so I overfilled it wasting some oil. When the saw is upright and in use it's easy to see how much oil is left or needed. Overall I highly recommend this. ... show more

2nd update; This thing had continued to be MY FAVORITE TOOL I OWN,. It has been so helpful, I make sure to always keep oil in it, I also remove the little C-clip to clean under that as well, and I make sure to always have the chain on correctly, there is a diagram that shows you which way it goes in the green part that screws over the blade.. I LOVE THIS THING.. saves me a ton of aggravation I get SOOOO MUCH DONE WITH this ONE tool !!! Update, so far I have done a vast amount of work with this saw, it works so well, a couple of tips, be sure to stop every once in a while and take off the cover remove any thing that may have gotten twisted around the insides, I have a lot of moss, so then u should add oil if it needs it and retention the chain, I cut down some big branches with this all around my property no telling what it would have cost me for this work, it then easily cut them into smaller pieces you can make the pole shorter without removing the hand held chain saw, but it also works well as handheld, I am most happy about this, the B&D alligator is also helpful as it is much quieter and also it has a battery so I can run around uickly wth that one, they both have a purpose and with both of them I have been able in only a few days to cut down a lot of treelimbs, I'm still not finished I have crepe myrtles to trim that surround my property, then I start working on clean up, I feel liberated that I don't have to depend in some man to do it telling me how hard it is and how expensive it would be...LOL...buy this, you will never regret it. I luv this pole saw, it's not very heavy and I did a lot of work with it today, cut down the long overhanging oak tree branches, cut up a big overhanging cluster of tree limbs and long hard allamanda stalks, it's exactly what I needed. Perfect, it had very nice instructions in several languages was packaged nice warranty etc. Super, these branches were high up and I had to stand lost directly under them in order to cut them but went right thru, I have a ton of tree work surrounding my property to do counting on this to get her done, I'm 66 female.. ... show more

    • Strength Needed for Higher Limbs
My husband uses this regularly. It does the job. Be aware, though, that it is a tad heavy and requires strength for upper reach branches. It's still working well, and you can find generic replacement chains at Walmart.

I've had a Sun Joe pole saw for several years and it is top notch. I still use my oricinal which has a permanently attached telescoping pole. I"m still cutting up trees, branches and debris from hurricane Ian, now a year later. I Was looking for a small electric chainsaw for smaller jobs for which my Craftsman 16" ELectric was too big & Heavy. When I saw that this new Sun Joe model had a detachable pole--push a button and snap, snap it's detached...attach the trigger unit, snap, to the saw & you have a light hand held. IT's that easy & it's what made up my mind. I Really like my original one...I use lot every week. This none gives me the great cutting I Expected and I Can use it as a hand held and as a pole saw. With both Sun Joe saws, the chain runs at a faster rpm than my Craftsman so for small-to-medium jobs it actually cuts better and it's much lighter. I'm going to see if I can get another detachable pole so I can put 2 together & give it a longer reach. IF you need a small chainsaw I can't imagine you'll be sorry if you bought one of these even if you never use the pole. ... show more

It's useful. We are currently trimming our trees, which is a cost-saving measure. When the pole reaches its maximum length, it feels heavy, so we need to be careful. Otherwise, the machine works exceptionally well.
