These are very good, I now have 4 of them in my garage. I have one for a car I don't drive too often, for it I wired in the connectors to the battery and leave the cable in the trunk (where the battery is for this car). I also have one on my golf cart for the winter, our go kart, and for the starting battery of our big generator. By using one of these you should be able to extend the life of a battery on a device not used too often, and it's of course very nice when you go to drive your car or use your golf cart and not have to jump start it! One tip when you wire it in with the connector to be more permanent, make sure the connector is in an obvious spot so it gets unplugged before the vehicle is moved! It's not happened yet but we've come close. On our golf cart and go kart, I have it hang by the driver seat. For my car it is in the rear but the wire crosses the path I usually walk to get into it so I can unplug it on the way and put it in the trunk. ... show more

This is a great little tool for those with 8v marine batteries that need recharging or balancing. It's slow (1.5A), but it gets the job done, and has a nice auto cut-off when the battery gets to proper charge. Lots of things do this for 12v and 6v, but most don't support 8v. The connectors for it are solid, and have a quick disconnect with caps on each end. This is great if you need to pause charging quickly, cap off, and go without fiddling with the terminals. They're polarity keyed, so you can't plug it in backwards either. Good design and functionality overall. The only con I can note is that when it first starts up it starts in the last mode (12v/8v) it started in. One would expect such a simple device to be able to take a good guess as the battery type it's charging based on feedback voltage, and set itself accordingly. Since I only use this for 8v, I had to click it once to move it to that setting. From then on it started up in 8v mode and just works. ... show more

Did not work on the 8 volt setting. Which is what I bought it for. Used the leads on a battery to set up easier charging with a working charger
