I bought this to solve the problem of taking my wrangler skiing. This was the only option that didn’t involve drilling into the hardtop, which I didn’t want to do cause the potential for leaks. The install was relatively simple, though I didn’t have to buy my own hardware, but I did buy open box so oh well. Overall I like it and it does what I need it to for skiing, I will say there is a whistle from the crossbars but other than that Im very happy with it. ... show more

    • Had to modify alloy rail blocks cheap hardware nuts and bolts
Product came with 4 alloy blocks that slide into the rail to lock down the rail to the mounting. All 4 blocks were too large by a quarter inch so I had to grind both sides of each block down so they would fit in side the rail. Hardware nuts were so cheap and one didn’t have threads. Installed on a 2002 wrangler TJ. Now that it is on I like the result. I just didn’t like having to take an extra hour to make the blocks fit. Also you have to take and loosen your hard top and lift up off the body to get the back rail mounts under the lip of the hard top. It works fine but this isn’t a quick install. ... show more

Just received my kit and no hardware came with it not even the brackets for the bars, very disappointing considering only have of the parts list was shipped

    • great way to support a roof rack, assuming you have a hard top
It was easy to install and works great to secure my Surco S5060 50x60 roof rack. Have since used the roof rack on a half dozen camping trips and no issues ... but it can shift around if you have tons of weight on it and go off-road. So just carry the torque wrench (included) and loosen it after each trip and re-tighten it before you load the top up again. otherwise, super easy to install and works great! ... show more

Pretty fair installation instructions came with all the bolts i needed except the bolts for the front gutter bracket was kinda long but bolts arent hard to trim down. I purchased the surco urban cross bars and they fit really nice. All and all its something better than spending 1500$ on a cage roof rack system because i have a snorkel. The rear bar the crosses over the window has some foam padding but i put a thicker padding to stop some high speed vibrations. ... show more

    • Great idea, but not a 1 man job to install. and possible second quality item.
The Surco system is really the only way to put a rack on a hardtop without drilling holes, That being said, since the whole system works on the clamping force of the entire bracket and crossbars to hold the rack in place, you will really need to people working together to put it on and you have to have all of the brackets and crossbars to install it. Once I got mine together, I noticed that one of the rear roof brackets is bent. It doesn't look like it was dropped and that the bend was from some other physical damage, It looks like it wasn't welded straight. I think when you buy things from amazon you face the chance that you are getting a second quality product. I am going to reach out to Surco and see what they will do about replacing it with a quality part, but, I need the rack next week to transport a ladder for work, So I may be stuck with it. ... show more
