Naturally being a little skeptical about a 3rd party accessory, I decided it was worth the chance to have this backup battery for my new ego blower, and the Prime Days sale pushed me into the buy category. Like the name brand, this is heavy. Like the name brand, it has an indicator for energy level. And like the name brand it fits both tool and charger. The battery came with almost a full charge, so I was able to give it a try right away and was not disappointed for its longevity in use. When done, I was sure to allow it some resting time prior to charging and when I did place on charger I took care to isolate the charger away from anything ‘just in case’. Checking on the progress periodically, it seemed to charge to full in about the same timeframe as the name brand. I did not leave it on the charger after seeing it was full (something I try to be careful about with all of my various battery tool items), so I have no idea about what happens if left. I’ve used the battery for about six uses now and had to charge only twice (actually slightly better performance than the name brand, however that could also be attributed to how much pine straw I had to deal with). All-in-all, I am happy with this battery and would recommend for anyone needing such a battery. And if on sale like Prime Days then grab one.

Charges quickly and lets the charger turn off. It does seem to be quite 5AH. Works good but does seem to go as far as a 5AH should. Just my opinion

I can no longer recommend buying this battery at any price. After 10-20 charge cycles both the battery I originally purchased in April of 2022, and the replacement that the seller sent to me only give 15-20 minutes of runtime in my mower, and even less in the EGO leaf blower. At least with my 3 batteries (the original OEM, my purchase, and its replacement), I can get my mowing done without long delays keeping one battery in the mower and 2 on chargers. However, if you need a replacement, look elsewhere. To the seller: have your batteries properly charged for storage before purchase. There may also be a problem with the IC chips in these batteries. The OEM EGO batteries give me some indication prior to just shutting off that they are almost depleted. Your batteries just stop working. ========================================================================== Original Headline: This battery is only worth it if it is less than $150 (Aug 2022) The issue of price vs capacity is preventing me from rating this battery higher. As of this writing (Aug 2022) EGO's OEM 5.0Ah battery is selling for $249 and this battery is selling for $139. At this price it is a good value. However, it was more expensive when I bought it. From a brand-new EGO OEM 5.0Ah battery I can get 60 minutes of runtime on my mower. The most this battery has given is 40 minutes. In the best case scenario, this battery is only a good buy if it is $165 or less (66.6% of the EGO price). I haven't done any formal capacity testing as I don't have the equipment necessary to do so, but my best guess is the actual capacity of these batteries is between 3 and 4 Ah. The reduced capacity could be due to the fact that the batteries are shipped fully charged. I placed the battery on my charger (EGO OEM fast charger) when I received it, and it indicated fully charged. For best battery health Li-ion batteries should be stored at 40-50% charge. Without a manufacture date, it is difficult to say how much damage was done to the cells being stored fully charged, but it is safe to say that some damage was done. Unless of course, the cells used to make this battery don't actually add up to 5Ah capacity, I'm not planning on dissasembling to confirm this. I can't speak to the longevity yet, but the battery has given consistent performance over the last several months of usage. Assuming this battery lasts at least a few seasons of mowing, I would definitely recommend purchase (especially at the current price). The seller was also very responsive to my concerns and worked to make it right. If the price goes back up I would recommend spending a little bit more and purchasing the EGO OEM.

Only used it a few times before winter hit and it has worked quite well for a spare. Between the lawnmower and leaf blower (I get tons of leaves in the fall and my yard seems to be a magnet for them) they get quite the work out. Would definitely buy another if needed.

Bought this battery for half the price of an OEM, while waiting for E*G*O to send me a replacement for a defective battery still under warranty. (it was the cheapest of all the batteries on Amazon). I've been very pleased with performance and battery life. Highly recommended
