However, there are a few design flaws that require creative solutions. Pros This machine provides a sturdy frame and a good variety of workout options for the price. It functions well for most exercises and, with the right modifications, can accommodate a full-body routine. When paired with an adjustable bench, such as the Fostoy Adjustable Weight Bench (approximately $120 at the time of purchase), it becomes even more versatile with the ability to perform leg extensions and leg curls, along with a preacher curl attachment. Cons & Workarounds 1. Cable Length Limitation on Adjustable Pulleys • The cables bottom out too soon when using both pulleys at the same time, limiting the full range of motion. The seller confirmed this is a design flaw. • One solution is to use chain extensions (included with the machine) for each pulley and adjust your standing position until you achieve full range of motion. Another alternative is to sit on a bench or kneel to engage your core while performing movements like cable flys. • At 6’0”, I was able to make these adjustments work. 2. Smith Machine Height Restriction for Calf Raises • The height of the machine prevents proper calf raises on the Smith bar. • There is no direct fix, but alternative options include using a hack squat machine like I bought on Amazon (MDeam is the brand, check out my review on that as well), or performing seated dumbbell calf raises on a small platform for better range of motion. 3. Slack in the Pulley System for Leg Press, Chest Press, and Flys • The pulley system has noticeable slack, which reduces resistance at the start and end of movements. • To fix this, I placed a 2” piece of 2x4 between the rubber bumper of the leg press, which removed the slack and maintained consistent resistance throughout the range of motion. • Important Note: The block must be removed before adjusting weights, or it will be difficult to insert the pin into the stack. 4. Pull-Up Bar Foam Grip Feels Cheap • The foam grip isn’t ideal for my preference. A bare metal bar with grip tape would have been a better design choice. 5. Seat Back and Height Are Not Adjustable • The backrest is fixed, which means certain exercises require adjusting your body position manually. • The seat height is also non-adjustable, which may be an issue for some users, though it wasn’t a concern for me. Final Thoughts This Smith Machine Home Gym is a solid purchase for the price, with a wide range of functionality. While some design flaws exist, most can be worked around with slight modifications. Well, decent just went to really good deal after hearing from the sales team and manufacturer. They assisted in helping me with the issue. So far I’ve been using the machine without issue. Is it perfect for home use? It’s pretty good. Don’t expect it to feel like it’s professional gym quality because it’s not that, nor is it supposed to be. Will you get a great workout in and not have to pay a gym membership? Absolutely! Older Review: It’s a decent product for a home gym at this price point. The challenge is have is that the cord connecting to the weight stack is about 2 inches short so it makes it hard to adjust the weights. That's the biggest flaw. The other issue is the directions and the labels. This comes in several boxes and while the directions are pretty thorough it would be better if they labeled all of the pieces and not just the big ones. It's pretty big so make sure you have some room. You’re going to need about 15 ft in length, 7 ft in width and it's just over 7ft tall. It literally takes up over half of my 3rd car garage bay. Hopefully this company can send me a longer cord or a fix for this issue I mentioned. It gets worse I'd you add the attachments on the chains. If that was fixed I'd give this 4.5-5 stars for price point and 4.5 stars for function.

Shipping and Customer Support: Initially, I considered purchasing a multifunctional gym from Costco, but the reviews were mixed. I was especially concerned about complaints of missing or damaged items during shipping and poor customer service. After researching alternatives and reading positive reviews of the SunHome Multifunction Home Gym, I decided to test their customer support. I sent several questions to EPOCH Store, the company selling the SunHome Home Gym, and received prompt, helpful responses. This gave me confidence that I wouldn’t face any shipping issues. Sure enough, I placed my order on September 4, and by September 7, all six boxes arrived—nothing was missing or damaged! Assembly: Some reviews mention that the instruction manual could be clearer, and I agree. The diagrams were more helpful for assembling the SunHome Multifunctional gym. My tip: if you have a 5/8 ratcheting wrench and a 3/8 cordless ratchet wrench, use them—they’ll make the assembly much quicker. I didn’t encounter any issues; take your time and carefully follow the diagrams. Functionality: What I love most about the SunHome gym is the built-in Smith Machine and cable exercises. I can do squats and lunges properly, and I’m impressed by the range of exercises possible with this setup. While I wish it included a workout guide, I found plenty of examples on YouTube. With my busy schedule—taking the kids to school and their after-school activities—I appreciate not having to make an extra trip to the gym. Now, I can go to the basement for my workouts. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase, especially with the $200 discount, and I’m very satisfied with the customer support!

This is an amazing home gym. It does everything my husband and I would want to do at home in the comfort of our garage. It’s sturdy and well made and comes with all the accessories that you need. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the assembly instructions are not good. They are not specific and no parts are labeled. If the directions would’ve been better id definitely give it 5 stars.

This product is a sturdy and good quality for working out at home. It’s pretty easy to install, the instruction is easy to understand. The color black and silver work well together make the whole machine looks really nice. I did a lot of research before I bought and I think with this price no brand can beat it. It has almost everything I need for my home gym. It’s very convenient all in one with chest workout, leg press, lat pulldown on the back and the front with smith machine and cable pulley system. The thing I like the most is the weight stacks, no need to change weight plates everytime I want to increase the weight just pull out and select new weight in one second. The package came in 5 boxes first then the last box came in several days after. I contacted the seller and they responded really quick and helpful. Very impressed with customer service from this seller. I recommend this home gym for every gymer.

I bought this home gym during a sale and got it for under a grand. Considering the price of the higher tier home gyms you get a lot for the price of this one. The frame components are strong and fairly well machined. Welds are decent and the paint is good. The cables, pulleys, etc. are all good quality not cheap flimsy plastic or stuff that feels like it would not last long. I’ve seen various budget home gyms where the manufacturer obviously went cheap and the end result is very lacking. This home gym kit is a great buy considering the price. Its not as refined as the much more expensive setups but then they cost quite a bit more. Pros - wide variety of exercises to choose from the frame is strong and should hold up well over time the pulley system is wrapped steel cable using mid weight pulleys the weights included are filled plastic but are thick plastic the included hardware and accessories are all good quality not low end cheap stuff (Bolts, washers, nuts, exercise attachments) squat lift bar feels pretty smooth and is a nice inclusion to this kit nice variety of exercise attachments (rope, chain, several size bars, rowing bar, etc.) Cons- diagrams are good but instructions could be better assembly hardware packaged numerically but tools included were not, could have been better labelled it would be challenging for one person to assemble due to weight of frame pieces seat is not adjustable for taller/shorter people butterfly exercise padding may or may not help because seat is not adjustable Leg press foot is kinda weird could be better designed and include skid tape exercise attachments do not come with quick release clips, comes with screw quick links for chain seat mounts were bent slightly in shipping but was still able to mount seats pulley system is a little clunky but still feels really sturdy, may smooth out over time Typically you can either spend a lot more for a more refined big name brand or go budget and risk wasting money on a disappointing kit. This feels like a surprisingly good quality budget kit. Room for improvement but not disappointing either. I recommend planning the assembly since it took me an afternoon to unbox everything, carry it down to my basement, and lay it out. Then after a few days it took me and my wife several hours to assemble following the instructions. I would not recommend trying to do it all in one day unless you have several helpers. FYI I’m 6’ and not thin (230lbs) and I can hop grab the pull up bar and the frame doesn’t feel like I’m risking the whole thing tipping over even on rubber mat over carpet.
