  • Happy to have it.
First 5 hours of use went really well. Plan to use it a lot more this season and will update my review if anything new arises. Couple things to know about my review: - I'm on a private well system. Luckily I don't have sediment in my water. Not surprisingly, if I did have sediment in the water, I would need to filter the water reaching the pressure washer. - I get about 5 GPM from my garden hose. I don't know my supply pressure, though. This might factor into a problem I had with the 40-degree nozzle. More on that later. - I'm a pressure washer noob. Some stuff I note might be considered common knowledge to others. Firstly - install backflow preventers on your supply taps if you don't already have them. Being a noob, I was surprised to learn that I needed them. Happy to report that I already had them in place. USPS delivered the pressure washer in good shape. Delivery gal complained the box was heavy. She was right. It's heavy. But I take that as a good sign of good equipment. It took about 30 minutes to put on the handle, the nozzle holder, gun holder and attach hoses. Instructions were simple enough. Eager to try it out, I snapped on the 40-degree nozzle, the widest of the set. After about 5 minutes of operation, the pressure washer started pulsing - sort of spraying at full force then down to a fraction of the force. Being a little skeptical of my source supply (water volume and/or pressure), I switched down to the 25-degree nozzle. Problem seemingly solved. No more pulsing. The manual does indicate that machine pulsing can be caused by inadequate supply. Layman observation: 40-degree nozzle requires a better water supply than my system provides. The tighter sprays of the other nozzles seem to tax my system less. First test was trying it out on my vinyl siding. Worked great. Took the mildew/mold off in seconds. Also ran it across a set of white vinyl shutters. The pressure washer did a great job. I knew I needed to clean off some gunk but I didn't realize how much of a dirt film had built up. Now I have to do all the shutters. Second test was washing our car. 2-door coupe. I parked the pressure washer near the front corner of the car and could just barely reach around all sides of the car without having to move it. I'll probably end up getting a longer high-pressure hose. The 25-degree nozzle did a great job on the car. I was disappointed to find out that the detergent is only applied when the soap nozzle is attached. Again, I'm a noob. I pictured being able to blast the car with detergent. Instead, the soap nozzle spits it on... spits it on really well and evenly. But it's no concentrated blast of soapy spray. Anyway, the car is super clean now. Was able to take lots of time with it as opposed to taking it to the car wash. I look forward to being able to take advantage of it in the winter when the car is frosted with road salt. Ah - winter. Couple of mentions in the manual that the pressure washer should be stored indoors, above 32-degrees. I guess there's a way to winterize it using an antifreeze. I'm not familiar with it but something to be mindful of. That was it for the first run. Tried all the nozzles except for the 0-degree one. I read an article that suggested throwing away those nozzles as they can cause pretty bad injuries. That goes for any pressure washer, though. ... show more

  • HEAVY!
First, this item was purchased through Amazon Warehouse at their set price. There was no discount or any compensation for writing this review. This unit was purchased to replace a Karcher that started to act a little quirky. No big deal, I got it for free from someone used and it allowed me to confirm that I wanted a pressure washer. The first observation is just how heavy the Sunjoe is in comparison. The Sunjoe is at least 3X heavier than the Karcher. I think the Sunjoe is listed as 46 lbs and I think that is pretty accurate. It was easier to just pick the Karcher up and carry it, not so with the Sunjoe. Assembly is pretty easy with just 9 screws required. Even taking my time and making sure everything was just right, it took about 20 minutes to have it ready to use. The unboxing is also pretty easy. The main unit and each part are in individual plastic bags and there are some cardboard fillers. No styrofoam pieces to fight with. In use, this things works really well. I think that it should be noted that the rated PSI is 2000 with a MAX of 2300. This is right on the outside of the box. The Karcher unit this replaces was 1600 psi. This is definitely a better unit and it knocked months of crud off my wife's car today. The only thing left was a film that water alone will never remove no matter how much pressure is behind it. I used my foam lance to apply soap and it worked just as good as with the Karcher. An interesting feature is that the quick disconnect for the tips snaps back and all you need to do to attach another is to push it on and the quick disconnect will snap into place and hold it on. The storage thing for the tips works well too. Just simply push a tip into place and pull another out. There are some plastic spring arms to hold the tips and they seem to be tuned fairly well. They come off easy enough and on just as easy. The cord wrap bottom spins around so that you can get the cord off easy enough. It is weird that it has a lot of detents, probably every 10-15 degrees or so. I would expect something more like every 90 degrees. To me, it is just wrong and it feels like you are breaking something even though you aren't. Not a good "user experience" on this item. I know that Sunjoe makes another model with a hose reel. I chose not to go that route because the hose would have lots of small curls in it and it is another link point or two to have issues with. The little hook provided to put the hose on is just too little. The hose is a pretty stiff thing and the hook just isn't big enough to make it easy to put the hose on it. This just feels like an afterthought and they could make it much better for just a few pennies of plastic. One other item that struck me as a little strange is that the garden hose attachment is on the front and the pressure washer hose attachment is on the back. So while you are using it, you tend to be looking at the back and if you need to turn it off you have to walk around to the front to do so. Again, something just a little off in the "user experience". These are just small nitpicks, but I wanted to mention them in case they are truly important for someone reading this review. I have only used the unit once and it performed very well. No issues at all with the working and it seems to have plenty of power. I am not a heavy user of pressure washers but I will use it about 1 per month or more for car washing and then the occasional thing around the house. I am hoping the induction motor makes this one last for a few years, even longer than the 2-year warranty (+90 days for registering online). BTW, one last item that was a little off was that I did not see the serial number on the unit at all. I ended up finding it on a sticker that is on one of the pieces of paper in the packet with instructions. There is also a tip cleaner taped to the back of the English instrustions. Very easy to miss these 2 items. ... show more
