Very good electric pressure washer

Last year, I purchased a Simpson gas pressure washer from Costco and had nothing but trouble with the machine including poor customer service from Simpson. I returned the pressure washer to Costco and started giving some thought to buying an electric washer. Many of the reviews online caution against using an electric washer due to the fact the psi produced from these machines is much less than that produced by gas engine washers. I looked for weeks and finally decided to purchase the Sun Joe SPX3000 for two reasons - good reviews and the highest PSI rating I found online for an electric pressure washer. I used the pressure washer this past two days to clean a large driveway that has not been cleaned in 15 years. I did connect it to a 12 inch EZcleaner surface pressure washer disc designed for electric washers for some of the cleaning. The surface cleaner came from Home Depot. I first wet the surface, then applied and scrubbed the area with outdoor Clorox cleaning solution(diluted), then cleaned the area with the surface cleaner, then followed up using the pressure washer using the 40 degree gray tip. The surface cleaner did ok removing the top film of dirt but using the washer with the 40 degree tip was a must to remove the stubborn dirt. Pros of the Sun Joe SPX3000: 1. Easy to assemble 2. The motor worked flawlessly for the 8 hours of use 3. When you release the trigger, the motor shuts off 4. Quiet engine - did not need hearing protection 5. Pretty good power considering it is an electric washer - it definitely has plenty of power for cleaning your deck and house and will do a good job with your driveway but will take a little more effort compared to a gas washer due to less PSI. Cons: 1. I had some trouble with the water leaking from the hose side and the pump side of the connector. Must make sure these connections are very tight and may require some re-tightening on the occasion. 2. PSI rating - will take longer cleaning a dirty concrete surface compared to the time a gas pressure washer will take you. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. It may have taken me more time with this machine to clean my driveway compared to a gas washer but the extra time was well worth it not having to fool with the noise and starting efforts of a gas pressure washer. I am looking forward to using it to clean my house and decks. I do recommend this product. ... show more

Put the pressure on filth, with Sun Joe!

I was stuck for a while between this and the GreenWorks GPW1702 13 amp 1700 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer with Hose Reel. I have no experience with Sun Joe products, this being my first, so I was skeptical of the Amazon Best Seller title it possessed while on the other hand my only experience with GreenWorks is an electric hedger which has treated me well and should have made me more inclined to buy another GreenWorks product. The reason why I didn't settle for the GreenWorks pressure washer was because the spray tip barrel looked like it was made mostly out of plastic, now it's probably a decent density and compound of plastic to handle what it offers, but having had experience with gas powered ones when I was a window cleaner, I was more comfortable with the idea of a pressure washer with an actual metal barrel of some sort. That's exactly what this Sun Joe pressure washer had, plus it looked to have a little bit more to offer than the GreenWorks did. The $10-15 difference was practically a no-brainer so I went all in for the Sun Joe and once it finally showed up, assembled it and used it, I gotta say, I was not disappointed. I wasn't sure what kind of performance I was actually gonna get out of it even though it claims a 2030 PSI range. I was skeptical on how clean it would get my back porch patio and I honestly should have taken before and after photos of the results, but I'll tell you, once I was finished my patio looked practically brand new again. After all the dirt, soot, backyard barbecues, pet messes, you name it, this thing obliterated those contaminants back to the pristine concrete I remember seeing it when my wife and I bought the house. There's stains that didn't lift off but that can be treated with chemicals that run through the pressure washer if I wanted, but I didn't, and again, I was surprised at how well it cleaned everything just from the water pressure itself. Got a filthy car sitting in the driveway? Get a proper foam lance, some quality car washing soap and you're in for a world of making your car the cleanest ride you ever owned. It seems pretty solid except for the fact that because it's a little tall, and if you're not careful, you can accidentally knock the thing over so that's a bit of a con but not enough to knock a star off because I'm quite happy with this purchase and what it's had to offer. The convenience of not having to keep fuel around as well as its relatively lightweight construction and ease of assembly, use and function outweighs the majority of flaws I might even want to pick out. Maybe the power cord could be a bit of a disadvantage especially if your power source is relatively farther away from your water source. so you're caught between having to get a decent extension cord that will properly power the pressure washer as well as the water line long enough to reach it, or possibly both; that's really up to your particular circumstance. So after having cleaned off a ridiculously filthy backyard porch, two cars and soon a driveway, I'm pretty happy to say that currently this is one of my most favorite yard tools yet. Wife definitely had a great time helping wash the family van, which by the way hasn't looked as good as it does now in years! I can't wait for the next opportunity to put this thing to use again and find out how far it'll go. ... show more

I LOVE THIS MACHINE

I did the usual research, first looking at gas powered vs. electric cord powered vs. electric battery powered. Decided on electric cord powered since the use is for home, not commercial. Based on the thousands of favorable reviews for the SUNJOE, I decided to buy the SPX3000 model for $200. Very reasonable. It arrived in two days! Outstanding packaging: double boxed (a strong box within a strong box). All the parts protected and carefully packed. FIRST IMPRESSION: (I was a professor of mechanical engineering for 30 years, so I know quality when I see it.) MACHINE CONCEPT: Excellent DESIGN: Excellent ENGINEERING: Excellent MANUFACTURE: Excellent SHIPPING: Can't be any better INSTRUCTIONS: Sixteen pages in English ASSEMBLY: Having decided this was a great buy, I poured myself a Gentleman Jack and proceeded to assemble this machine. Instructions begin on page 6 after all the obligatory legal DON'TS, like "keep all bystanders at least 49 feet away when operating." (What about me?) Assembly pages 6-9, 19 clearly drawn figures. CAUTION: Do not use a powered screw driver! All you need is a #2 Phillips hand-held screw driver for only 6 screws. Do not over tighten. If necessary, you can always go back to firm up the fasteners if something seems too loose. ASSEMBLY CONTINUED: Attaching the spray wand protector (Step #7, Figures 8 and 9). Be sure to properly engage the tab into the slot. I didn't and had to back out the screw to correctly insert the tab. USING THE NOZZLE (Fig. 23): Be sure to firmly snap the nozzle into the wand. You must hear and see the release mechanism "click" back into its forward position, otherwise the nozzle will fly off the wand and may get lost. PREPARING FOR OPERATION: This washer has a very reasonable weight for its power and for moving up and down stairs. The power plug has a small built-in protrusion that allows it to be plugged directly into a shielded outdoor power supply. The copper contacts reach nicely into the slots in spite of the framed plastic hood that protects the outdoor receptacle. Unlike my previous power washer, the hose connection does not leak. Nice. OPERATION: Select and insert nozzle. Connect water. Connect power. Power on. Power wash. Excellent pressure and water flow! For home use, this is all you need before stepping up to the gas-powered models. CONCLUSION: Impressive machine. Surprisingly quiet compared to my last machine. Well built. Design and engineering costs were clearly directed towards important elements: motor, sturdy body, powerful motor, hose, power cord and plug, and water gun. TODAY'S USE: Just finished washing my Trex deck that was neglected for many seasons. Used the soap dispenser at full open. The complete job took about two and one-half hours. It looks like new. PROS: See above. CONS: Water-wand hose length could be 5 feet or so longer. But that might contribute toward diminishing the outlet pressure. Exceeded My Expectations!

In a former life I used a pressure washer almost daily. The best pressure washers imho have a Honda GX series commercial grade engine, a CAT pump (which can be rebuilt) and 3000psi+ pressure. They clean well and hold up well over the long haul but are expensive, starting in the $700 to $800 range and out of my budget range. I didn't expect much when I ordered the Sun Joe SPX 3000 but I was pleasantly surprised especially considering the price (Deal of the Day) I paid. Ordered on a Sunday and it was sitting on the front porch Tuesday (thanks Amazon!). It's packed well and that's a good thing considering the box was found upside down- no damage thanks to the good packaging. Assembly is easy ... if you read the manual first, it's clear and concise. I'd use a regular or ratcheting screwdriver instead of a power tool (i.e.cordless drill or impact driver) on the self tapping screws used for assembly- there's far less risk of stripping the hole. Mine came with a metal supply fitting instead of the all plastic one others have mentioned - no leaks. The Good- it works well. The pro style gun tips make it versatile- even at just 2000 psi the 0 degree tip can do some real damage if you're not careful.. No, it doesn't have the power of a commercial grade pressure washer but so far it has done everything I and most homeowners would ask of it- clean siding, concrete walks, the nasty underside of a mower deck or your vehicle. It's quiet especially compared to gas engine powered pressure washers. There's no gas to buy or oil to change. Two year (residential use only) warranty, a better warranty than many. And real live U.S. based humans in customer service The Bad- it's a bit difficult to move with the 35' (iirc) power cord on the rear and the water supply hose on the front. And you WILL have to move it as there's only 20' of high pressure hose. I'm going to order Sun Joe's SPX-25H 25' extension hose later this month- 45 total feet of high pressure hose will save a lot of moving. I disconnect the supply hose before moving- the new supply coupling may be metal but it attaches to a plastic fitting on the machine. Dragging around 25' or more of garden hose can't be good for it. Suggestions- 1. Check your water supply before you buy any pressure washer. Take the hose you're going to use with the pressure washer and fill a 5 gal. bucket for exactly one minute. Check the quantity of water in the bucket- you should have at the very least what your pressure washer is rated for (1.76 GPM in the case of the Sun Joe) and preferably more.. Some older homes with galvanized steel water pipes have id's the size of a pencil due to years of sediment/corrosion and will not have enough water flow as will some homes on wells .... better to know before you buy. And if you have enough water flow, make sure you open your hose bib/wall hydrant/ spigot ALL the way, every time. Using a larger hose can help- I use a 3/4" commercial garden hose on mine instead of the usual 5/8". 2. Read the manual thoroughly before you start, especially if this is your first pressure washer.... you will probably save yourself some aggravation. 3. At first sign of freezing weather get your pressure washer to someplace where it won't freeze unless you want to wind up with an expensive plant stand on wheels. Conclusion- The Sun Joe SPX 3000 is a good machine at a great price and for most residential homeowners, it is as good as it gets. It's quiet, does the job, no gas to buy or oil to change. Update 9/13/20: It's still working and still no complaints. The extra length of hose has been helpful. Store it properly and you should get good life out of it. ... show more

Defective quick-connect collar

Pros: Great when it actually works. Cons: The quick-connect collar does NOT easily snap on the nozzle. I spent 30 minutes trying with all my grip strength to attach the nozzle to the collar, following the instruction manual given. Did not work. The instruction manual states: "Snap the desired nozzle onto the quick-connect collar until it clicks into place (Figure 19). You should hear a *click*. Only when you read about disconnecting, does it ever mention that you pull back on the quick-connect collar to disconnect. I have no idea whether I should be pulling back the collar sleeve on the wand to connect. I tried with many different nozzles incase one was defective. After fumbling with it for an hour, I accidentally got the nozzle connected. I'm afraid of removing it now. The instructions NEED to be updated on whether you need to pull back on the collar sleeve to connect. I believe I got mine working by pulling back on the collar sleeve. The issue with mine is it just stays there, like its in "disconnect" mode. Then I had to manually push the collar sleeve back up to hear the *click*. Normally when I attempt to connect the nozzle to the collar, I never hear any click. All I can do is pull back on the quick-collar and it stays in "disconnect mode". This means that as soon as I turn on the pressure washer, the nozzle goes flying off the collar . Sunjoe's AI assistant says this is the 3rd step: "Release the collar — let it slide forward over the nozzle base. It will snap into place and lock the nozzle securely." This 3rd step never happened for me, therefore I believe mine is defective. I luckily got mine on with the green and want to use this to finish my driveway to get the HOA off my back. Then I'd like to return this for a new collar or nozzle. I'll happy share a video of my problem to the seller once I finish my driveway as I'm afraid I won't be able to connect ever again. ... show more
