I’ve been using this machine since September 2023; the simplicity and quality of this mower cannot be overstated. Ease of Assembly: The mower comes 90% assembled; I let my neighbor friend put it together because she asked to and it took her maybe 25 minutes. I lifted it out of the box for her; it’s super lightweight but WELL constructed. I have an extremely uneven and bumpy yard and I walk briskly. It has handled the “abuse” and it looks brand new. Lightweight: The same neighbor borrowed it and she was surprised how light and maneuverable the mower is, but it is not at all flimsy. She weighs maybe 115lbs soaking wet and no upper body strength (not a slam on her, just providing for and idea how lightweight this thing is) Charges Quickly: From zero charge to full charge in less than 1 hour. Charge Duration/Life: I have consistently experienced a 45-minute duration. Curiously, this machine just shuts down when the battery is depleted. There is not a gradual loss of power; I assume this is built into the battery circuitry. Surprisingly Powerful: I cut my WET grass which was over 6” tall as seen in the picture. It buzzes through it like hot butter. I was NOT mulching; throwing to the side outwards and had ZERO issues. The mower does not bog down rather it appears to / sounds like it powers up when resistance is encountered. This did seem to affect the battery duration by about 15%. I can usually finish my entire yard on a single charge, but it stopped about 7-8 minutes early. I put hot batteries on the charger, and they were 100% in less than an hour. (I cut wet grass in between Florida downpours, and it’s been two weeks and crazy tall.) Surprisingly Quiet: This thing is quieter than a hair dryer. It makes a low hum, and you can hear ambient noises, no problem. You can cut your grass at 8a.m. on a Sunday (as I did today) and not wake the neighbors. I asked if they heard anything when they were leaving for church, and they said they wondered WHEN I cut my grass because the woke to my fresh cut lawn! It’s quieter than my cordless weed trimmer too (B&D). Stink Free: With the absence of gas and oil, there is NO smell when you store this mower indoors. You also do not smell like cut grass and gas/smoke when you are done mowing. I just blow this thing off with my leaf blower and occasionally wipe it down and it looks like the day I purchased it. In Sum: Negatives = Zero. Nice to Have: A battery life meter on the handle OR a large display on the battery compartment would be the ONLY thing additional that I would engineer into this mower to make it perfect. There IS a small LED life meter on each battery, but you must stop the mower, open the battery cover and squeeze a button to see how much charge is remaining. Big whoop, but the “cool factor” would be a selling point. Note: I purchased the 21" for $257 less than a year ago. It now sells for $380. 48% increase! Very good for a small lawn. Lightweight and easy to use. I need my gas powered mower to use on the rest of my lawn as it has a larger cut area.

I had an older version of SunJoe. It had a fixed battery that couldn't be removed according to SunJoe customer service so there was basically nothing that could be done since the mover doesn't take a charge anymore. However,that mower lasted me 3 good years so I felt a newer model with a removable battery that I could charge indoors would last me just as long or longer. My new SunJoe 24v-xz with 48volts It weighs less,the motor is more powerful,and comes with two batteries and a mulching feature which I love. I use to bag all the time but this makes my small yard with little grass and patches look fuller but neater when cutting it . I like it shorter using the 1 blade level. The grass is starting to grow back and fill in in empty spots and the mulching helps. I got a good deal on it and I love it especially the color. My only 4 issues with it is this: 1. The entire body of the mower is plastic and I'm kind of rough with my mowers so I'm concerned it may get badly scratched or damaged . My yard wasn't kept by previous owner and the terrain is treacherous so there alot of debris, holes,and hills. When going over humps or tree roots it just feel fragile but so far so good. 2. Handle bars . Ok these things seem like a light weight aluminum and I feel if I try hard enough I could bend the bars in half with my hands and I'm not a bulky guy. The bars rattle while mowing and I feel like I just have to be delicate with it. 3. Turning. Maybe it's just my yard but it seems just turning around to make another pass over an area I just cut isn't a smooth transition. I think it's due to the wheels. 4.plastic wheels, this maybe why it's difficult to turn.the wheels are hard and may contribute to the overall rattling and vibration of the mower while moving. I feel if the wheels where rubber or rubber coated it would move a lot better. Pros: 1. Customer Service: This is the biggest pro and why I purchased it. I had a SunJoe before and was familiar with there CS and when trying to get a new one they were helpful. Not just helped but responded in real time. I corresponded with them via txt. This seems to be the best way to go for quick questions and assistance. Other companies I call, I wait and maybe someone picks up but with SunJoe I txt they responded quickly. Now you have to be willing to txt if not this may seem uncomfortable but trust me it's seemless. If I have trouble with my mower I feel I can reach someone that could help immediately. 2. Lightweight: with the battery in it's still light enough for an elderly person to a young middle school girl to use. 3. The motor seems twice as powerful as my last. Along with the blade it cuts my grass like hit knife through butter. 4.Batteries can be charged indoor which can extend life of the battery. Also I can get an hour of cutting time with both batteries in plus have enough charge to use one of my batteries in my SunJoe weed eater. This lasted a good 30 min . 4.the website doesn't say this but if you wanted to you can collapse the handle bars to fold allow you to store the mower in a up right position.it makes it compact for storage. I simply lose the green knobs on the side and it allows the bars it to fold. Overall, it's is very good for the price and what you get. I got it on sale and was able to buy a SunJoe weed trimmer (tool only) for under $300 before tax. If you have a flat lawn that has been well manicured in the past then this mower will be even better.The more level the yard ,the smoother the ride. The mower was harder to put together than I expected - I really had to read the manual and figure things out step by step so that surprised me. After using it a few times it ended up squeaking so bad I felt bad for the neighbors, and it was more than one component squeaking. I emailed customer service but they either don’t read emails well or just cut and paste responses to anything written. I ended up having to box it back up and bring it to UPS for a warranty replacement. At 120lbs, getting over 70lbs into a large and awkward sized box and then into my car and to UPS was a pain. The new mower arrived and I put it together and it won’t start. I read the manual, followed the trouble-shooting guide, and contacted customer service. They want me to return this unit now for a warranty replacement and keep asking me for the invoice and I keep sending the same screenshot of the warranty replacement number for the first unit since I don’t have an invoice for this replacement unit. If I didn’t already have a Snow Joe snowblower I like and want to be able to use the same batteries for both the lawn mower and snow blower, I would be asking for a refund. The batteries don’t last very long and I need at least 2 sets of batteries for both devices to complete the job. Update - I received a 3rd non-working mower. Had a mechanic take it apart and he is convinced they are sending me lemons since it’s a warranty replacement. Sun Joe wants to send me a 4th warranty replacement or give me store credit - to their Sun Joe store?!? So I can buy some other non-working device? No thanks. ... show more
