Fourth and final update. This company has gone above and beyond. The replacement arrived today despite the covid problems (among others) affecting both our countries. Meanwhile, as I bought and installed a second Sumbin lock some time ago after the problem with the first, I can advise that it works very well indeed. I highly recommend it. Third update: Sumbin has stood behind their product. The lock itself seems overall of good quality, and excellent value. As mentioned in my review below, mine had an issue with key removal when in the locked position. Sumbin tells me they are in the process of sending a replacement. I don't expect perfection in every product from a vendor, and understand that at times issue will arise. In those (hopefully rare) instances, the willingness of the seller to rectify the situation speaks loudly to the integrity of both them and their product. Given their efforts to make things right, I am happy to return to my original four-star rating. I believe you will be satisfied with this product should you choose to purchase it. Second Update: I regret the need to give even one star. The seller gave lip service to the issue below, asking for more feedback. I gave it promptly and accurately. Their response was "We are regret for that We will try to improve it in the furture (sic)." So, not only did they send a defective lock, they wasted my time with a "feel-good follow-up" and do not care to correct their error, leaving the customer to absorb the cost of the vendor's failure. Lest anyone think I am being unfair, please take a look at the hundreds of reviews I have done hoping to benefit Amazon customers. I believe you will find them to be honest and accurate. Update: I installed this lock in a seldom used basement door a couple of months ago and locked and unlocked it. I thought all was well. Today I used that door and tied to lock it from outside. I discovered that the key cannot be removed when the lock is in the locked position! This makes it absolutely useless, as I must leave the key in (anyone with a functioning hand could then unlock it), or take the key out leaving the door unlocked. What a disappointment and complete waste of time and money! Here is my original 4 star review...I believe it illustrates my fairness as a reviewer: For the price, great. After installing I tested the key and it was not smooth at all. After lubricating, however, it was acceptable. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

Screws with the black lock are Gold. Ordered 2 and both had gold screws. Have to paint the screws to match. Disappointed with that.

Replaced one just like it that was at least 15 year old. Using it on a very old and lightweight door that‘s too thin to take a deadbolt assembly. This is a reliably built, jimmy-proof surface lock. I don’t believe it’s as stout as a deadbolt. But it does a fine job on a door that anyone could easily blow through regardless of which lock was on the door. Probably better suited for a utility room than the front door of your house.

We added a walk in closet to our M/Bed. We are removing a sliding glass door and replacing it with a swing door. We wanted a surface mount deadbolt to secure this door that has no access from outside so we won’t be using keyed lock just thumb latch. Door is mainly for emergency egress. The lock works as intended and was easy to mount. Bolt is heavy enough where it would take awhile to break in. We did use longer screws to go into house framing for better security. Overall we are happy with the purchase and shipping was quick as well.
