The media could not be loaded. You guys. I don't even understand this gel. It doesn't make any sense!!! I've tried every edge gel that was ever made. I was not really excited when this arrived, since when you tap on the jar it makes the same noise that all edge gels make. You know what I mean. So, both my child and I assumed that it would be like every other edge gel - that it wouldn't dry, that it would dry and be flaky or that it would eventually melt and turn to oil that would run down our faces when its hot. We expected to be let down with gel that had our edges looking like shiny beedabees instead of like normal beedabees. We were wrong. Soooo wrong. This is the best edge gel that I have ever come across. I thought that Shea Moisture's edge gel was as good as it gets, but this stuff does not make sense. The hold is incredible. Like, we were joking about the Gorilla Glue incident while trying to mess up her edges - that's how serious it is. I have never ever ever seen an edge gel that can work this well. I've never seen an edge gel that can lay down edges for so long without needing touched up. My child did her edges in the morning. Ten hours later, she said hey ma, look at my edges! They looked good - as in they were still laid down. Fresh and new! I didn't immediately believe her when she said that they were from the morning. Later that night after she washed her face for bed, her edges were still holding - and that's when I took the picture. She tried to rub them and mess them up, and they would not move. She wrapped her hair and went to bed, and the next morning after she got a shower, her edges were still good. The staying power of this edge gel is insane - it lasted a day and a half before she needed to retouch them. It's not greasy or clumpy. It smells good. She used a standard edge brush and what she called a pea sized amount of gel for each side of her head, and her edges just stayed where she put them. Even on my 4c hair, all I need to do is take a tiny amount on my finger and swipe, and it stays all day. I'm so impressed.

I reach for a pomade when I want a stronger hold or want to do a more complex style on my thick hair. This formula is easy to work with, applying smoothly and without clumping. I had no issues working it into my hair, and it's non-greasy, which I really appreciate. It gave me great control of my hair to mold it or smooth it out before it set—then held my hair in place all day. It helped cut back on the frizz I normally have, and it made my hairstyles look sleeker and smoother. I liked how lightweight the pomade felt; I forgot I had this in my hair after putting it in. It has a very light shine, and it smelled nice, almost fruity. A little goes a long way, so I imagine a jar this size would last me a few months. A good value considering it’s effectiveness.

I use gels and pomades pretty regularly, so I’ve got a good baseline for comparison, and this one holds up well. This is a pomade, so it’s naturally thicker than a typical gel, but it’s still easy to work with. It spreads evenly without clumping, and being water-based makes a big difference—it doesn’t feel overly greasy and washes out without a struggle. The hold is solid. I keep my hair fairly short, and this keeps everything in place throughout the day without needing to reapply. It gives a clean, controlled look without feeling stiff or crunchy like some gels can. The cucumber lime scent is another plus. It’s fresh and clean, but not overpowering. You’ll notice it when you put it on, but it doesn’t linger too heavily or compete with anything else. Overall, this is a good everyday styling product if you want reliable hold with a more natural feel than traditional gel. If you prefer something lighter or looser, this might feel a bit heavy, but for controlled styles and all-day hold, it works very well. It leaves my hair feeling natural, and it's priced well for a pomade in this class. You'd pay more at the salon for comparable products.

The first time a professional used pomade in my hair, I couldn’t believe the difference it made. It was like it breathed life and volume into my previously thin and lifeless hair. I have tried a variety of products, with varying degrees of success. This is a very good one. It doesn’t have any scent, and a little goes a long way. If you are new to using pomade, just remember that less is more. I take a tiny little bit on my finger and then rub it all over my palms and fingers like I am washing my hands. Gently scrunch bits of your hair, preferably when your hair is still a tiny bit damp. Resist adding more. If you use too much, it will clump up and look like too much heavy product. If you use just a little bit, it will look like natural shine and volume. Wet hair seems to make it easier to get the right amount without putting on too much. This is a great way to start if you are new to using pomade. If you use a little bit more, it will function more as a gel. Treat yourself and give this a try!

I thought I would try the Style Factor EDGE BOOSTER to keep my hair in place during shoots & various events. The gel is a very thick gel and, as cliché as it is to say, a little goes a long way. It does a good job of keeping the hair in place without feeling like it’s glued down. However, it does leave a tacky sort of residue that dulls the hair. And the fragrance, though pleasant, is borderline overwhelming. I wouldn’t want to wear this and have to be stuck in close quarters with others. The good news is that, as it’s water-based, the product comes out easily leaving no mess. I think it’s a little much for my uses but objectively, not a bad product if you don’t mind the fragrance.
