Most of the glow sticks worked great, though a few did not. It is important to keep them in a glass or plastic container, as the liquid can cause damage if it leaks. When one did spill on my wood furniture, it removed the finish where it leaked, so extra caution is definitely needed.

When I ordered these, I thought I was getting glow sticks and necklaces. I did not. I got glow sticks and "string". Read the description carefully. It says: " Glow Sticks in Bright Assorted Colors & 50 Necklace Strings...". I shouda... At least there was no greasy residue on them as in some reviews. The first attempt in shipping was unsuccessful. It took almost a month but, I did receive my order. The next time we lose power we will see if these are as useful but safer than candles. Modified after losing power: Just spent three days without electricity here in Maine. The orange-colored glow sticks are not as bright as the blue or yellow, but they all worked better than candles. I realized that something in the candles burning all night was bothering me, probably hydrocarbons of some kind, so I decided to try the glow sticks. No flame, no batteries! The hooks on one end aid in hanging them on pull chains of overhead lights or anything else. They can go into your pocket without worry. They are obviously not as bright as a flashlight but they will get you around a dark room in safety. One glow stick leaked a bit, so I had a starry floor for a short time. The spill wiped right up with a paper towel. So, I accomplished what I set out to do. I found a non-flammable method of finding a way in the dark when the lights go out. And I have changed my rating of this product to reflect my happiness with glow sticks.

I have a pretty good bit of experience with light sticks. I use the fro camping, kayaking, hiking, boating, hunting, and pretty much anything that involves the outdoors at night. I've tested several different ones so when I saw the price of these I couln't resist. Not a whole lot to say about about a light stick other than its brightness, and life-span. As for brightness you coulnd't ask for anything more. They are pretty much equal to all the other more expensive ones. Its pretty common knowledge that the green is pretty much the brightest you can ask for, followed by the yellow. These pretty much last a entire night without much fading. But I did notice they they are completely done after 24 hours. I've had other brands that continued to give faint light after 72 hours. If you were using these for caving, then I'd opt for one of the other brands. You could actually use one of the more expensive brands for cave navigation (breadcrumb trail) and be confident that they would last far longer than a 12 or 24 hour venture. These however, I wouldn't. Other than that, you cant beat the price. Heck, fifty of these things for this price. 98 percent of you will only use these for a few hours of the night.

Good fresh stock, some retailers are selling old stock glow sticks, which aren't as bright. My preferred retailers is in Mississippi, I order from him every Halloween, but on some years like this year he is out of stock, so I have to turn to Amazon. I have received old stock from some of these vendors in the past, but this seller is using fresh stock shipped in its factory retail box with black ribbon lanyards. I strongly recommend buying aftermarket lanyards with spring loaded clips, hand knotting a couple hundred ribbon lanyards is a nightmare if you have large numbers of Trick or Treaters, for small numbers these free lanyards included are just fine.
