I’ve tried to buy a solar system but the problem is they are just so expensive. I also have 4 kids who cannot seem to figure out how to turn off the lights - specifically the bathroom light. They can only flip up but not down apparently. To be more energy conscious, I removed all of the light bulbs in the house and we now glow sticks. When you drop one of these bad boys it feels military-like and sometimes I yell out go codes. The best part is dropping one of these sticks at dusk keeps the restroom light up all night and we’ve saved hundreds on our electric bill. The best part is that these are a fraction of what it costs for a solar system but yet they still managed to get the power of the sun in these little tubes. Amazing!

The green and yellow work really well, but the other colors take a long time to "activate" and when they do the glow is still a little dull. Value for the money is good, you do get a lot of them. Size was nice there are bigger than the other ones we usually use. It is fun to give them to the kids and let them fun around.

When I ordered these, I thought I was getting glow sticks and necklaces. I did not. I got glow sticks and "string". Read the description carefully. It says: " Glow Sticks in Bright Assorted Colors & 50 Necklace Strings...". I shouda... At least there was no greasy residue on them as in some reviews. The first attempt in shipping was unsuccessful. It took almost a month but, I did receive my order. The next time we lose power we will see if these are as useful but safer than candles. Modified after losing power: Just spent three days without electricity here in Maine. The orange-colored glow sticks are not as bright as the blue or yellow, but they all worked better than candles. I realized that something in the candles burning all night was bothering me, probably hydrocarbons of some kind, so I decided to try the glow sticks. No flame, no batteries! The hooks on one end aid in hanging them on pull chains of overhead lights or anything else. They can go into your pocket without worry. They are obviously not as bright as a flashlight but they will get you around a dark room in safety. One glow stick leaked a bit, so I had a starry floor for a short time. The spill wiped right up with a paper towel. So, I accomplished what I set out to do. I found a non-flammable method of finding a way in the dark when the lights go out. And I have changed my rating of this product to reflect my happiness with glow sticks.
