Attached this to my 25 foot RV. It allows me to carry larger/ longer items that don’t fit in the coaches’ outside storage bins, e.g., 22 inch griddle with cover & stand, and 2 large lawn chairs. And there’s still room for lots of miscellaneous stuff. Mine came with the lid already attached, so it was easy to install but you need a second person to assist at times as it is too heavy and cumbersome for one person. I have put a couple of thousand miles on it so far, some in rainy conditions and it has kept my items clean and dry. Based on its performance so far, it looks to be durable. While there may be less expensive expensive alternatives, the fit, finish and overall quality of the product justifies the price. ... show more

The only thing I didn't like was losing the backup camera (the factory camera on my 2016 Forester was too low to see over the box). I recently added a camera (DoHonest HD 1080P Digital Wireless Backup Camera Kit with 5 Inch TFT Monitor) . I drilled a hole to run the camera wire into the box and over to the tail light, and sealed the hole with black silicone. I have to turn the running or headlights on to power it up but that gives an added avantage of being able to use it at any time, and avoids the hassle of conneting to backup light on the car and running wire to the camera , plus the wiring is inside, protected from the weather. Monitor is a simple install, I used the included sticky pads to mount the holder rather on the dash than use the windshield suction cup, and the power cord plugs in to the cigarette lighter outlet and done. I've included photos of the camera installation, along with overall shots of the box on the Forester. My wife does dog agility and the rear of the car is always packed with dog gear so the added easily accesiblie space is a perfect solution. I love the convienience and especially in these days of Covid it's a wonderful way to pick up curbside groceries without contact. ... show more

This has been a quality-of-life saver. I travel for my work. So my car ends up pretty full of 'stuff' by the end of a contract. I purchased this as a way to expand my storage space, without the hassle of pulling a trailer or crawling on top of my roof as I drive around while saving the interior of my SUV. This box is incredibly well made, it's solid and survived the shipping process flawlessly. The instruction provided are clear and detailed. The company (or at least it's Amazon account question answerer) are very responsive and helpful. The only knock. While technically you can assemble this with one person. It would probably be much, much easier with two or three. The components are bulky and sturdy; while great for traveling the interstates, isn't so great if you're placing this by yourself on your hitch during an August afternoon. Another small items of note obviously when the metal heats in the sun it expands so the arm latch becomes a bit difficult for me to manipulate. Certainly some will have no problems, but be aware. I'll solve this in the future by trying to park out of direct sunlight. ... show more

Excellent product. I love the swing away option. I didn't realize the box had taillights as well as a place for your license plate and a light for it too. It was very expensive, but living van life in a minivan doesn't give me a lot of storage space. This solved the problem and gave me an extra workspace to cook outdoors, and I can even stand on it to access my rooftop storage box and clean my solar panels. So, I will definitely get my money's worth by the many ways I can use this box. Being bear proof is a huge selling point because now I can carry my dog's extra food in the box instead of in my living space. ... show more

Quite honestly, I was amazed. I read the reviews, and did my research on simulator storage options. I am hard to impress but this thing impressed me to the max. Well built and built tough right here in the USoA! I bought this as extra storage for my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder and a Christmas road trip to Colorado. All of our families Christmas presents were locked away inside and out of sight. I didn't worry about them at all (I did buy a locking hitch pin) through rain, snow or overnight at the hotel. I look forward to many more years and road trips ahead. The only downside is, it is a bit heavy and storing in the garage when not in use takes up a lot of real estate. The StowAway max was easy to assemble with the clear instructions. I purchased it for my hoses, leveling blocks, chairs and grill to be used with my class B motorhome. I keep prepared with 30 ft of sewer and 75 ft of water hoses. This was the only way to carry them on a class B. The unit works great. I would definitely buy it again. Love it! Took a National Parks trip this past summer with two of our grandchildren. So much added space. Easy to work and nothing ever got wet. My husband placed a rubber around the opening rim and made it totally waterproof.
