This has been a quality-of-life saver. I travel for my work. So my car ends up pretty full of 'stuff' by the end of a contract. I purchased this as a way to expand my storage space, without the hassle of pulling a trailer or crawling on top of my roof as I drive around while saving the interior of my SUV. This box is incredibly well made, it's solid and survived the shipping process flawlessly. The instruction provided are clear and detailed. The company (or at least it's Amazon account question answerer) are very responsive and helpful. The only knock. While technically you can assemble this with one person. It would probably be much, much easier with two or three. The components are bulky and sturdy; while great for traveling the interstates, isn't so great if you're placing this by yourself on your hitch during an August afternoon. Another small items of note obviously when the metal heats in the sun it expands so the arm latch becomes a bit difficult for me to manipulate. Certainly some will have no problems, but be aware. I'll solve this in the future by trying to park out of direct sunlight.

Excellent storage option if you need additional space and don’t have or want a trailer. Easy to install and setup (with 2 people). I recommend for buyers to look at what kind of trailer plug they have... I had to buy a $8 flat to round trailer adapter. Other customers had recommended to buy a hitch tightener which I did, however my product came with one so I will return it. PROS: -Build quality is above expectations. -Mine stayed water proof for 1400 miles though 20 hours of rain. -Backup safety latch hand screw -Quality steel frame Cons: Not a big deal, but there is a space for mounting license plate but no predrilled holes. The brake light cables dont have any convenient mounting hooks or ways to stow excess cabling. When box isn’t mounted I had to tape cord to side of box to prevent damage. So superficial complaints but not a deal breaker. I completely recommend buying. P.S. Note: In some cases (Tahoe/Suburban) you wont be able to open the lift gate all the way, so in my case I pulled the box out of hitch to last hole. This did stay safe and sung for duration of trip. Before I returned I purchased a 8” hitch extension so if fit better. Same result just better peace at mind.

This thing is legit. Heavy duty, lots of room, easy to install. This is a game changer highly recommend. Customer service also is Excellent . I had a minor issue and called an actually made contact with a real human being on my first try and very quickly!

Attached this to my 25 foot RV. It allows me to carry larger/ longer items that don’t fit in the coaches’ outside storage bins, e.g., 22 inch griddle with cover & stand, and 2 large lawn chairs. And there’s still room for lots of miscellaneous stuff. Mine came with the lid already attached, so it was easy to install but you need a second person to assist at times as it is too heavy and cumbersome for one person. I have put a couple of thousand miles on it so far, some in rainy conditions and it has kept my items clean and dry. Based on its performance so far, it looks to be durable. While there may be less expensive expensive alternatives, the fit, finish and overall quality of the product justifies the price.

We just took our first road trip with the StowAway; Dallas to North Carolina. It's heavy and will take two people to assemble and install on your vehicle. It's easy to use, holds a lot of stuff and swings out of the way of your rear door easily. Ours is attached to a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the moment, but we will switch it to our other SUV for the trip home as the GJ will stay at the NC house. We are traveling with two dogs and a cat so we need all the room we can get in the car. This is a great solution and functions as advertised.

This is an excellent storage carrier for a Jeep Wrangler. You do need to swing open to open the lid but that what makes it fantastic. Built heavy duty, easy to install, easier to slide into the receiver with 2 people. You loose the backup camera and need to remount the license plate but real easy. We traveled with 2 Aussies and put an air mattress on one side of the back with the seats folded down so one person could sleep with the pups. Drove 26 hours straight through to Florida. It’s very sturdy. Very happy with the purchase.

This is a very good, practical piece of equipment. However for its price there are a few drawbacks; for starters, assembly is somewhat of a nightmare; each piece is heavy and it’s tricky to do without a second person. The box itself if deceptively small. At best all I was able to fit were two Rubbermaid storage totes. For $800+ I was expecting it to carry more. I don’t know what the reason is for that. It appears large and the dimensions listed on Amazon are accurate. Maybe my expectations were too high? It’s really the price that bothers me the most. For almost $1000 you should be getting something that can carry tons of cargo. For $200 you can rent a Uhaul 5x8 cargo trailer with a lot more cargo space. I understand most people don’t want to tow(myself included) but there are better options for the price

I provided all the required dimensions for my 2024 Bronco and the mounting hardware provided is incorrect. The 2” receiver shaft is too short and the storage box would not mount on the platform. They expect the customer to pay to ship it back and a 15% restocking fee when the provided the wrong hardware. I kept it and first trip the frame under the box bent from a couple road bumps. Very poor quality. Wish I would have returned it.
