  • Top quality tankless water heater at a great price!
Size: 36 (Kw) Style: Tempra Plus
I'd been looking to get a tankless water heater for a few years, but the unit prices plus installation were just too high until now. This Stiebel Eltron whole home electric tankless water heater was out of my budget until I found this open box unit price reduced by 48% of retail. This 2025 SE unit has a top of the line digital display panel that makes increasing temperature and gpm water pressure and flow adjustments easy and instant. You'll wonder why you waited so long. If you're a DIY person there are also multiple you tube videos about how to install and what's needed. The most important thing to know is that this unit requires 3-50amp dedicated breakers, so check your electrical panel before you buy any tankless heater as the amps needed vary based on the heater size and gpm's needed. I highly recommend this high quality Stiebel Eltron Tempra 36pro whole home tankless water heater as it produces 100°+ hot water within 1-2 minutes vs my old 75 gallon tank that caused me to wait 5-7 minutes and wasted several gallons of water before it reached the hot temperature I needed to bathe or shower. I can't wait to compare the savings, and I recommend this SE Tempra 36pro tankless water heater. The electrical wiring and installation requires an electrician or an experienced person to install this top of the line high-end, best in quality and performance unit. Thank you Stiebel Eltron for selling top quality equipment at a great price and free Prime shipping. You made this a 100% positive Amazon experience! ... show more

  • Nice tankless heater
Size: 36 (Kw) Style: Tempra Plus
We recently installed this tankless heater at my mother's house and it is replacing the exact same model that was installed almost 14 years ago. The new unit works well and is adequate to supply her 4 bathrooms at the same time. Installation is easy if you know basic electric and plumbing and already have 3 legs of 50 amp power running to the unit. We had a small issue with the temp adjustment knob but a quick call to their tech support and they provided me with some suggestions that ultimately resolved the issue. So far we are happy with the device and hope to get many years out of it. This is a well established company with a good quality product. ... show more

  • I hate this thing
Size: 36 (Kw) Style: Tempra Plus
I am so disappointed that we invested in this electric water heater. I was actually excited when our old water heater died on us because I’ve been wanting tankless for a while. We also have solar at home so I knew we wanted electric. All research pointed us to this brand so we went for it. 900 bucks and another couple grand for install later I can’t wait to tear it out and replace it. Why? Not energy efficient. We have 3 bathrooms in our home so got the highest model yet when we run the shower it takes a while (7-10 min) for the hot water to come through to our 2nd floor bathrooms so we’re pulling lots of energy waiting it out. Okay fine. Well it wasn’t until I got my electric bill for over $400 that I realized it takes soooo much power to heat up even our solar (I live in california AND I have 3 solar batteries!!!) couldn’t manage it! Because of it all of us have moved to showering in the downstairs bathroom and being mindful of how long we shower (like, legit army showers) because of how incredibly high the bill was. On top of that, while it was pulling about 10-15 kW of energy to heat our showers, I stupidly decided to draw a bath for the kids and that kicked it up to 30kW!!!!!! It’s absolutely crazy. (For comparison and reference, if I left every light and fan on in my 3k house, ran both my HVAC air conditioners, run both my Dutch ovens, AND my air fryer, my home would pull about 16 kW of energy! You really need to understand what triggers the water heater and how much power it thinks it needs to pull based on the flow/regulator. Consistency. Despite the high price tag that came with heating my shower I would have at least appreciated it if the water remained consistent once we got it hot, which is a standard expectation for tankless water heaters. But no. It is so fickle. It’ll get awesomely hot but then 10 min later go cooler. Sometimes ice cold. I’ve tried everything to ‘trick’ it back to engage the hot setting - like turning off the shower entirely wait 10 seconds maybe tap dance for good luck and then turn it back on. It sometimes worked. If I wanted to adjust the temp midway for any reason it also seems to trigger it to turn off! It is maddening. And my kids are miserable I feel so bad for them. I would literally scream in the shower then this would happen to me. So frustrating. Water pressure - even though we got the top of line high performance model my beautiful shower greatly reduced in water pressure no matter what we do. Our water pressure in general is set quite high so it was really surprising this could even happen. Customer service was the same unfriendly woman the couple of times we called; we had to really be charming before being able to get her from cold to acceptably tepid (like their product). She finally shared that there probably isn’t anything that can be done on their end as our shower heads and faucets have regulators that ‘speak’ to the water heater to engage it etc and apparently something weird is going on. Fantastic, gas light us to say it’s not me it’s you. So we are helpless. By the time we figured all this out it was beyond the return date. Of course. We plan to probably go back to a regular tank heater at this point because we are scared to lose even more money. Hope to sell this piece of junk and maybe it’ll actually work properly for someone else. We give up. We got the most expensive best capacity model available. Maybe the other models are fine given the reviews I see here but I needed to share our very frustrating and costly experience. Please do your research - there’s so much more than just hooking this up. Find out what pressure is needed to engage the heating and understand any regulators your showerheads may have. And before the return window closes. Good luck! ... show more

  • I like it and hoping I'll love it
Size: 36 (Kw) Style: Tempra Plus
Installed the 150amp unit on my own. Used sharkbites and flexible hoses to move the CPVC fittings from the old electric tank heaters. Unit went in fairly easy. Called for 6AWG wiring which was a pain to work with just due to size and bending it around. So far the hot water has been excellent, just have to wait a bit for it to reach the faucet/shower. I'm hoping this decreases the energy bill, but also watching for real power draw and how many batteries/solar I would need IF I wanted to power via alternative energy. I did have an issue at install where the voltage on one line would slowly drop from 124v->84v if you held a multimeter to it and watched it. The unit did not error but would slow gpm output to meet outgoing temp as 1 of 3 heating canisters in the unit would not heat. Root cause ended up being a bad breaker. I would not have known there was an issue as there were no alarms from the unit on low voltage. I started investigating when gpm was limited for size and I noticed 1 of the 50 amp breakers not pulling power. I'm getting ~ 3gpm at 130 degrees using Southeast water which is ~55F. This gives me 2 simultaneous showers. Anything more and the unit will start regulating flow to ensure outgoing water is 130F degrees. After everyone has used it for a few days I'll work on decreasing the temp to try and get a hire gpm output. Shout out to Paul Barnard at Stiebel Eltron support who answered an email question on a weekend and gave me a call to help find the root cause of the canister not heating. Excellent support from the manufacturer. The conduit holes at the bottom at 1 1/8". 3/4" conduit fits just right. Unit will not turn on until all 3 breakers are on and supplying power. ... show more
