This definitely got our water hotter faster than our 40 gallon gas water heater we had before. It took 4 full days of work, including plumbing in the crawl space and drilling a hole through the roof for venting. Be prepared to this work or to pay for it. By the time we paid for all the tools and extra material needed, that was an additional $350ish so keep that in mind if you don’t know that you have the tools needed! We are very excited about this as a space saver & we were told by the assessor that came to our home that these do raise the home value in our area (central IL) so big bonus! Easy to install. Additional parts are required, including special water valves, a pressure relief valve, a filter, an expansion tank( not featured in my picture) and an optional mixing valve. It's nice that it includes a cabled remote control. You don't have to physically access it to change the settings. Quiet operation. Quick and powerfull heating. Optionally you may add a circulation pump for additional pressure, if your house is big or the unit is in a remote location. Happy with it. ... show more

So, I won't pretend to be a plumber and/or HVAC person; and this unit is installed for a 1 kitchen sink and 1 bathroom sink and the shower for use. It's been good so far - my only complaint is the time it takes (10-15 sec) to get you hot water even though this is a relatively small area/ short distance install! It does need a vent and a drip/pump for condensation accumulation, etc. That is all on the plumber... ... show more

We had bought another brand March 2022. It was a terrible product reviews were inaccurate and it was not large enough for our small home. After getting nowhere with the warranty team for the first product and after enormous research for this product, we are so very grateful we spent the extra money and got this very good hot water tank. So far it does everything it claims- the only downfall is the packaging is beyond subpar! The first unit arrived extremely damaged. Amazon customer service was not helpful. I insisted on speaking to a manager who was fantastic and immediately sent a replacement unit. The packaging again was subpar but thankfully it was not damaged. This company absolutely needs to have triple the protection in packaging on this $1400 unit ... show more

A few months after buying this water heater it would stop working. When this happened it usually started working if we tried stopping the water and restarting a few times. If it never worked it would always be fixed by flipping the breaker and then turning it back on. This problem continues. I would get an error code 12. After finally calling them they told me I had to hire someone to check the gas flow pressure and call them back when the gas guy was present with me. I did that this morning and the pressure was fine. They then had me send pictures of the installation, send it to them, and call them back in ten minutes. When I called back they told me my venting was wrong and that was the problem as I had to have separate intake and exhaust pipes and not use a concentric vent termination . I went to the installation instructions and it showed that you could use this type of termination. So she said she was sending my call to someone else. I waited on hold for 45 minutes. This guy told me he needed to talk to me while I was at my unit so I could do video of the vent termination, and also I needed to take out the burner manifold and clean it and I am supposed to clean it every year. I had checked my vent and it was clean, but by that time I had gone back to work. And they close at 5PM so I would have to take off work again and be on hold for a long time again to do this crap which likely has nothing to do with the problem. How in the world is a burner problem a problem that is always fixed by throwing the breaker off and on? It was a big mistake getting such a complicated piece of machinery that obviously has a faulty part or faulty design and they are doing their damndest to not have to pay for a warranty repair. I really have no choice but to keep throwing the breaker until it doesn't work at all and then get a tank water heater. ... show more

Item was delivered by two employees, Box was badly beaten, one side was completely open. a strap was the only thing holding the box closed. The packing inserts to cusion the heater were broken. fell apart when unpackaging the heater. The front cover has three dents in three of the four corners. Installation went pretty easy with one note. There were 10 steps on the installation instructions, but no step 9. ... show more

We had a no name 3 gallon continuous hot water heater that gave up the ghost. It was nice but dang, this Rheem blows it away! It's a 9 gallon a minute hot water heater and it works sooooooo well. Steamy hot water that lasts forever, no joke. It is a complex install, so we hired a plumber for that. Install cost about 1100. Way worth it! ... show more
