Product description Stiebel Eltron 074058 Model CK 15 E Wall-Mounted Electric Fan Heater, 120 Volts, 1500 Watts, 12.5A, 5118 Btu/hr Rated Output, 18W Shaded Pole Motor, Extremely Quiet Operation at 49.7 dB(a)The CK, CKT, and CK Trend are designed and made in Germany. These elegant, surface-mount fan heaters are extremely quiet. They are a simple solution to quickly add heat to a room that may not get enough heat from a central source, as sometimes happens with a mini-split retrofit, or they can add heat to a space that never had it before, like a porch retrofit. CK, CKT, and CK Trend heaters have an integral thermostat, but the CK can be linked to a central thermostat if it is installed in a room larger than 215 sq. ft.Stiebel Eltron CK wallmounted fan heaters use a small, quiet fan to pull in room air and send out heated air. These heaters are perfect for spaces like bathrooms that already have a primary heat source, but may need a little extra heat added quickly.Key FeaturesSleek European surface-mount designExtremely quiet operation at 49.7 dB(a)Built-in thermostat for maximum comfortDowndraft design heats space evenlyQuality German manufacturingFrost protection settingIdeal anywhere quick heat is neededSpecificationsVoltage: 120VWattage: 1500WAmperage: 12.5ARated output: 5118 Btu/hrRecommended circuit breaker size: 15AMinimum wire size (copper): 14 AWGHeating element: Nichrome wireThermostat & high limit: Bimetal typeMotor: 18W shaded poleBlower: Galvanized steel, squirrel cage typeTemperature range: 41°F – 86°F / 5°C – 30°CFrost protection setting: 45°F / 7°COperating noise: 49.7 dB(a)Dimensions (HxWxD): 18-1/8" x 13-3/16" x 4-13/16"Weight: 8.0 lbs From the Manufacturer Stiebel Eltron CK 15E Wall Mounted Electric Fan Heater-120V/1500 watts offers and exciting room heating alternative for new construction and renovation projects. • Impressive little unit
There were a couple of screws which keep the blower motor intact that had fallen out & were rattling around inside the unit's casing. It wasn't difficult for my husband to fix, but it might have been an intimidating frustration for some people. Once he fixed that small issue, it was easy to install. It is quiet, blows strong and looks like it's going to efficiently heat the 350 sq ft tiny house we bought it for. The unit arrived promptly. I'd have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the loose screws. The German manufacturer has good reviews & I expect it will serve us well. ... show more

  • Great for the garage
This is a great heater in the garage. It is quiet. The wiring directions are a little difficult to understand. We ran a wiring off the heater to an external thermostat and then the thermostat to the outlet. It works great and maintains temperature in an insulated 2 stall garage. Even when its below 0. ... show more

  • Works as advertised
I have a 3 season porch. It faces North and up where I live the North wind is relentless. In fact last winter it blew out one of the windows on the porch. Last spring a freak hail storm took care of the rest of them. I put all new windows in and got a puppy. I can't leave the dog in the house just yet and a kennel wasn't working so I needed a space to keep her in during the day. For reasons noted above any old space heater wasn't an option. She'd eat it for dinner. I needed something I can safely put on a wall out of reach. I picked this heater for that reason. The price seemed a little much but after reading the reviews and finding nothing else close to this I bought it. The thing is about as large as a paper towel dispenser in the mens room, is as loud as a very high quality bathroom exhaust fan (a very quiet one) and puts out heat about the same capacity as the forced air vents in the house (except warmer). Mounting it was very easy using the supplied brackets. It doesn't run constantly. It cycles. My porch is roughly 180 square feet so I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be enough to make a difference. Today the outside temp dropped to -2 with that stupid wind and the temp on the porch dropped down to 48 degrees. I have it set on a low to medium setting at the current time. With the weather in the 20's and it set on medium (2 on the dial), the temperature was 70 degrees (warmer than in the house; spoiled dog). I had to turn it down. It doesn't come with a power cord but I picked one up at the hardware store and wired an outlet in the room towards the ceiling. It was simple to wire up but the instructions could be better on how to hook it up. At this time I am rating 5 stars because it is doing exactly what was advertised. I have/had some concerns with this unit. 1) The air flow is drawn in from the backside using a squirrel cage fan. I was concerned that the wall would get hot from the heating element but after close monitoring and some testing, that is not the case. The rear isn't even warm. 2) There is no filter of any type so after a season of use, I'm concerned that things will get dirty inside this unit. I will open it up and see what I can do next Spring. 3) The so called thermostat that is on the side is a trial and error type. It's a dial with 1, 2, 3 on it. I'm not even sure that it is maintaining a constant temp as much as it is just timing how long the unit runs and sits idle. If all goes well this year I might be inclined to wire in something that I can set a temperature to. ... show more

  • Heats Okay - Installation Difficult
Looks snazzy. That's mostly where the fun ends. It outputs a fair amount of heat. There's no magic there: put 1500 watts of electricity in, get 1500 watts of heat out. If there's any trick that makes one heater better than another "heat-wise," it'd be how well the fan circulates the air and how well the louvres direct it. This model has a squirrel cage fan inside that moves a decent amount of volume. Of course, getting to the "fun" part is where the non-fun lives. This heater isn't designed to be installed by a consumer lay-person. The instructions don't really instruct. The stuff they tell you makes no sense, regardless of audience. If the audience is the consumer, the instructions are grossly inadequate. They tell you what to do, and sorta tell you how to do some of it, except they then caution you to not follow their instructions exactly, that you'll have to wing-it. You need to crack the case to get at the electric connecting block. They don't tell you that, and it's no big deal for a professional, but consumers generally don't start using their products by taking them apart, especially if they aren't told to do so. That part you have to figure out. Once the unit is opened your presented with probably a grand total of $4 worth of material and labor to produce this heater. I've seen $10 portable heaters with more impressive internals. It's dead-simple inside, and the case is so overly large for the mechanical & electrical components inside you'd wonder if they were trying to compensate for a feeling of inadequacy. I'm sure the claim is the air-gap is needed so the case doesn't get hot. Except that it does, and it's not ventilated anyways. This product claims professional installation is required. If this item is meant for contractors or electricians, then way do the instructions belabor obvious & insignificant items? "Use screws adequate to hold it's weight." Really? I was thinking of using screws completely inadequate for the weight. No, really. My grand plan was to use inadequate everything. They're instructing a professional to use adequate screws??? Should I not lick the two AC wires if they're live too? (Hint: don't touch any part of your body to live household AC) Whether consumer or professional the worst part is the wall mounting. You'll need to prepare in advance to get to that part as the unit does not come with mounting screws, wires, conduit, or any other hardware you might need. Included in the box is the heater, two brackets, & the instruction manual. The two brackets are simple enough: a horizontal one across the top that the heater hangs on (those adequate screws used to attach to the wall), and a small bracket at the bottom to keep the bottom from swinging outward. The tricky part is the electrical connector. Most electrical contractors are used to doing electrical things a certain way. Municipal & state codes generally mandate those details. Items inside walls will generally be either Romex or wires in conduit. If the former is used, you now have exposed Romex, which is generally a code violation and provides a non-sealed entry way for critters to enter the wall as a bonus. If conduit is going into a box, as is frequently done, you now have the new trick of lining up the bracket and the conduit. You can try and mark the conduit hole after the unit is installed, but most electricians I've worked with run the conduit first and then attach appliances. You can't attach to the conduit first and then mark the brackets because you can't access the bracket holes if the heater is attached. The net result is something's going to be sloppy somewhere: either the brackets won't line up properly, or the hole will be too large because you needed some adjustment room. To say the installation isn't thought out well is apparent after you're forearm deep in the project. I'm way handier than most folks and I think I know poor engineering when I see it because I'm an engineer. Just in case old-age is catching up with me I reviewed the manufacturer's installation videos. It was the same as the included instructions, providing painfully obvious suggestions for the professional, but no useful detail, and being vague to the point of uselessness for the consumer. End-user installation instructions glossed over glaring problems resulting in suggestions that were unsafe, illegal, or both, & had the added bonus of showing bracket installation with the bottom-bracket attached to the wall upside-down. For the installation hassle issue versus the heat provided, I'd suggest a portable heater. ... show more
