Color: Grenadine
This dutch oven is amazing. Cleans up easily. Cooks unbelievable. By far the best ive ever used. Is it pricey? Yes. But it outperforms any other dutch oven made. If your serious about your food this is a must have.

  • Perfect
Color: Matte Black
There’s nothing I don’t like. Giant size for roasting big roasts or tons of veggies, beautiful to look at, easy to clean. Perfect!

  • A Lot of Imperfections in Fit and Finish
Color: Matte Black
I purchased the 8.82qt (listed as 9qt on the website, actual diameter of lid is 11-3/4") through Amazon Global Store UK on Amazon.com at around $290 USD, with tax came out to just under $320. A pretty good price. I've purchased Staub before, and the fit and finish of this piece has me wondering if this is a knockoff. There are multiple uneven surfaces, chips in the cast iron that are enameled over, and the font of the Staub lettering does not have the crisp sharp look of my other Staub pieces. I believe this might be a factory second, and that is the reason for the heavily discounted price. Buyer beware, if something is too good to be true or probably is. I've only had it for a couple days, and it is holding heat properly, so the issues are only cosmetic. I see no cracks or fissures under the enamel that have me concerned about the longevity of the piece. ... show more

  • Perfect size
Color: Matte Black
This Dutch oven is in my opinion the perfect size. It’s large enough for a hearty soup, or braising a formidable roast. The black color is impressive, and goes with everything. Item arrived in a timely fashion, and in good condition.

  • Excellent Enameled Cast Iron Cookware
The enameled cookware by Staub is excellent in quality. The interior is a textured, black enamel. This has two advantages. First, the black enamel shows few scratches or discoloration from cooking utensils, food, and wear and tear. (The enameled surface actually gets better over time, similar to the way in which blue steel or non-enameled cast iron need to be seasoned to improve their usage and longevity.) Second, the textured surface of the Staub interior (unlike Le Creuset, for example) helps brown and sear food, improving the taste of seared and braised dishes. The knob for Staub cookware is always metal, typically with a brass or nickel finish. This is another advantage that Staub has over Le Creuset. The standard knobs on Le Creuset are made from a type of plastic and cannot take temperatures well beyond 400-450°, while Staub knobs are rated (along with the cookware) for 450-500°. This is important if you ever what to use your cookware in the oven at high temperatures. I've owned Le Creuset cookware in the past, but have switched over to Staub because of the quality and longevity. They last for years and with good, careful handwashing look almost the same as when I've bought them. Note: I've only used both Staub and Le Creuset over gas or electric stoves, not induction cooktops, so I cannot speak to that. Thanks! ... show more

  • High artisanal level product
Color: Cherry
It does what it promises! Excellent slow cooking. Even temperature distribution prevents burns & scorches of stew. Inside enamel coating enables relatively easy cleaning. Dish washer compatible - significant advantage.

  • Nice Form but Questionable Functionality
Color: Cherry
This oven is solidly built, heavy, well enameled, and pretty. On those factors it compared favorably with and even exceeded the LC 9 quart. However, the Staub lid had a pronounced wobble that allowed significant steam escape during a simmer test. I checked lid fit on the Staub 8.875 quart ovens at William Sonoma and Sur La Table because I wanted to see what my chances were for receiving a tighter fitting lid in exchange. All of the Staub 8.875 quart ovens checked had some degree of lid wobble. Consequently, I opted for a refund. By the way, the LC 9 quart I bought had the most tightly fitting lid of the LC outlet store's inventory, but even it wobbles slightly. The manufacturers are silent on this issue. The user opinions seem to run about 50-50 between those who view some lid wobble as not a big deal and those who say the opposite. I'm not sure who is correct, but it seems like some sort of gasket (e.g., parchment paper, dough, foil, etc.) is required to create a tight seal between lid and oven on these units. ... show more
