    • Looks like a Stanley #4 Plane....But it isn't

I don't know what experiences others have had, but this is not a good plane... the blade was not as sharp as it needed to be, does not hold an edge, and the metal of the blade chips badly. I have other #4's in my shop so I tried switching out parts to see what the main problems with the plane were. The frog screw adjustment that hold the frog to the body cannot adjust forward enough. The metal of the blade is not hard enough to hold a good edge. The frog also holds the blade at the wrong angel. The cam lock does NOT have a flat tip to hold down the blade and chip breaker. Save your money, and avoid the aggravation. This is a cheap Chinese knockoff that is not engineered properly and can't be tuned up. ... show more
