  • [JAPANESE PULL-STYLE CHAMFER PLANE] This traditional Japanese chamfer plane is perfect for smoothing the edges of wood and finishing woodworking projects. Unlike Western planes, Japanese planes are pulled toward you, delivering more consistent, controlled cuts with less effort. Trusted by both beginners and professional woodworkers.
  • [ADJUSTABLE ANGLES: 30/45/60] Adjust the guide angle to 30, 45, or 60 degrees to achieve the ideal chamfer for your project.
  • [RAZOR-SHARP JAPANESE STEEL BLADE] The blade is crafted from Japanese high-carbon steel and sharpened by expert craftsmen for an exceptionally smooth surface. Ready to use out of the box. A double-blade design with a chipbreaker reduces tear-out and improves safety and efficiency compared to single-blade planes.

  • Set it up right and it works like a charm. Find the YouTube video.
Like all Japanese planes, this one takes adjustment to the throat and sharpening and honing of the iron to become usable. Almost all the negative comments listed here appear to be from buyers who didn't realize that, and the ad certainly doesn't make it clear. On YouTube there is a good video of how to tune a new Kakuri Kanna plane that it this plane without the rail. The directions there won't work for the sole due to the rail nuts there, but the instructions for adjustment of the throat and sharpening the unique iron were excellent. I made 6 foot long chamfers with 1/8" setbacks on each side of the corner, taking off a single long thin shaving each time, and loving the feel of it. Set it up right, polish it sharp, practice a little, and pull evenly, letting the plane do the work. You'll get better with every pass. I love using this tool! ... show more

  • Nice tool -- takes some practice.
This is a simple and well made tool. Very sharp blade. It makes clean cuts with minimal effort but you need to take a little time on scrap wood pieces to develop your technique. Watch the grain direction and spend 10 minutes or so practicing before using it on a project that you care about.

  • Good in theory, not so good in practice
This is a well made plane that doesn’t really function the way it was imagined. It doesn’t have any manufacturing defects, just a design issue. Once you get used to the blade holder and the way it works you will quickly realize that this plane requires both hands to use, unlike a typical kirimen kanna. One of the reviewers has an image illustrating what happens when you use it one handed. The next issue is that this plane is one directional. That is, if you want to run chamfers on both sides of the face the reference face will be different because a fence can be attached to one side only. It doesn’t matter for 45°, but it matters for 60° chamfer. Or you will be running one chamfer against the grain. Because the fence is one sided and because you need both hands it becomes tricky using it on stock smaller than 2" wide. It’s possible, but it’s tricky: gotta figure clamping your part such that a side and both ends are completely unobstructed. It wouldn’t be a problem if a fence would have been symmetrical This plane doesn’t have depth limits, so be careful and put a pencil line. Can it be used successfully? Yes, of course. Would I buy it again? Probably not, I would rather get a modern metal one. ... show more

  • Excellent design but blade needs sharpening
This was the most practical tool I could locate for being able to put multiple different types of cornering on various projects. Excellent construction, decent cost, well documented. Wording is in Japanese, but the diagrams are simple and clear. Wood is beautiful, which was not expected. This allows for three different angles for bevels. But out of the box, the blade is not sharp enough. Which.. Fair enough. You need to learn how to put an edge on any iron for this sort of work. It sucks but isn't enough to drop to 3 stars ... show more

  • Extremely impressed
One of those tools that surprised me in the best of ways! Once you get used to it the chamfer it creates is perfect, aesthetically pleasing and most importantly, extremely repeatable. Highly recommend this little hidden gem to any woodworker or hobbyists alike!

  • very hard to use
Great craftsman work but I am not able to cut 45 degree or any degree

  • Sapele cut right out of the box
Quick test cut right out of the package. Cut right through sapele without issue. I’d say its quite sharp!

  • Great product after a little TLC
I enjoyed the product for the most part. It does it's job as a champfer plane and it is very handy when you need a nice 45 or 60 degree champfer. However the blade was almost unusable right out of the box. It took some serious re-sharpening to get it to cut anything at first.
