I absolutely love the Midnight Tanzanite color! It's a gorgeous, fun shade and gives my hair a beautiful pop of color without needing to bleach it first. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to last very long on my gray hairs. The color fades much faster on my grays than I expected, so I wish it had better staying power. Also, a word of warning: protect your bathtub! This dye can leave some serious color behind. Make sure you have bleach spray or a good bathroom cleaner ready before you start. Overall, I love the color enough that I'd use it again—I just wish it lasted longer on gray hair!

I have bleached my hair once and dyed it purple using a different brand a few times before using Splat. I’m really hoping it stained my hair well so I don’t have to keep re-dying every few weeks. It did stain my sink a little but I was really careful not to get it everywhere. Also after my 45 mins was up I rinsed my hair outside using the hose pipe for a good 5 mins then came in to shower that helped with not getting my tub stained. I will update this post to let everyone know when my hair starts fading. I only wash my hair twice a week. UPDATE: I redyed my hair a little over a month of posting this review. This time I let the dye sit for 2 hours before rinsing it out. It didn’t dry my hair out BUT I still used a hair conditioning mask. ANOTHER UPDATE: even though I let the dye sit for 2 hours my hair still faded within a month. I added a picture of what it looks like faded. I do think it’s fading pink because of the color correction I had to do due to the other purple brand I used and this Splat may have red undertones instead of blue so it fades pink and not blueish gray

This box was chunky! I just thought it was thick. I get this hair color all the time & this is the 1st time I have had a problem. I tried to get the chunks to desolve, didn't get them all unfortunately. Didn't realize it until I was applying the color. It started falling out of my hair so I wrapped a towel around my head. When I showered the chunks went EVERYWHERE, up the walls, the ceiling, the shower curtain, everywhere. Then tiny chunks were all over & of course they didn't rinse off. I had to get a sponge & lift up to get them off then scrub where it was because it left dye of course. OH MY GOSH, pissed me off. Can't return the item because it's past 30 days. No date on the box so I have no idea if it was old or what happened. Now I am nervous to buy more. Grrrrr

Love this color and this product. The color lasts a while and looks great even as it fades. I constantly get compliments on my hair color. My two photos are the initial dye color and over a month later! I love the way it looks as it fades. No complaints. I will continue to buy this product and have been using it for years.

I don’t know why I keep using it. Maybe it’s addictive? It’s just so messy. I know it warns us on the box, but it never ceases to amaze me just how bad it actually gets. I swear it stains other things better than our hair. I mean I’ve even learned to wash it out with a hose in the backyard so it doesn’t stain my bathtub. I wear gloves and even a week later after washing my hair, purple comes off on my hands. My clear phone case turned purple just from having it up to my ear. I mean it’s bad, but the color is sooooo good. It’s so vibrant for like a week and then it fades off onto other things around me and poof color is a distant memory. So just take that into consideration when using this product. Maybe your hair will hold the color better than mine, but friend, sometimes it ain’t worth it.
