Description

Spectre air intake systems are designed to increase horsepower and torque in your vehicle, while also working to protect your engine from harmful contaminants and debris. Each air intake system comes with a washable, reusable, low-restriction Spectre air filter, a polished aluminum intake tube, and a black powder-coated heat shield. Spectre air intake kits include the necessary rubber boots, velocity stack, stainless steel clamps, and all necessary hardware for an OE fit and finish. This was easy to install (2018 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport)- it took about an hour or so. My only suggestion would be for the seller to clearly identify the parts with an illustration or pictures to make it easier for the user. Although you can eventually figure out which is which, in the beginning, I had no idea what an "MAF Sleeve" is or some of the others that were on the list. I also used the stock screws/washers instead of the ones included because it was easier and longer. The screws for the mass air sensor that was included requires a small allen wrench but the wrench wasn't included and I didn't have one on hand. Again, I was able to use the old ones. As for sound and performance, I've only installed it this morning and took it out for a quick spin so I can't say what improvement it may have on the gas mileage. However, it does make the "throaty" sound when accelerating but no so much of the "whistling" that I got used to in my old car (with a K&N intake). Maybe that's better since most people would want that "muscular" sound in their trucks. Overall, this is a great product and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their Tacomas. Although it's cheaper than the other brands, the materials DO NOT look and feel cheap. ... show more

I'm really torn. I've had the kit in my truck for a few days. It seems to make a pretty mig difference in HP. The truck feels more responsive. I went back in because the clamps were loose but wouldn't get tight enough. So I started trying to use the originals and noticed I couldn't get the clamps loose without bending them. The instructions aren't really clear on a few points and I've noticed in a few review photos, the kit slightly set up different. The tube had a few sharp edges on it I had to clean up but overall I'd say worth the money. ... show more

Love the look of this kit!!!! Great addition to my 2017 Tacoma TRD Offroad. Noticed a little bit of pep after installing. Haven't really noticed a change in MPG yet. Sound is much improved. Can for sure hear the difference when I press the accelerator!! Was fairly easy to install, instructions could be a bit better, but overall a great kit and would recommend!! ... show more

The quality of the product is not in dispute. It looks high quality and it fits exactly like it should.... It also did make my truck sound a lot meaner and louder. The downside is shortly after the install, I got several check engine lights that turned off my traction control as well as my cruise control. I did some research and it seems that many individuals have the same problem not with just this cold air intake but several aftermarket cold air intakes. It seems to be an issue with the mass airflow sensor and how it's calibrated. ... show more

    • Worth the money
I’ve used Spectre intakes a few times and knew this would work for what I wanted. Don’t expect a huge power gain if that’s your primary reasoning for getting it. But if you want something that makes it worth putting your foot to the floor, this is worth the money. Easy install. Simple instructions. Much better cost benefit than paying $450 for something that will perform the same. I’m no expert, but if power gains is what your after, you need more than just an intake. But if you want something to make you grin when you floor it, it’s well worth it. Had a nice throttle plate whistle at the right RPM, especially now that it’s winter time.
