  • Great upgrade and can be done yourself.
Style: Metal Intake
I bought and put this cool air intake in myself. Could feel the throttle response instantly. I never put one in before. Followed the instructions. Took a couple hours a rusted bolt broke. So I just replaced with a self tapping screw. I've put 5000 miles on it since I bought it. No engine problems and does help with the gas mileage. But it sounds awesome when you step on it. • STRESSFULL!!!
Style: Metal Intake
I love it 100%!!! Best unit on themarket for the price and the chrome looks great. The issue was the install. I have a brand new Tundra TRD and its black... so you know leaning over the truck was on the stressfull side :) It installed simple based on the part and directions but the fact it was my truck... you get the idea. Im a little concerned about the vacume line adapter, it seems a little brittle for a winter install, so i would wait till a warm day when you tighten it down. Other than that it looks great, sounds nice (no whistle) and seems to be great quality over all. I would buy again when i get another truck or car. Cant beat K&N, or the price Amazon charges!!! ... show more

  • Wakes up the 5.7, but QC lacked on this one
Style: Metal Intake
Put this in an otherwise stock '21 Tundra. Definitely sounds more aggressive, still has that Tundra whistle though. I'm now reading that is a consequence of the design of the gasket between the throttle body and the engine. Either way, this did not fix that, but it is less noticeable with the increased sound of the engine. QC was pretty crap on the aluminum version I got. The mass flow sensor would not install because the hole in the adapter wasn't machined correctly and had metal in the way of its' install. I had to dremel it out to get it to work. That's really poor quality for something in this price range. Hence the 3 stars. Looks great once properly machined and installed. Has not caused any alarms, check engine lights, etc. ... show more

  • Had to modify it to get the MAF sensor installed. (Zero quality check at the factory). Not happy!
Style: Metal Intake
I was excited to get this air intake for my 2014 Tundra so I went to install it immediately after the box was delivered. To my dismay, the MAF Sensor WOULD NOT FIT into it's location in the aluminum air tube housing. The problem was that there is an aluminum sleeve inserted (and welded) into the inside of the tube (with a round hole cut into it for the MAF sensor to slide through). The aluminum sleeve was improperly positioned into the air tube and then welded in the wrong place (thereby blocking the rectangular hole in air tube housing which the MAF sensor is supposed to fit into). Needless to say, I had to spend my valuable time and money to get the tools and then modify it (drilling and jigsaw worked). I could have called the 1-800 number to get a replacement part but that would mean that I would have to re-install the original air intake and filter housing and wait a week or so for the part to arrive. I was pissed off and it was raining so I just wanted to get it done (no pics, it was pouring rain at the time and I don't have a garage to work in). No quality control or final fitment checks at the factory (obviously). I'm not happy about my experience with this product. Why is it that everything seems to be poor quality nowadays? I do not recommend THIS or ANY product which needs to be seriously modified just to fit the vehicle that it was designed for. ... show more

  • Great sound, Minimal performance gains
Style: Metal Intake
As any car guy will tell you, a CAI is a bit hit or miss on actual performance. Install - It went fairly smoothly, but the barrier box needed some wiggling to actually fit into place. I would have hoped it would have been a bit more engineered. Performance - Honestly, I cannot say there is an increase in power. I think it is a placebo effect. The sound is AMAZING. It really makes the 5.7 rumble. This sound may trick your mind into thinking you are getting more power. To be honest though, I dont see how this kit could get any colder air than the stock intake (which is in an enclosed box and has a plenum coming in from the fender). Looks - There is no denying that it looks cool. It certainly gives the appearance of performance. End result - I ended up putting a Magnuson supercharger on my truck, and THAT really showed some power boost. The CAI wasnt compatible with the S/C, so on the shelf it went. If I had to do it over, I probably wouldn't have bought it. There are other upgrades that could have given better results for comparable prices ... show more

  • Flawed!
Style: Metal Intake
Quality control dropped the ball on this one. The mass air flow sensor didn’t fit because the mounting bung either was welded in the wrong spot or they just didn’t machine the opening large enough. The sensor fit until it hit the clearly obvious area in the tube that wasn’t squared to match the mount. Irritating because I had to go buy a burr and round file to machine it the rest of the way. I give it two stars because this thing was not cheap, it is super basic, and this flaw is just BS. They say you get what you pay for and the reason I didn’t buy from a competitor was I didn’t want any issues. Well, I paid over $400 and had issues. My pictures shows the obstruction, and the other shows the snug fit it is supposed to have. There is no room for error. ... show more

  • Sounds wicked!
Style: Metal Intake
Typical quality K&N product. Relatively easy to install despite very basic instructions. No obvious increase in mileage or horsepower but it does give the engine a pretty wicked growl when accelerating. Crucial point on installation: Make certain you go back and retighten all clamps, and nuts after your first fifty miles or so. I checked the oil after my first tank of gas and found that the previously firmly attached filter cone had fallen off. Fortunately I carry a basic tool kit in the vehicle so it was no big deal. ... show more
