abunda_amazon_reviews I picked this up for my 2015 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 in it. I installed it in about an hour and not being a mechanic I was pretty proud of myself. To be honest the directions were exceptional. After the install I've noticed my gas mileage is better by about 1-2mpg but the throttle response is what has impressed me the most. If you've been thinking about purchasing this I would highly recommend doing it.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;I installed it in about an hour and not being a mechanic I was pretty proud of myself;;Dan;;;I have a 2018 Chevy 1500 6.2L V8. To be fair I do have the Black OPS Badlander edition that comes with installed flow master dual exhaust. The truck sounded great with out this and I was a little worried that it would become obnoxious when driving. To my surprise that was not the case at all. It sounds much better on start up and when you floor the gas pedal you hear it. But other then that it just sounds like a high Pro motor at idle and not the loud obnoxious teenager broken glass pack sound. I’m dating myself with that statement I know. Oh I forgot to mention my dyno test went from 489hp to 512hp. My truck is super chipped and mapped properly. It is a noticeable difference from the crappy (more expensive GM intake) you can definitely feel and hear the difference. I raced a 2019 Mustang 5.0 and had it by 2 car lengths on a quarter mile. It was easy to install, looks and sounds great. It really amplified the sound of the engine, it's like driving a completely different truck. The only thing I would change is the fittings supplied with the kit. The breather hoses come with these crappy plastic fittings that are absolutely worthless. The instructions even have a warning saying don't over tighten or they will strip. If that's an issue, why not just use metal ones? I don't get it. So I went to a hardware store and got brass fittings and now I feel much more comfortable with rubber hoses being suspended directly over my serpentine belt.;;Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Only ONE Thing I Would Change;;Nicholas S.;;;Fist mod I'd been wanting to do to my 2014 Silverado 5.3L. Bought it, installed it, and noticed my MPG went down by 2-3 mpg. Granted, I'd been a little heavy on the gas to hear that awesome sound when that air is getting pulled into the intake but I'd relaxed it a bit for awhile and noticed little difference. After a little research, I found that some people had noticed the same and attributed it to the fact that K&N uses oiled filters. It seemed that upon the first few hundred miles, some of that oil from the filter was getting on the MAF, possibly causing the engine to use more fuel to make up for the sensed decrease in air flow. I bought some MAF sensor cleaner, cleaned the MAF and over the following miles, noticed that my MPG went back up. Not faulting K&N for this, it's an oiled filter, it happens. Just be aware that this could happen and I'd recommend cleaning the MAF after driving with it for a bit. I will probably even clean it again soon to to make sure it's clean and all is running well. I had also installed a catback exhaust soon after and I absolutely love the way the pair sounds. Would definitely recommend.;;Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Awesome but be ready;;Kindle Customer;;;This is the third intake I've tried on my 2015 Silverado 5.3L. The first one was an SLP Blackwing that was so loud, I eventually took it off. It sounded good, but just way too much for me. Next I tried the Airaid MIT which is just the tube. Nice improvement in low-end feel, and noticeable small boost in high RPM power, but little to no sound over stock. Lastly, this K&N unit which seems to be the best of the three... The tube has a chrome-ish finish and looks nice. I noticed an immediate improvement in low-end throttle response, same as with the Airaid. The tires now want to break loose when accelerating out of a corner, which was not happening with the stock box. The sound is good, pretty much non-existent during cruising, but moderate to heavy throttle produces a satisfying growl that is nowhere near as obnoxious as the SLP unit. Sounds like a truck now, and nicely complements my OEM Borla muffler system. Overall very pleased with this, I'm planning to stick with this one. Truck runs fine, no check engine lights or anything. I am not exactly sure why the SLP was so loud, but the differences are that it had a plastic tube (which is an option on the K&N as well), and also the surround for the filter element was basically a plastic tub, instead of only two-sided metal like the K&N. I must assume that the plastic pieces just produced more resonance and volume...;;Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2017;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Nice job, K&N;;EB;;;Very simple install if you have spent any time under the hood of your truck. The instructions book the install at ~90 minutes, but was able to complete in around 50. The kit itself comes with everything you need, minus tools. The rubber seal for the air box does need to be trimmed to fit the box, as it is shipped in a generic length. Everything else is direct install out of the box. Performance wise, I would say that I feel a difference, but that may just be personal feelings. I did this in coupling with Borla exhaust on my 2015 Sierra and I love the combination of sounds. After a week and ~250 miles, I'm getting about 1.65 better MPG according to the computer on my standard commutes. You can really hear the engine bark back in between full throttle shifts with the open air box.;;Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Simple install and seemingly a small boost in MPG.;;Britt Nelson;;;I have a 6.2L Chevy Silverado 1500. It enhances the sound of my Magna Flow exhaust great. I've never been mistaken for a gear head but I didn't have much trouble installing it. I will say following along with a video was easier than relying solely on the instructions. The problem I had is it's extremely easy to cross thread the plastic PC valve hose fittings on the sides of the air intake. They do warn of this but I assumed the thread should be flush with the pipe, I stripped it just trying to hand tighten. Luckily, was able to find some compatible brass fittings at Ace Hardware that ultimately work better. I will say it's not as noticeable of a sound difference as I thought but overall I'm pleased.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Be careful with plastic threads!;;Amazon Customer

They do warn of this but I assumed the thread should be flush with the pipe, I stripped it just trying to hand tighten. Luckily, was able to find some compatible brass fittings at Ace Hardware that ultimately work better. I will say it's not as noticeable of a sound difference as I thought but overall I'm pleased.

I installed it in about an hour and not being a mechanic I was pretty proud of myself
I picked this up for my 2015 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 in it. I installed it in about an hour and not being a mechanic I was pretty proud of myself. To be honest the directions were exceptional. After the install I've noticed my gas mileage is better by about 1-2mpg but the throttle response is what has impressed me the most. If you've been thinking about purchasing this I would highly recommend doing it.

If you don’t own this you are cheating yourself!!
I have a 2018 Chevy 1500 6.2L V8. With a jacked up mud machine.

Only ONE Thing I Would Change
The quality of the kit is what you would expect from a reputable company such as K&N. So I went to a hardware store and got brass fittings and now I feel much more comfortable with rubber hoses being suspended directly over my serpentine belt.

Awesome but be ready
Fist mod I'd been wanting to do to my 2014 Silverado 5.3L. Would definitely recommend.

Nice job, K&N
This is the third intake I've tried on my 2015 Silverado 5.3L. I must assume that the plastic pieces just produced more resonance and volume...

Simple install and seemingly a small boost in MPG.
Very simple install if you have spent any time under the hood of your truck. You can really hear the engine bark back in between full throttle shifts with the open air box.

Engine drone
I have a 6.2L Chevy Silverado 1500. Slight improvement on engine growl. Not super noticeable over my Borla Atak exhaust. However I hear slight drone in my exhaust now at highway speeds. I hope this goes away with time. Gas mileage seems to have gone up 2 to 3 mpg!

Be careful with plastic threads!
Initially very happy with this upgrade. It enhances the sound of my Magna Flow exhaust great. I've never been mistaken for a gear head but I didn't have much trouble installing it.
