  • Great for the price
Took about 2 hours or so to fully install. Makes the truck sound much throatier on decent acceleration and a nice little grumble at idle. Like the other reviews say, the sensor/grommet installation was the biggest pain. That part took most of the 2 hours. I finally got it in, although the rubber grommet did rip a little but still functions. Followed the advice of another review by putting the sensor in the grommet then using a small flathead to help get it in the hole in the tube. Only other complaint was the intake tube did seem about an inch or so too short if you follow the directions step by step. With the air box/filter assembled and clamped down first, the tube wouldn't reach from the throttle body to the filter properly. I ended up loosening up the air box, assembled everything then clamped it all down and it seemed to flex/stretch just enough. No issues with filter falling off or anything coming apart so far. Will update review if I encounter any problems after driving for a bit. ... show more

  • Great product and performance! Definitely worth the expense.
I recently installed the Spectre Cold Air Intake in my vehicle, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with it. The installation process was a breeze, and I had no trouble setting it up. However, there was one small issue that required an additional purchase. I had to buy a #104 adjustable clamp from Lowes ($4.42; Item #1436432; Model #67004-0104-019) to secure the air filter in place. The other provided hose clamps are holding up fine. The problem I encountered with the clamp provided tended to loosen by itself while driving. This caused the intake filter to pop off occasionally, which was a bit frustrating. It would have been better if the included clamp was more reliable, so I didn't have to invest in another one. Despite this minor hiccup, I must say that the Spectre Cold Air Intake performs admirably. It has improved my vehicle's performance, and I can feel and hear the difference in horsepower and throttle response. Plus, the price point is very reasonable, especially when compared to other options like the K&N Cold Air Intake. All in, the Spectre Cold Air Intake is a great product, offering significant performance benefits at an affordable price. However, be prepared to invest in a better clamp to ensure that the filter stays securely in place. If you're looking for an effective and budget-friendly cold air intake, the Spectre is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Great price and great sound!
It took me about 2 1/2 hours to install. Instructions weren’t as bad as I expected them to be so that was a plus as I started installing it. The challenging part was getting the sensor into the grommet all the way without the grommet falling out. I found if you put your fingers on the back and front of the grommet and slowly push and turn the sensor in that worked the best. You can imagine the anticipation of wanting to hear how it sounds and it didn’t disappoint! When you hit about 4000 rpm you hear the growl and it sounds awesome! I’d recommend this air intake to anyone looking to make their V6 sound roar a little louder when you stomp on it! I was super impressed and love how it sounds! ... show more

  • Bad Installation experience, but works great
Product was warped either from shipping or bad quality control. Had to use chanel locks to straighten the heat shield. The holes also didn't line up so I had to drill bigger holes to get the bolts through. The grommet for the IAT Sensor also kept calling falling through. The cone filter kept popping off during long drives had to double clamp it. But other than that it looks and sounds great. Can really tell a difference it's alot more responsive now during revs and driving. Really impressed with it. ... show more

  • 2017 Ram 1500 3.6 pentastar v6
I drive a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 3.6 pentastar. 34 inch BFGoodrich All Terrain. Beefed up springs and shocks, so the ride is 2-3 inches higher than stock. I bought this as a replacement for my stock intake that got broken accidentally. I bought it for the price, not for any sound or performance gain. It was simple to install minus the MAF sensor. That took the most time, getting the grommet in place with the sensor took quite some doing. I am hoping I was just being an idiot, but it was tricky. As for the sound, it is noticeably louder at mid to high rpms. Especially above 2.5k when the throttle begins to open up more. If you're looking for a sound improvement to make it louder or "throater" then this will do the trick. But remember its still a v6 so it won't sound like a v8, but does get closer. There is no whistle nor does it sound like a race car, rather a bit similar to an older v8(in a positive way). For performance, I havent noticed a difference at all. Maybe a marginal improvement? So don't expect anything crazy. Honestly turning tow/haul mode on makes more of a performance gain. It does feel like air is more readily available. When you push on the throttle you do feel the torque maybe slightly sooner. But again, not by ton. MPG wise, I dont notice any difference. I tend to drive with a lot of weight in the bed so I usually get 16mpg and after driving for a few weeks with it installed I still am around 16. Final take away, I would say to buy it. For the price it is worth getting even if just for the minor throttle response improvement, or if you broke/don't like the stock intake. The install isn't all that terrible, and if you're looking for a sound improvement then it definitely would work. Though, if you drive only around town and don't open the throttle very often then you probably wouldn't even notice a difference in the sound. ... show more
