My mom had a stroke and was having a hard time remembering what time it was and what day of the week it was so I got her this clock. We had a similar one for my father-in-law before he died in 2022, and I guess I should have kept his. (We ended up donating it to the assisted living facility he was living in. I got it for him because he got very mixed up on his time if it was 6 p.m. and dark, he wasn't sure if it was daytime or evening in the winter.) The clock has been very useful for my mom. I haven't noticed the dimming feature nor have I tried setting the alarms. But the clock function is very nice, especially having the day of the week and time of the day on there. We use the "default" look (white text on black background) and it's very easy to read. Setting the clock was fairly simple. I may end up getting her a second one for her bedroom, but this one (used in her TV room) keeps her on track for the most part. ... show more

Easy to set up and change, a back-up battery so that it keeps its place during a power outage. This really does help dementia patients understand more easily when you can just point to the clock and use it to help explain the daily routines. Also, it has alarms for remembering medications. I bought this clock for my 92 yr old mom. I decided to check it out before I gave it to her. I really like this clock! It is easy to read, has the day, date, time, whether it is Night or Day. I love the feature of automatically adjusting for DST. Love the 3 alarms but my favorite is the birds chirping 😃I will definitely keep this one and purchasing another one for my mom and now my sister wants one! No dementia in our house, but we definitely appreciate a big-face clock which includes dates as well as time. Setting it up (and changing choices) is not simple, so be sure that you have the latest version of their manual. Every choice involves multiple button pushes in the proper order. When I could not figure out how to cancel alarms (which were present when we purchased the clock), I felt very frustrated. However, the item has the customer-support email address on the back. I sent a query and customer support (in China) answered within 48 hours, including the news that they were attaching the latest version of the manual (20250122). Our clock had a 2024 manual which did not address the problem we needed to solve. With newer documentation and step-by-step instructions in the email answer, we solved the problem. For such a low priced item, I am surprised at the rapid and appropriate customer support. I would buy it again -- no dementia diagnosis needed. ... show more
