  • BEST Bang For Your Buck! AMAZING Apple CarPlay Stereo
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
Sony XAVAX1000 Review & Install on 2007 Hyundai Elantra: I was a little skeptical of this unit and have always been skeptical of aftermarket units as I think they're ugly, of terrible quality and a pain in the a** to use. This Sony unit checks ALL the boxes + more. The interface is beautiful, simple and EASY to navigate unlike most aftermarket units. Apple CarPlay works SEAMLESSLY and flawlessly. Connecting a backup camera was EASY and my unit looks so good mounted into the license plate light (all links for what I needed are listed below). I was worried I wouldn't like the USB port next to the screen but it really doesn't bother me other than the look isn't great but it was better than routing a USB port somewhere else and way simpler + this unit has AUX if you need it. My only complaint is that the touch screen is capacitive and it's kind of old school. Granted you're not touching it much and it works just fine, it's just not as nice as say a high quality glass or plastic display with resistive touch. That being said, I purchased an open box unit from Amazon in perfect condition-sealed for $250 so I have ZERO complaints. I had a hard time figuring out how everything would come together for a 2007-2010 Elantra but below are all the items I needed that made for a perfect install. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this unit and setup and could not be happier. It looks great, it has a REAL volume knob, Apple CarPlay is kick a** and I have a backup camera mounted to look OEM! I HIGHLY recommend this unit! • Simple and easy. Nice upgrade for aging cars with double din
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
Does exactly what I needed: FM + Digital FM broadcast, Sirius XM compatible, iPhone CarPlay integration for handsfree. My Kenwood unit died and I needed a replacement receiver pronto so my commute wasn't silent. Screen is double din height but unit body is single so there was extra space for tucking wires and ventilation without feeling cramped in my dashboard like with my previous Kenwood. Sound defaults are bit bass heavy out of box but with minimal adjustment got it sounding nice and balanced with my factory speakers. Only has the one USB port on the front bezel. Wish it had another USB on back to plug in aftermarket USB jacks I've added to my Toyota Yaris. Apple Car Play only works while tethered over USB for my iPhone 6s. The Apple Car Play integration is really why I bought this unit and it does everything I thought it would. They included a remote control in the box but I never use it. ... show more

  • If Only
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
If only this thing was more than what it is. Like if it allowed you to hook a computer up to it. Or put youtube on it. At the same time, I see why they didn't and I still respect. This thing adds carplay which is just huge. Not the brightest thing, not the fastest or most responsive. But it has carplay and Sony has little to no competition at this price. So I'm forced to recommend as they are one in a few. A little quirk it has is that every time you work on the battery and disconnect it, I'm pretty sure it resets this thing. By default it is set to advertise when not in use/carplay, so I got use to seeing that screen when I was too lazy to turn the feature off (As I usually am working on the car and need to reset the thing time after time). But again, for the price, the unit is incomparable to anything else I've seen. It even delivers a boost to your cars sound performance, just make sure you have everything required to install it. ... show more

  • Very clean, simple radio ... screen is very reflective
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
I just installed this in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a Metra wiring kit and a Metra aftermarket bezel kit and it looks almost factory-stock. This is the only Apple CarPlay radio I could find with a volume knob and a flat black appearance to match the Jeep materials. First of all, the amp in this head unit is way more powerful than I need and more than my speakers can handle. I won’t be turning it up all the way unless I am about to buy new speakers. Apple CarPlay is great and it connects seamlessly and quickly. This was the main reason I wanted a new radio and now I’m really happy. The screen isn’t as big or fancy as a new car (resistive touch, not capacitive, so it’s not quite as accurate as the phone’s screen), but I’m driving a Jeep that is 21 years old and I don’t want or need to have an “infotainment” system in the dash. So far it an affordable and good looking way to upgrade an older car with some modern tech. I’ll update this review if I feel differently after using it for awhile. UPDATE 1: If you have a light-colored interior in your car, the display of this radio will likely be unreadable when you are driving into the sun with the interior bathed in sunlight and the screen in shadow. The screen acts like a mirror and the display is almost completely obscured by the reflections. Sony would be wise to add some kind of anti-reflective coating to the surface of the display (like you might find on high-quality sunglasses or camera lenses) to reduce this effect. For me, this isn't a constant issue, but I wanted to mention it for those who may be driving for an hour into the sun before or after work. ... show more

  • Good Unit & Pretty Easy Install
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
The installation of this unit was pretty straightforward. You WILL want to get an installation kit for your specific vehicle and if you want to make the install easier, I would also get a vehicle specific wiring harness adapter and a parking brake bypass. Those 3 things along with this radio unit make it a fairly easy install. Biggest issue I ran into on my 2000 F-250 was not shaving enough of the top and bottom factory bracket off. That had nothing to do with this product. Overall, I’d give this product an excellent rating as far as sound quality and user interface. I like that there is an actual dial to turn for volume, rather than some buttons or touch screen ‘buttons’. This is a good upgrade to my 20+ year old truck. It’s only been a week (as of 4/7/21), so I will update if anything negative arises. ... show more

  • Great stereo
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
I installed this in my 2011 corolla and it performs well. The sound is much more powerful and the features work well. I like that the EQ is set up to where I can increase or decrease overall bass coming from the subwoofer. The touchscreen works well when compared to other radios, but not quite as fluid as an iPad for example. The most important feature for me was having an actual volume control knob. It makes Turing the volume up and down that much easier! ... show more

  • Nice step up for the RV
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
My 2019 Newmar Bay Star came with a Sony WX-900BT stereo, but due to its location it was sort of a pain to operate while driving. So I decided to upgrade to a Sony touchscreen figuring (almost correctly) it'd be a direct swap. While it was just a matter of plugging in to the existing wiring harness/antenna, it did take me a hot minute to realize I'd need to unscrew the mounts from the old head unit to use with the new one. But once done, easy peasy lemon squeezy! It's in, it works and it looks great from the driver's chair! ... show more

  • Ok but annoying user interface
Color: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2" with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
Rather poor sound, incredibly annoying user interface, but reasonable for the price. The most annoying: there are THREE separate volume settings and they CANNOT be changed in the Sound Settings menu. You have to make the sound happen (such as text sound) and THEN, very quickly, adjust the sound. To top it off, it seems to come with the text volume preset at 100% - the first time a text came in I almost wrecked it was so crazy loud. I pulled over the first chance I could, looked through the settings, googled for a solution, and still spent maybe half an hour before I finally sorted out how to turn it down. Then weeks later, the phone call volume went so low I couldn’t hear the other party. Again, had to pull over and Google for the answer. This time, no solution was found online so I spent another half an hour dorking with things to finally sort it out. ... show more
