  • Great Unit, Pretty Easy to Install! Amazing value for the money. Great Unit, Pretty Easy to Install! Amazing value for the money.
I installed this in a 2004 Dodge Ram truck. Took out an old pioneer CD player. Bought the accompanying dash kit and wiring harness and this thing hooked right up. Love the volume knob on the side and the interface is super easy to use. I emailed the company and they sent me the updated firmware and the Dodge Ram logo that I uploaded in a couple minutes and that was really easy. One important thing, if you want the initial start up screen and the wallpaper to show your cars logo, you need to tell them that. The first time I just said send me the wallpaper, after I installed it it still said the name of the stereo at the beginning and then eventually it showed the car logo. I emailed them to ask about why it wasn’t at the very beginning and they said you have to ask for that, so they sent me a new file that did both the initial start up and the wallpaper. There communication was awesome! Overall very happy with this product... I can't believe this thing was under $150! Total game changer for my truck. Took maybe 1.5 hours to install but I could do it again in probably 30 minutes. Dash kit took a little bit of figuring out. Having Apple Car Play is huge! Now I have WAZE maps on my dash instead of on my phone, spotify works awesome, and this thing is bluetooth so now I can answer my phone from the unit and talk through unit's microphone and hear people in my truck's speakers. This thing moved my truck way up to 2020! Couple other items of note... The side brackets take some trial and error when screwing them onto the unit and making the unit sit flush with my dash kit. You just have to keep adjusting it and I had to snip off some parts of plastic on the side brackets and make a couple other small adjustments inside the dash that you'd never see. My screen looked like it had a protective film over it with some bubbles but I couldn't tell if that was the actual screen or it had a cover. I emailed them and they said the protective film could be removed... so happy those bubbles weren't on the screen! Sound quality is much better than the old Pioneer CD player! I did not hook up the backup camera yet because I need to figure out what hole to poke it through to the underside of the car. ... show more

  • Decent for the price, may need additional interface. (Update)
I got this unit mostly to make my 2012 Jeep Patriot have more modern radio functionality (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto). The unit functions pretty decently for a radio at this price point. The touchscreen isn't as snappy as most modern touchscreens, but it functions well enough. The sound quality sounds just as good as my stock radio, but it does have a better EQ system than the factory radio. Also, you will loose the ability to fade (front/back) if your car has a factory amplifier. This is true for all aftermarket radios, however. You also can only use CarPlay/Android Auto via the front USB, not with Bluetooth. The CarPlay UI functions well. The system's own UI, however, is just okay. It can be a bit weird to navigate through, but you can get used to it. I've yet to install the rear camera, so I cannot fairly review that part of the system. I do wish they would provide an easier way to update the unit's firmware, wallpapers, and boot logo. You have to get in contact with them directly via email or Facebook for them to update these. They do not have a website or anything of that nature that could readily provide this resource and information. I do think this should be something the customer should be able to do by default. However, their customer service is helpful. English may not be their first language, but everything was well understood. This is a decent unit if you want something simple to update an old radio. You may have to tap into some technical skills if you have installation issues, but that's nothing on the radio itself. I have install my own car radios in my teens and early twenties, but that has been over a decade by now. You will need a harness for this install unless you plan to cut OEM wires (not recommended). Note: I did have to buy a harness with an additional interface that was compatible with my car as my Jeep had the Boston Acoustics premium sound system with a factory amp. The interface is needed to provide the 12 volt power without cutting into my OEM cables (usually the cigarette lighter) and to retain steering wheel functionality. I did have issues with the first interface I bought from Metra, who abandoned me partway through troubleshooting. The issue was that my audio was cutting in and out intermittently every 5 or 6 seconds. I think their interface was faulty, but they never responded after I provided them the requested information. Ended up installing an interface from Scosche and it worked fine. Wouldn't recommend Metra based on the customer service if you go this route. The SJoyBring team, however, was willing to refund me for the radio even though the issue wasn't their fault. I kept the unit until I was able to properly resolve the issue. They did keep in contact with me via email on the entire process. So kudos to them for that. Update 01/12/2024: I have experienced the unit freezing on me a few times since owning it, some instances where I can't reset the radio without turning off my car (cutting its power source). This has happened at least 3-4 times since purchase. Depending on your tolerance for this kind of inconvenience, I would say do look for something a little better. I'm still running it, but I am looking for a replacement. I'll probably look into purchasing from an established brand on their budget end. ... show more

In a nutshell, this radio is NOT plug and play. However, for the value, it gives you awesome features for the price you pay if you’re willing to put in the work. 1. Use crimp connectors, get an auto stripper, and a heat gun. Perfect connections. Now, the main wiring harness went together pretty smooth. Just match up colors/wire labels. The confusion came with figuring out the steering wheel controls adapter I bought. Make damn sure you look closely at both the radio harness, the adapter harness, and your vehicles oem harness. Count your pins, and don’t be afraid to call tech support. 2. Order a microphone separately! They’re like $5 and yes, this radio technically has one. But microphones like that pick up a lot of road noise. Just do it, it’s cheap and you won’t regret it. 3. The hot and ground wires for the front cam (if you use it as a front cam) are nowhere close to long enough. I ended up adding about 5ish feet of wire to get it to my front grille. Buy extra wire if you’re gonna use the included camera for the front of the truck. 4. The absolute worst was programming the adapter for the steering wheel controls. After hours of troubleshooting, an update and reset of the radio allowed me to get volume, seek buttons, mode, and the “pickup” phone button working. The Hangup button doesn’t work for some reason, and there is no option to program a ptt button? I mean “hey siri” works great but still. Come on! 5. This isn’t the fault of Sjoybring, but more of a suggestion. They should start making dash kits…because the scosche one kinda sucks. But follow the directions to a T…..use the metal brackets from the kit but use the screws off the factory radio! Make damn sure you hookup every wire correctly. I had one single wire not hooked up and it made my steering wheel controls not work at all. Conclusion: Absolutely worth it and love the radio. I would have spent $1k on a name brand and not to mention the premium of going through crutchfield for a wiring harness and stuff. I would not recommend this to someone that doesn’t know basic wiring and is comfortable routing wires in a car interior. Not to mention taking half your dash apart, cutting into the factory harness, programming an adapter module…. ... show more

  • Way beyond my expectations Way beyond my expectations
The SJOYBRING JOY-D006 I purchased for my 2006 Tacoma is the best car radio I have ever owned. It is simple, easy to operate, the touch screen is very responsive, plays plenty loud enough, and easy to see in the sun. Yes, installing it caused me a little stress, but nothing like the stress Best Buy gave me when they installed my last radio which was a Sony. This one is way better and cost much less. The techs at SJOYBRING helped me by email with a few issues I had. They were prompt and their directions easy to understand and had pictures. The radio came with a connector with wires. I purchased a connector that connected to my Tacoma connector that also had wires. Then I simply crimped the wires together creating a “pigtail.” The colors were exactly the same, so I could tell which wire went where. This pigtail interfaced the new radio with the Tacoma. With the directions provided with the radio, it was easy to do. To fasten the radio to the dash and make it look good, I ordered a double din dash kit that would fit my Tacoma from Amazon. I had to play around with it a little to see how the parts went together, being careful not to force anything, because of course it’s plastic. But it looks like the Toyota factory put my radio in. A couple of tips for iphone users: With the JOY-D006 you can make phone calls and play music through Bluetooth, but to use the map feature from your iphone to the radio display, you must use the cable used to charge your iphone and connect it to the USB on the radio. In order for your contacts to go into the radio memory, you have to go to the Bluetooth menu on your iphone and select “Sync Contacts” next to “KAR-KIT,” (what your iphone calls the radio). These were the issues I had. ... show more

  • Easy way to bring your car into the 2020s! Easy way to bring your car into the 2020s!
What an upgrade. Granted, I upgraded a stereo from 2007, so it is a giant leap in features. I purchased this to upgrade a 2007 Ford Mustang GT Shaker 500 6-disc stereo w/ satellite radio. I was lucky in that the factory stereo worked fine, no wear, but it was finicky with the CDs.. but who uses CDs any more? The satellite radio antenna had failed years ago, and I never used it anyway. I always jacked my phone into the aux port and I use apple maps / waze to go I had to purchase the wiring harness adapter for my car, an antenna adapter (surprise, Ford uses a unique connector), a microphone, a 6ft USB extension cable, and a full kit of heat-shrink tubing. I took a few minutes to wire the individual wires from the harness adapter to the wiring harness from the radio and used the heat shrink tubing to seal the connections. With that prep work done, I removed the old radio. The brackets that came with the new radio when installed on the radio were far too small for the opening, but a good bend of the brackets and some adjustments made it work solidly. I was being cheap and not buying a separate bracket specific to my car. But, it worked. Installed, there is a very slight gap around the factory opening in the bezel. As you can see from the photo, it looks fine to me. I wired in the included backup camera and the microphone. Everything powered up fine. The installation was generally straight forward. The only hiccup is the bracket alignment which took a couple of tries to get it aligned with the front facia. If I were to change anything, I would ask for a USB port on the BACK of the unit so the USB extension cable could be hidden away vs the way I have it routed today. I live off the USB because I connect my phone to use carplay. Note: this radio does NOT have wireless carplay. The bootup is rather quick and obviously not as instantaneous as the factory radio. The screen responsiveness is smooth, and the settings are easy and intuitive. The default sound quality is extremely tinny. You MUST use the equalizer to fine tune the sound to your ear. Carplay takes a couple of seconds to recognize the phone, but it works seamlessly. I do wish I could play the car radio and display maps from the phone at the same time, but that is not possible. The stereo offers the ability to change the background from one of 4 installed backgrounds. You cannot add or change existing wallpaper on your own. However, their support team will do that for you and provide you with new firmware. I prefer having that control myself, but that isn't possible. The team was extremely responsive and provided me with new firmware to include the boot logo you see in the video and my custom wallpaper background. I've had it installed for less than a week. I'm very happy with it so far! ... show more

  • A Decent Stereo for the Price A Decent Stereo for the Price
I’ve had this stereo for about a month and I’ve been happy with it. I installed it in my 2002 Toyota Camry. The installation process was average for a car stereo. I did purchase a wiring kit specific for my car so I just had to match up color to color for the wiring. I also purchased a license plate camera mount so I didn’t have to drill any holes for the backup camera. The instructions for wiring the backup camera weren’t very clear but after a couple of tries (and some YouTube videos) I got it figured out. Overall for the price this is a decent stereo. The sound quality is the same as the factory stereo I removed. Bluetooth automatically connects with my phone 95% of the time which I think is good for an aftermarket stereo. Having an actual knob for the volume is a MUST and the forward and back buttons are nice too. The touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. The quality of video for the backup camera is good too. The company offers an option to have your car brand logo (or any photo you want) for the start up screen and up to 4 custom background/wallpaper photos. This does require contacting them on Facebook, emailing your photos and then waiting for a file to be emailed back with a firmware update, which I got back within 24 hours. While it’s obvious in interactions that English is not their native language they do okay. All in all this is a good stereo for the price. Don’t expect a high end system but what you get for your money is very good. I’m very happy that my 20 year old car now feels at least 10 years newer! ... show more

  • Just what I needed
I have an old 2003 4runner that I use to transport the dogs around town. The OEM radio finally died and I was looking for something cheap but had carplay. This ticked all the boxes. I know nothing about car electronics or install but was able to watch a lot of youtube videos to figure it out. It does not fit perfectly into the dash of my car. The Metra installation kit I ordered was flimsy and I could never get it to sit right in the dash or the brackets. I know the plastic edge comes off the new radio, but the Metra kit made it look really bad and not fit nicely in the dash. I finally just removed the Metra kit and just screwed the radio in as is, it's not perfect by any means but was able to make it work. Carplay works great and the screen is responsive. The reverse camera gives a good picture. For a car that has never had a backup camera, there are no complaints. The company was very responsive with asked questions and the custom load screens. This unit is quality enough to put into a $3000 car for $175. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars: 1. The screen did not come with a removeable plastic film so there are microbubbles visible. It wasn't bad enough to return but you can see them there. 2. The backup camera wire was too short for my car. I would of had to add extension wire to be able to run the wires through my back hatch door so that they were hidden. I still installed the camera, but left the wires visible. 3. I think this is definitely a user install issue and not the radio. After installed, the unit will pop loudly and turn off and turn back on when starting the car. I haven't been able to track the reason down. I have tried different ways to turn the car on. Sometimes it doesn't do this but a majority of the time it restarts after starting the car. After it has reset, the radio runs fine and there are no issues. I used the crimp heat shrink terminal connectors for the wiring the harness. Not sure if there is a wiring issue. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap alternative this has worked out well for me. ... show more
