First time mead brewer here and loved this product. I've since bought another and find them very easy to use. Simply pour in the ingredients, put on the top piece, and let sit. The fermenter is very easy to clean as the small pieces come apart easily for hand washing (I've even put the glass part in the dishwasher) and can easily be used again. I bought this small kit for my mead. I can't say there's anything wrong with the jug itself, and would otherwise deserve 5 stars. However... the only issue I have is that the plug for the carboy is insanely difficult to insert into the top of the bottle (all of my bottles, actually). It took me a few minutes to force it into the bottle. Honestly I was afraid I was going to break the jug I had to push so hard. They say it's snug, but that was an understatement. So aside from the ridiculously stubborn carboy, it's not a bad buy for a 1 gallon fermenting jug. ... show more

I found wild grapes in our backyard and wanted to turn them into wine. I bought this kit and it’s turned out to be a solid starting place to at home wine making. If I could make suggestions, I wish this kit included pH strips to test acidity and the instructions could be a little clearer, but I was able to figure the steps out with a little time on google and YouTube. Unfortunately the easy syphon in my kid came cracked so isn’t usable, but I think that’s unique to the set I got. ... show more

Good value ... can always use proper size bungs and additional airlocks. One hole stoppers provided appear to be #6.5. #6 will work although take care not to force the #6 stopper to hard as it may be difficult to remove with little exposed to pull on to remove. Don't ask me how I know. :-)

Not five star just because no lid included. Like yes the bubbler is there and yes the rubber cork is too. Even the bottle. But no lid really. I know they dont show it in the add. But really? Kinda dumb. Id like to use it to store wine after brewing and yeah. Its just extra hassle to think about a lid when ive purchased the bottle that probbly shouldve been included. Thats kinda a given expectation when buying a container. ... show more
