  • A solid sound comes out of this
Style: 616UAB
I bought a beater 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan to drive around our summer hang. The OEM radio in it was for CDs and Cassette tapes, along with the AM/FM. Sound was weak and puny. Well we don't have any CD,s and didn't want to buy any, but I have lots of music on MP3,s. So I bought this Boss radio with USB along with a face plate/wire kit. The install was easy, but I did watch a Youtube video first, but it is a straightforward process. The wires are all color coded for easy connection to the facia kit wires. Don't worry about the extra black ground, or other wires that do nothing. I used the directions too, to double check things. And when I turned it on, it was a WOW moment. Then I adjusted the bass and treble, more WOW, it was most excellent! The loudness really has some punch to it over the old radio. It just sounds great. And great value too. And I then plugged in my 32GB thumb drive, and I'm good to go! ... show more

  • Great Affordable Unit
Style: 616UAB
Owned and installed for about 3 months now. It is a great product for the price! Easy to install in my 90 F150, the harness is good, turns on quickly and connects the bluetooth almost instantly. The lighting is not crazy bright or distracting, but is easy to read under the bright Texas sun. My only complaints are the volume is not very loud 50 watts is just not much power for a loud rickity truck. The volume knob skips when turned quickly, and the buttons feel cheap. However, I control the volume and songs from my phone anyway. For $30 you get what you pay for, this unit is exactly what I wanted. This was $30 well spent. ... show more

  • Work well for the price
Style: 616UAB
Here's a possible review: *BOSS Audio Systems 616UAB Car Stereo Review* I've been using the BOSS Audio Systems 616UAB car stereo for a while now, and I'm really impressed with its performance. This single DIN unit packs a punch with its Bluetooth connectivity, USB, Aux-in, and AM/FM radio capabilities. The sound quality is clear and crisp, and the Bluetooth connection is seamless. I can easily stream music from my phone and make hands-free calls. The USB port allows me to plug in my flash drive and access my music library. The interface is user-friendly, and the installation process was straightforward. I appreciate that it doesn't have a CD/DVD player, which makes it more compact and modern. Overall, I'd highly recommend the BOSS Audio Systems 616UAB car stereo for anyone looking for a reliable, feature-packed, and affordable upgrade for their vehicle. *Pros:* - Clear and crisp sound quality - Seamless Bluetooth connectivity - User-friendly interface - Compact design *Cons:* - No CD/DVD player (though this may be a pro for some!) Would I recommend it? Absolutely! ... show more

  • Holds Bluetooth connection hostage, chops Bluetooth audio, "Dancing LEDs" an insult.
Style: 616UAB
Once paired, there is no way to disconnect from Bluetooth other than to un-pair from your phone. Okay, so I put a mini-toggle on-off switch next to the radio to turn off the ACC wire simulating turning off the ignition key. That is so I can quickly connect with my headset if I get an incoming call or need to make a call. Lucky I have a van with lots of dash space for a switch. Back to the problem, once paired, the Bluetooth connects any time the unit is powered up. Thus phone calls and other Bluetooth audio that I want to go through my phone speaker or headset is automatically diverted to the radio without my ability to control it. On a normal Bluetooth device like earbuds you simply turn it off. There should be a Bluetooth on/off button but there is not. I called BOSS customer service and they confirmed the lack of functionality. Second, the Bluetooth chops the first words when listening to say a language course. When there is no audio for example between spoken sentences the beginning word of the next sentence is chopped off. My headsets and other audio devices like my JBL Flip 5 do not have this problem. This triggered my return of the product. The Bluetooth works okay for general audio as most radio programming is constant noise and for song such as from YouTube you don't notice the initial chop. There is what looks like a graphic audio spectrum display that BOSS calls "Dancing LEDs". Guess why. Its because they all dance up and down in unison. There is no frequency band information, just a cosmetic garbage display. Its an insult to intelligence, and a driving distraction. There is no way to disable the dumb display of "Dancing LEDs". There is no good way to adjust the display illumination except through the menu. The dash illumination level wire in the vehicle wiring harness is ignored. Too bright at night and can't see it during the day. Audio quality is probably "okay" although note that BOSS specs omit the distortion (THD) specification altogether. I guess FM these days sounds like crap. Bluetooth from my phone sounded "okay" though raspy as did the Auxiliary input. Power output seems good. I presume this is all due to CCP garbage engineering of the chip-set and I bet all low-end radios like this one suffer all the same flaws using the same chip set. Its pretty lame. I'm returning mine and going to look for something better. Because it hijacks the Bluetooth connection, I would not recommend this radio unless you don't mind the work-around ACC switch and all the other flaws. And don't let the amazing number of reviews fool you, most people probably have not run into the flaws mentioned. The price is good. I bought mine for $29 and now Amazon has it for $23 if I purchase in the next three hours. Its not worth it unless you are okay with the flaws. Mine is getting returned. ... show more
