  • Good upgrade for my radio.
I like that the dvd player allows me to catch a movie while waiting in my truck. Sound is good from all music stations. The volume buttons are not great. Wish it would have come with remote

  • Quite happy AVH-1400NEX
I was tired of waiting for a lower priced wireless CarPlay receiver. The $236 for the DVD version convinced me to pull the trigger. Without the USB cable to iPhone: The Pandora app works decently over Bluetooth but sometimes requires launching from the iPhone if you were listening to some other audio app (Podcast, iHeart etc.). But a lot of the time it fires right up. I actually find the Bluetooth connection to Pandora connects better than selecting Pandora from the receiver. Siri works quite well when pressing the microphone button. You can ask about the weather, your next calendar appointment, launch navigation (however maps only launches on the phone screen if not USB tethered. I consider that great because the receiver screen can be for music and the phone for navigation). With the USB cable to iPhone: You get Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze maps - all quite fast and responsive. The Apple texting app works awesome while tethered. Siri will read and then voice respond to text messages. The touch screen works quite well. Dims and brightens nicely if you wire the input. The USB connection is on the back so I can hide the wiring without the USB cable hanging off the front of the receiver. It comes with decent USB extension cable that I run in my console. I can swap a lightening cable for a micro USB cable whenever I wish. The USB port only charges when the deck is powered up. Easy to switch between the many preset graphic EQs and the two user custom EQs from Pandora. Pandora has six user selectable presets so you can quickly go between your favorite stations. The only thing I am not thrilled with is a legal prompt that happens every time the deck starts up. It does self clear if you ignore it. But, say you had the music loud when you shut the deck off. The volume controls are locked out (possibly blaring music) until that legal prompt clears. It has a cooling fan on the back of the receiver and it looks to be one that I could easily replace if ever needed. Can't talk about screen glare yet because the weather has been lousy lately. As I think of other things I like I will add later. But I really do enjoy this deck. If my commute was longer than eight minutes I would value it a lot more. ... show more

  • Lots of features for the money.
Was looking into purchasing a vehicle with in-dash navigation, and a back-up camera. Today you can get this type of vehicle without selling and making monthly payments for new ride. I got the DVD version of Pioneer AVX 1400NEX because it is cheaper and I do still listen to cds sometimes while on the road. I installed it into my ‘06 Element EX and I ended up buying soldering iron, dash tools, tapes, backup camera, and all necessary harnesses, axxess steering control retainer. Trim finish bezel as well from Soche NOT Maetra. (Took back the Maetra didn’t care for .5” inset) Took me about a month from start to finish but I did it all by my lonesome and it works great! So far so good. The stock stereo served reliably for over 12 years. Will see how long this piece of technology will last but so far I’m enjoying it. If you are a DIY it’s possible to install it yourself and save a bit of cash and customize the install. I wired it so that the backup camera comes on not only when in reverse but has a selection to turn it on in this unit even when moving forward or stopped. I installed a small panel for the stereos USB and 3.5 port. Everything works to my satisfaction and I would highly recommend this unit to my friends, family, coworkers, etc. if I have a newer vehicle I probably would opt for the non DVD version. You do not need a car already equipped with Apple CarPlay to begin with. My car never did and ACP is sooo nice. Now I sit in traffic and I don’t mind because I can enjoy this stereo’s quality sound output customizable with optional bass boost or EQ settings. Few ways to tweak the sound. Nice to have Siri to help with hands free assistance when driving. For the money definitely what I need for an older model car most definitely a lot of bang for the buck. ... show more

  • I Upgraded My Tucson 🚙✨🔊📱
I just installed the DVD version on my 2010 Hyundai Tucson GLS. It works wonderfully! LIKES 👍: The screen is more visible in sunlight than my iPhone 8Plus. This was a big issue for me because I use my GPS a lot. My factory speakers sound better! (I’m not going to install an amp & a sub like I planned.) The touchscreen is very responsive. There is a lot of options to customize (EQ, illumination color, background image, etc). I use CarPlay and it works like a charm. It upgraded my vehicle for just $235. Overall, this unit matches its description perfectly. DISLIKES 👎: As mentioned in other reviews, the warning screen shows up each time the unit starts. So if you were blasting music (like I usually do), it would still be at that level. You can’t change the volume until you press OK in the warning message. This has happened when I play a CD (don’t judge lol) or use Pandora. It’s not really a problem for me, but it would be nice if that screen did not have to pop up each time I start my car. I don’t have any other dislikes yet. I’ll update after I play my first DVD ... show more
