  • Works great but not for 4K UHD Disc.
The all region feature works great and it plays Blu Rays fine and upscales Blu Rays to almost 4K quality. The only reason I note this is because some people think it is also a 4K player but it is not but your regular Blu Rays will look cool on this and the region feature is the only reason I got this so my needs are met. ... show more

  • Another great Sony product
When it came time to replace our old blu ray this was a no brainer for me. Our old one still works but we’re having a few issues with it. Technology changes and so after 8 years I know it’s just a matter of time before it just gives out, it’s still in use in a bedroom. Now with the new one. It has been great. I definitely like the upscaling because it does make a difference. Just plug and play and was connected to our Wi-Fi in less than a minute. I’m just hoping that longevity isn’t lost with newer technology. I’m the type that doesn’t make quick decisions on this type of purchase and am very pleased with that I did. ... show more

  • 4K Region plays questionable
Well it plays Region A yet the only BD region B I have will not play. So it’s questionable whether It will play Blue Ray Region B Disks or BD disc Rom? All in n All it seems to 4K up scale tremendously good and I can play Asia region and French imports good. So it’s A keeper.

  • outstanding!
This blu-ray works! I tried British noir for Region B, worked great. I tried a new British movie region B, worked great. It even told me after I inserted the disk that I had chosen the wrong region. I knew my disks were not region-free and not United States region A, but I couldn't remember what region my noir disk was. Picture and sound were great too. I tested blu-ray movie 1776 region A and the sound and picture were excellent. I had to send an LG player back to Amazon that was supposed to be modified and wasn't and was missing all the extras too, instructions, cable, adaptor, so pretty happy to have what I wanted at last. ... show more

  • decent player but ...
if you use it for streaming be prepared to unplug it once a day. it plays all regions of dvd just fine, but if you use it for streaming, be prepared for it to lock up. if you have easy access to unplug it, as i do, you may decide to keep it. this is my second sony player to do the exact same thing, freeze while using the netflix, vudu and prime video apps. i think this is a software thing, so since i'm happy with the physical dvd performance, i've just accepted that once a day i have to curse and get up off my ass. 11/14 after 5 months of resetting this thing every day i now realize it is more than getting up off my ass. after unplugging, waiting, then replugging, i have to log back into all my streaming services, since that all gets lost. i love that it plays all regions, but i wish i had gotten a different player. maybe this is an uncommon problem, i see a few reviews relevant, maybe you'll get luckier than i did. 3/12/23 beware that this "region free" player does not play region 2 PAL dvd's such as this: https://www.amazon.com/American-Dad-Volume-1-12-DVD/dp/B075B3BLXT now VERY disappointed with this player ... show more

  • Compact and easy to set up
I got this blu-ray player because it will play all regions of dvds. It also is wifi capable. Two very important features in my search for the right player to upgrade to. Sony has been a good brand for me in the past as well. The only slight inconvenience is that this player doesn't seem to hold the place of where you were on the dvd as well as some other brands. So if you rely on playback from last viewed even if you've ejected the dvd and watched something else, then this might not be the right player for you. I will keep looking to see if there is a feature that will allow for this issue to be resolved and if I figure it out, I'll update this review. ... show more
