I was looking for a replacement for my aging Yamaha Blu-Ray / SACD Player, but have found that options for universal disc players are becoming very rare - especially if you need a player for SACDs. Thankfully I came across this Krovatar player which promised to do all that I needed at a very affordable price. Having never heard of the brand, and at this price point, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been very pleasantly surprised. The player arrived in nice packaging, includes a clear manual, and even an HDMI cable. The player is basic, but solidly built. Setup was very easy, and the menu system and options are very straightforward and easy to understand. It comes with a full-sized remote control (with included Duracell batteries) which can also be paired via Bluetooth so you don't need line of sight in order to use it reliably. The player feels solid and the tray loading mechanism is very smooth. It reads discs significantly faster than my old Yamaha player. I also like that it has dual HDMI outputs so one can be used for dedicated audio only. I tested DVDs, Blu-Ray, CD, and SACDs. All of them played flawlessly and the image quality is great. For the audiophiles, one thing to keep in mind (and noted in the product description), is that this player will not play multi-channel SACD. SACD is limited to 2 channel, but this is all I required so it's perfect for my usage scenario. I did have a couple basic questions, and when I reached out to support via email I received helpful responses within an hour. It seems that Kovatar, although a new brand, is dedicated to supporting their products and customers.     • This player Rules!
Got this last week to have Atmos and Dolby Vision and to play my large 3D collection and 4k blu rays and well as my old dvd collection with my new AWOL Aetherion Max. It beyond exceeded my expectations!! The unit is quiet and the menus are fast. The 3d looked outstanding and the 4k Dolby Vision and HDR all worked perfectly with zero hassle. Also I want to add that I had some questions to make sure I was getting the most out of the unit and customer service got back to me immediately and answered all my questions and were genuinely enthusiastic about informing me with any info I wanted! This is a great company. Get it while you can before everyone else catches on:) I’m likely to buy a second unit for my other viewing room in the house. Nothing compares to this unit anywhere near this price range. Completely happy customer and ZERO complaints ! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars! ... show more

    • Our first region-free player
So my girl and I decided to invest in one of them there region free 4k players to further expand on our collection and get to finally see films and sets we had already purchased. This one seemed kind of risky since the company is new, and while the audio options are fairly limited, our personal setup pairs well here since we live in an apartment. Our TV is a good LG with full HDR support etc, but for the most part we stick to stereo or with sound bar on occasion. So far performance has been good to great(knock on wood), though we've yet to try much in the way of heavy layer UHD disks, though we have seen a few normal 4ks. We mainly got this for the region compat and one must chjange the code by option in the settings menu. One can google it. So far it has been fantastic and when paired with such great film restorations it has been like discovering a whole new world of cinema we felt has vanished since we don't like many newer shows and films. The Jacky Chan Breakout Hits collection looks amazing in 4k but so do many others we own, and the region B blu-rays also have been incredible. I'd say the size of the device is fairly small to my eyes, my PS5Pro is gargantuan by comparison but the Switch 2 is smaller. Load times are okay, it can be somewhat iffy when turning the unit back on as the screen saver and auto shutdown after a while is quick(can't find the option in the menus again) and it say one can press enter on the controller to resume at the last time or another button to go to menu, but those don't seem to be the named buttons and we typically don't want to chance it haha. Regardless, it generally resumes where we left off but after a shutdown we tend to have to search for where we left off manually. In summation I'd recommend taking a chance on this unit, it seems well made though the disc drive is kind of noisy lol. We also had some issues pairing the control via bluetooth. It seems reasonably priced for what it offers, and for us it has been well worth the purchase. We've watched quite a few films on it so far, 4Ks, plenty of restorations, 1080p stuff its all be good. ... show more

    • Had it for 1 week and crashed already
Thought it would be great, after about a week it froze. Couldn't do anything. Remote wouldn't work, buttons on the actual dvd player didn't even work. Very unreliable. And for some reason amazon gave it a good quality checkmark when I typed bad quality. Had unplug, and replug it back. This thing should be 10$ at most for how fast it crashes. ... show more

    • Great player, with excellent support
I've been looking for a decent UHD/4K player that didn't have a UI which was made when Windows 3.1 was cutting edge, and based on the other reviews thought I would give this a chance. In terms of both visuals and performance, the UI is attractive and snappy with a multitude of options. So far I've had no issues with compatibility for any of the UHD/Blu-Ray/DVDs I've tried on it so far, with no skipping or jumping like some players I've tried, and it's surprisingly whisper quiet during playback. The media option allows for playback over the network and by USB, and again, so far no issues with playback and with discovering/logging into my NAS. I did have one odd issue with the disc tray not going back in, however I reached out to the support team and within a couple of hours they got back to me and helped with resolving the issue. Overall I'd give it a 5/5, as the playback is everything I need, and in the age of AI auto-responses and companies either ignoring you or asking you to power-cycle then shrugging their shoulders, the support is probably some of the best I've experienced. ... show more

The Krovatar KBU-300 has quality internal components, very clear instructions, and comes with a Bluetooth remote. I've had no trouble playing a variety of UHD and Blu-Ray titles from various regions.     • BT paring for headphones !!!
Loving the BT option for my headphones, and the player is great overall. No extra apps bogging down the remote, simple OS to navigate through, 4K and 3D are excellent. I am pleasantly satisfied after a months use.

    • I was skeptical BUT…
I saw the specs and was skeptical at first, but after getting my hands on this bad boy a few days ago, I’ve been loving it ever since. This player absolutely delivers. It’s my first physical media player since the Blu-ray days yearssss ago, as I’ve been a streaming fanboy for quite some time (don’t judge me 😅). But it was finally time to come over to the dark side. The UI is fast, the settings are plentiful, and it does exactly what it promises. For the home theater connoisseurs out there, I’m sure you’ll have far more technical insight than I do, but if you’re looking for a player that packs a laundry list of features at a fraction of the price of its competitors… THIS IS THE ONE! ... show more
