  • GREAT PLAYER/GREAT PRICE!!!!!!
This Blu-Ray player is great. It seems to give an upscale picture and audio. It is compact and runs very quiet.

  • excellent, excellent, excellent
Best stand alone bluray player I've ever owned--has features too numerous to mention and super easy to setup--I've already thrown the original box away-I will not be sending it back for any reason

  • Works well except for BD-RDL burned discs
After about a year of use and happy with it so far, I ran across a problem with bd-rdl discs burned with 1920x1080i video. About 30 minutes into the video, the video image hangs, but the audio keeps going. If I toggle pause, it updates the video to current time, but then hangs again. All bd-rdl discs do the same, so I had to convert them all to 1280x720 and burn them on single layer. I know it's the player, because when I run the disc in the computer using a blu-ray player software, it doesn't hang. All other discs work, although some discs didn't get audio, so I had to change the format to something other than default. Overall, I'm happy with the player and use it often. ... show more

  • Great Compact Player
This was a nice little player when I got it, but I really haven't used it much until recently. I bought this one about six months ago, and the audio has cut out. It played Blu Ray as well as home made DVD's but several discs later there is no sound. I tried: Replacing the cord Swapping jacks on the TV Wiggling the jacks Tying a different player ( different player sound works, but Panasonic doesn't) Trying different discs Getting the TV remote out and switching the sound output. This fixed the problem somewhat by playing sound through the TV speakers, but the audio is weak and poor quality this way. I cannot think of any more troubleshooting to do. The Amazon troubleshooting interface does not cover loss of audio. When I go to the Manufacturer website I do not get any useful options. I wish I had purchased a warranty. Update: I got a different player, and the sound did not work on that one either, so I started plugging and unplugging the HDMI jacks, and then I swapped the two jacks on the TV ( I have another player hooked up to the TV). Finally, the sound started working. The moral of this story is to use new cables if possible, and if something doesn't work, then keep unplugging and plugging in the HDMI cables, even after you feel they do not work. This is especially necessary if your TV is a few years old, like mine. My conclusion: Troubleshooting is important, and get a warranty. ... show more

  • Stopped working 2 days after return window
Do not buy this BD/DVD player. I had the exact same problem some other reviewers noted. I was watching a DVD yesterday with no problems (it is clean and in perfect condition) and I turned it off to go to bed. The next day it will not play. By the way, it is a retail US NTSC region disc of the TV show Shogun (1980). It is not a foreign film, a bootleg, or anything of the sort. I power cycled the system. Still would not work. I unplugged the system and left it for 10 minutes, plugged it back in. Still says incompatible. I tried another disc and it worked. Swapped back to Shogun, will not work again. I successfully performed a reset to factory settings by holding open/close button and "0" on the remote for 5 seconds, then toggling over to 08FIN and holding OK for 5 more seconds. After the reset, I powered the player back on, went through the setup again. The disc would still not play. I attempted to update the firmware. The menu shows version 1.09, but Panasonic's website shows the latest is 1.83. The player did not accept the firmware from Panasonic on any attempt, it just kept telling me my USB stick was incompatible. I tried two different USB sticks and an SD card in an SD card reader, and I followed the instructions in each case. I tried FAT, FAT32, and NTFS file systems for the USB sticks. No dice. I later found a comment here on Amazon saying Panasonic has a different numbering scheme for the current version and 1.09 IS the latest version. Thanks for the terrible support information Panasonic, I have to learn about the latest version from an Amazon comment? Anyway, I have tried everything to get this disc to play, and it simply will not play. It seems like it may play some OTHER discs, but how many times? Once? Twice? This defeats the entire purpose of owning a physical media player. By the way, it has warranty -- you have to pay for shipping both ways. Not worth it. This thing is going into to the trash and I will never, ever, buy a Panasonic product ever again. ... show more

  • Fantastic No Frills Budget Blu-Ray Player
What an awesome little Blu-ray player. It does it job. This player has no wifi or an ethernet port, which is awesome for its price. The blu-ray version of Ready Player One looks amazing. This player reminds me of the late 2000's budget dvd players. Awesome budget blu-ray player. Like many reviews has stated, there is no buttons on the player. You will need to rely on the remote which is inadequate and somewhat awkward if you have multiple remotes on your AV system. Unfortunately, you will need to source your own HDMI cable since the player does not come with one. Overall great player for those looking for a no-frills budget player from a reputable company such as Panasonic. ... show more

  • Price and quality
Not a bad little player for the price. I didn't even know Panasonic still existed. Last time I owned a Panasonic product was back in the 70's. Good clarity for my BlueRay disks. The menu is very user friendly and the remote is very sensitive to touch. No delays. Overall good purchase. Thumbs up!

  • Great DVD Player!
Great DVD Player. We have been buying blue ray DVDs for $1-$2 at thrift shops and that is far less than buying from streaming services. It's a lot of fun watching our collection of favorite movies grow. The DVD player functions flawlessly and doesn't seem to be bothered by very light scratches on the DVD. After having a few players die on us over the years, it seems like this one is well built and will last. ... show more
