I purchased the SIMO Solis Pro 5G hotspot primarily for travel, working remotely and as a backup internet solution. It has exceeded my expectations. Setup was incredibly simple right out of the box. I powered it on, followed the prompts within the app, and was connected within minutes. The touchscreen display makes it easy to monitor battery life, signal strength, data usage, and connected devices without having to dig through menus. The connection has been consistently reliable and it does seem to connect to the strongest carrier available. It often seems to default to T-Mobile, but I've been happy with the connection speeds so far. I also appreciate not having to deal with SIM cards or carrier contracts. Battery life has been excellent. It easily lasts through a full workday, and the fact that it can double as a power bank for my devices is a welcome additional that I know will come handy. The device itself feels well-built and durable, and I like having the peace of mind that I can take it almost anywhere and stay connected. While it's not the cheapest hotspot on the market, the convenience, flexibility, and reliability make it worth the investment for me.     • Not worth it for ALL of Latin America
Useless in Latin America. Only kind of works in a handful of large cities. My phone easily gets full bars roaming on 5g or 4g on claro/tigo/liberty while this device can’t even connect to any network. Customer service won’t refund my data plan even though there was 0 data usage since the device refuses to connect. Seems like this company charges a premium for data (it’s cheaper to buy data locally) but when it comes time to connect to network, Simo is cheap and doesn’t want to approve local 4g/5g network access. Just buy a local SIM card (prepay is easier but postpay is more versatile) and buy a cheaper hotspot or just use dual sim on phone. Hands down the worst device and service i have ever paid for. The battery life is also horrible so i will toss this device in the trash so no one has to experience the pain, frustration, and overall anxiety from relying on this device. I’d only recommend this if you go to a large city and sit inside all day with this connect to charger. Waste of money. ... show more

    • Good for international remote work
Works well. Just worked from Spain for 2 full days without issues. Signal strength wasn’t great in some areas but generally good. Even with low signal strength I was able to work online. No issues with teams calls; however I didn’t have my camera on. Battery lasted me the full 2 days. Only surprise was that I seemed to burn through data faster than usual. On my phone hotspot I use maybe 2 gigs/day but was closer to 4 with this device. Not sure why. Still a good buy ... show more

I got this hotspot for my trips outside of US. I had the small lite one before and since I've had it for a long time, it finally stopped working. I had to upgrade to this one, and it did not disappoint. I loved that it's fast, signal is strong, it looks cooler than the orange one, and has a long battery life. Would definitely recommend this hotspot for traveling and just for any wifi need. ... show more

The Solis Pro worked exactly as hoped for! Setup was easy and the prices for the data packs very reasonable, especially if you're somewhere without Wi-Fi. I took with me to a cabin I rented near a town and it not only found one but two strong signals and effortlessly switched between each. The signals provided enough bandwidth for browsing the web, emailing, watching 1080p videos, and even some light teleworking! Very impressed and glad I made this purchase! ... show more

    • Do not buy! Very sketchy practices on data plans.
I would avoid this device. I purchased several 20GB plans late last year. These were lifetime plans (non expiring) which showed in my plan data. When I would consume a plan it would show the usage and that it was consume and it would role to the next 20Gb. I went on a trip and when I connected none of the plans appeared under my account. I reached out to online support and spoke to Alex. He said once a plan expires its record is removed from my account. So basically you have 0 reference on how and when you used the data. So, they can just remove it and say you consumed it and you have to trust thats accurate. This is very different from when I purchased the device and data plans last year. When a data plan was consumed it would show it was used and when as well as the remaining unused data plans available. I would avoid this device and company as this is as shady as it gets. ... show more

I did a TON of research on hotspots for international travel and originally bought the Solis Hero 4G LTE, but ended up returning that to purchase the 5G hotspot and here’s why: Simo’s data plans are pricey and I didnt end up using them. This product (5G Solis Pro) has a slot for a physical SIM card so you’re not tied to the pricey plan. Make sure to plan in advance because data only plans are unique - for example, I found one easily in Australia, but people were VERY confused when I asked about data only in New Zealand. You can buy SIM cards before you leave the country to avoid this. You can use a normal SIM card that has data, but you need to have a phone to activate (newer iPhones won’t work because they don’t have a physical sim slot). It’s nice to have the option to use the Simo service if you can’t find a SIM card, so it was a safe option all the way around. I did not have trouble with throttling and did not notice a difference between Simo service and SIM card service. Highly recommend the Pro version, you’ll save money in the end!! ... show more

    • Nice mobile router.
When deciding with Mobile Hotspot to purchase, I was debating between this one and another company which was offering a free 2 GB/month lifetime plan, but it was 4G and lower wifi band. I liked the idea that this device was not just a mobile hotspot, but also a power bank which gives the device a longer run time, or a quick way to power up my cell phone if it gets low. I also liked that this company had multiple plans, like a day use no data limit, monthly subscriptions, as well as 1,2,5,10 GB pre pay that are good for a year, or good for 15 years. They also have plans good for just USA, region specific, or global. Just purchased this. Product works almost as advertised. Issue #1 You can change the wifi name and password of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHZ bands, but no way to change 6 GHz band at this time. First thing I do with Wifi is to change name and password for security reasons so this makes the 6 GHz band unusable at this time. Also, you have to go to the website to make these changes, there is no way to do this directly on the device. Note: This device is dual band. The options are: Dual Band (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Dual Band (2.4 GHz + 6 GHz), 2.4 GHz only, 5 GHz only, 6 GHz only. I would like to have a Dual Band (5 GHz + 6 GHz) but not a deal breaker. Issue #2 It does come with the lifetime 1 GB per month and a 10 GB starter. I pre-purchased another 10GB (good for 15 years). There is no way for the customer to choose the priority of which plan gets used first. I would like for the lifetime accumulated data to be used after I have run out of current paid plan, but they make you use the lifetime first until it is depleted. Issue #3 I had to sign up on their site to use the product, but when I go to their support site, my login doesn't work. Apparently their support site is a seperate site that requires another sign up. They do have a chat on the main site and I was able to get answers to my questions quickly. Once they make the change to be able to change the name and password for the 6 GHz band, I'll add another star back. If they decided to give the customer the ability to change when the 1 GB/month lifetime plan a prioity option, I'll add the other star back. ... show more
