This replaced a Dometic Brisk AC that came with our trailer. It was tripping the breaker every time we tried to turn on the fan or ac. The unit ordered was a RecPro but the unit that was delivered was Houghton - I don't have any issues with that. Houghton is a well respected industrial brand name in the maritime industry. The removal of the old unit was much more involved with relay boxes and supports and various parts and pieces. This unit was set into place on the top where it fit perfectly into the original opening. There is a bellows unit that you screw onto the top unit and then extend this down to the lower frame. There are some steel plates and long screws that engage the lower frame and the unit on the roof. These were easily tightened with a 12v ugga dugga to compress the foam to make sure there was a weather tight seal. There were three power wires to install (ac load neutral and ground). Then it was plug in the lower panel and snap it into place. There were a few screws to secure it to the overhead. The only issue I had was I didn't keep the relay box from the dometic so now my 12v furnace which is controlled by the wall thermostat isn't working. That was my bad for throwing away the relay box. I'm sure I can connect the thermostat back up when I get a chance from the many wires left behind in the overhead from the dometic unit. It started right up after we changed out the 2000i generator for our 4000w generator (the AC was a little too much for the 2200i Honda). Very impressed so far. We will see how it does over the next year or so. ... show more

There were some minor imperfections in the outer shell of the outdoor unit but it was super easy to follow the instructions and get this thing on there. Wiring comes in super nice snap together "can't mess it up" cords. The main takeaway is this comes in 2 packages but you only get 1 tracking number. Our first one took a few days extra to get the inside part and I was confused. Support was nice and even sent over the 2nd tracking number. The inside unit has a really neat display. The remote has a very limited distance. Also if you use the button on the unit itself it switches back to Celsius and the remote can't take back over until you turn it off with the button. It's a lot quieter than our old unit. First one was a succes so we bought another to replace the second unit in the bedroom. ... show more

It was packed 3 well padded boxes thick. Very secure. The unit is heavy, but the build quality is second to none. All copper was silverbrazed with b cup 5. (Grade 3). All components were robust and heavy wall. Compressor is whisper quiet. I was so impressed, I bought a second one to replace my forward unit. I replaced two Coleman Mach series. Both were good, and cooled well, but my generator could only push one...barely. I can run both these units at the same time no issue. They cool better, they are quieter, and have less draw. This unit is 100% complete. The only thing extra you have to buy is a tube of sealant and 3 wire nuts. The instal took about 45 minutes each. It is ridiculously easy. Inside, outside unit, all hardware, seals and remote are included. Perfect for the DIY guy or gal that has an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver. Instructions are very good, but you won't need them. 4 bolts, 3 wires, instal 2 batteries...Done. ... show more

The unit was installed on a 2003 Roadtrack, which is a converted Dodge Van. Unit was well packed although interior part was not delivered until a few days later. Install manual had some translation and factual errors, however the unit was far easier to install than the manual would lead you to believe. The bottom of the unit is essentially flat, but has about a 1 1/4” tall dense foam square that fits between the unit and the roof. There are three additional pieces under the overhang of the unit towards the rear—net effect—you don’t have to worry about how to move it across the roof. Installed on 86 Fleetwood Jamboree class C motorcoach. My 14x14 was smaller than it's 14x14, so I chopped off the insert and the rest of the install was a breeze. Runs great, fan never stops while on though and auto fan is only available in auto mode, not cool mode.

Anyone have a problem with condensate dripping into the rv from this unit? Any thoughts how to fix it? I expected the install of this unit to take most of the day. From turning the breaker off to remove the old unit to turning it back on with the unit installed took less than 3 hours. And the cooling power is just as expected for a 15k btu unit. Very pleased. 100% would recommend. ... show more
