  • Awesome unit
I added this to my 6X12 cargo trailer which I use to bring motorcycles to and from the racetrack. My girlfriend and I sleep in it over the course of our often 3 day stays at the track. This unit is fantastic for the midwest. Keeps the trailer warm during the cool nights in the spring and fall, and also capable of keeping it seriously cool in the hot summer months. The unit is also surprisingly quiet! I was expecting it to make quite a bit of noise and vibration on the thin tin roof of the trailer but it's so quiet that I couldn't even tell when the compressor was cycling. I insulated the trailer with R-5 foam board on both the walls and the ceiling to help the trailer retain warm/cool air which should dramatically help efficiency, however with the power this thing has, that may be a bit unnecessary if you wanted to skip it and don't mind the higher electricity usage. If you're doing what I did, converting a cargo trailer into something to take short stays in, you'll obviously need to run AC power to the Air Conditioning unit. This was my first AC power project that I ever attempted and it wasn't bad at all. I ended up mounting a 30A shore power plug on the outside of the trailer and mounting half a dozen receptacles inside the trailer, as well as lights and on a light switch. Fun little project for a DIYer who isn't afraid to tear their trailer apart. ... show more

  • Arrived early and works great!
I installed this unit on my 22 foot RV trailer. It heats and cools with no problem. I can't say enough how pleased I am with this unit and the company's responsiveness to my needs. The unit arrived early without the bottom (interior) controls and remote. I called the company to make sure these came with the unit. I got a human only 1 option in the phone tree. She was wonderful. The part arrived 2 days later. It was easy to install. I put a thermometer in the back bedroom and it was only 2 degrees different from the temp I set it at. Other units DO NOT send the interior controls. Beware. For no hassles and great service, go with this unit. ... show more

  • Much quieter than my other a/c
I purchased this a/c to replace and existing unit to reduce the interior fan noise. when I removed the old unit, I confirmed I had the correct size roof opening but my Jayco design routed alot of ceiling electrical around the opening. I tape wrapped all of the wiring and was able to move it out of the way but I had to modify the lower plastic grill mounting that went into the opening to get it flush with the ceiling. Once that was done, it fit well and th e bolt holes aligned with the roof unit. Started the unit and wasn't sure it was going to be able to handle the humid air but in about 30 minutes it was awesome and I could see the condensate rolling off the roof. ... show more

  • As good as advertised (or even better)!
The installation was very easy and the instructions actually made sense and could be followed. Incredibly quiet and very efficient. Replaced two Coleman units with these and thankful I did. Highly recommend the 13.5 low profile heat pump.

  • Pumps humidity into the living space
This AC is definitely quiet but the two-fan design has the interior fan running all the time. It is quiet but the problem is the air is continuously running over the wet aluminum fins and in the compressor-off cycle, it just pumps an incredible amount of humidity back into the living space. In humid weather, I've woken to 80% RH inside despite the temperature being very cool. Definitely a sticky feeling. The manufacturer says it is necessary to keep the fan running all the time so that the temperature sensor can react to changes in interior temperature and cycle on/off appropriately. Perhaps this is true, but it is done at the sacrifice of another measurement of comfort: humidity! I ordered directly from RecPro and I have used their "contact us" option twice to inquire about this problem and I've heard nothing from them. They also sent me an email requesting me to review the product. I did and gave it just 2 or 3 stars. My comments and pictures have not been published to their web site. They don't have or allow traditional reviews like this one. They clearly filter them for the most positive feedback and discard anything that might be considered negative. I'd be cautious about using RecPro. ... show more

  • Simple to install and extremely quiet.
You can save a few dollars if you purchase these directly from Recpro and have a business to ship to. I bought 2 of them for my 67 MCI MC-5 bus conversion to replace the loud, old colman's ACs. They were pretty simple to install and fit perfectly in the holes created in the bus skin for the colmans. Upon inspection they seem to be very well built. The heat function works well with weather in the 40s F, although I have a propane hydronic heater if it gets much colder than that. Very quiet. Fans do stay on most of the time but rise and fall when the compressor kicks in. Able to run both units with the old 70s onan RV propane 6k generator . Shipping was fast from Regpro as I received them within a week of ordering. We'll see if they last as long as the colmans. ... show more
