  • Great quality, Excellent customer support!! Update. Additional update.
Color: White Material Type: Ducted
The unit installed easily, I had one minor issue which was solved very quickly with a conversation with RecPro. The AC unit is obviously high quality, and very nice. The installation was simple and not difficult at all. Additionally!!! RecPro is a VERY, VERY, good vendor. Great customer support, and they always do the right thing. I am very impressed with them. Highly recommended!! After having it installed for a couple of weeks I just wanted to follow up. This unit is far superior to the old Dometic I removed, I really wish I had done this a year or two ago. This AC unit is MUCH more quiet than the OEM AC. The controls are much improved over the old one as well. Having the heat pump function is a true game changer, as the RV stays at a very comfortable temperature throughout even when it's chilly. If you are considering this AC unit you will be very happy, it is top notch! I also have to say, RecPro is a great company to deal with. Last update: It finally got really cold here in Alabama, and I just thought to update this review once more. This AC / heat pump unit is just the best! I am still so happy that is so much more quiet than the OEM Dometic. But the performance is so good also! In hot weather the AC works great, and really cools the RV down. The heat pump works just as well, and maintains a constant, comfortable temperature even on cold nights. I have added to the heat with the fireplace on really cold nights with great results. I will say, I wish I would have replaced the OEM unit with this one a few years ago. This AC unit has improved my comfort so much. My RV is so much more comfortable just because of having an always comfortable temperature and so much less noise. Well done Rec Pro!! ... show more

  • Worth it
Color: White Material Type: Ducted
I’ve had this more than a year in the TX heat it works really well. It is much quieter than the original ac unit. I love that I now don’t have to use propane to heat when heat is needed and the dehumidifier is an awesome option especially in an RV! The only downside side is I cannot find replacement filters, one broke when I was cleaning it. It was definitely a two person install and is quite heavy to get up on the roof. ... show more

  • Deceptively powerful
Color: Black Material Type: Ducted
I installed this unit myself. It was easy hook up, though special care needs to be taken when installing the indoor component to make sure you're aligning it correctly. At first, I was frustrated by the low volume of air I felt coming out. I thought that I'd just traded my 13.5KBTU unit for something that only claimed to be 15KBTU.... but it was installed so I'd just see what happened. The unit does not stay on all the time in the southern Florida heat like my Dometic. At first I thought it just wasn't performing, but later I realized that even though it wasn't on all the time, and the compressor wasn't running all the time, and the fan was MUCH quieter than the Dometic it replaced... it actually maintained the temperature to what I wanted. So... nice trick! You got me. The thermostat is misleading. I don't think it's well calibrated. I set the temperature to 60F and it's comfortably 72F in the heat of day and cool of night... but I can live with that. I haven't tried the heating functions but I expect I will be satisfied with that as well as a tertiary heat source for the long, frigid, 2-day winter southern Florida has to offer. This unit was considerably less expensive than most other RV heat pumps, much MUCH quieter than Dometic Brisk Air it replaced, doesn't require any in-wall wiring beyond 20A power line, and up to the challenge of keeping the temperature comfortable in the tropical heat. Assuming it doesn't fail in 6 months, I'm very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • Great unit
Color: Black Material Type: Ducted
We bought a 5th wheel that only came with 2 roof top ac units. One up front in master br and on over the kitchen living room area that is vented through the ceiling and vented to the back of the 5th wheel in the bunk house. Well the first camping trip the bunk house was hot a can be kids were sweating and we had 4 fans blowing back there. We have a roof vent in place over the bunk house with a 14x14 hole. Called manufacturer to ask if my unit was prepped for 3rd ac gave them the Vin # they said nope not prepped. So I was like oh well I will run mh own 12 Guage wire through ceiling and down through cabinet out bottom of 5th wheel and plug it into a receptical at the camp ground each time. So we took out roof vent and to our surprise 😮 there was already a 12 Guage wire ran to a j box for us. I went and looked in the breaker panel and sure enough there was a 20 amp breaker labeled 3rd ac/optional. So we have the unit installed in about 2 hours. Ran a bead of roof sealant around the top and set the unit right on top and it fit like a glove. The wireless remote is amazing and it has the thermostat built into it so we mounted the remote to the wall in the bunkhouse and it works amazing!!!! If your rv is prepped for a 3rd ac or your replacing an existing unit this is awesome. It cools and heats really well. No thermostat wires to run. So simple. I am a swimming pool technician not an rv mechanic. But this was so easy to install. The inside unit we bought wirh it just vents the air directly into the bunk house I did not want to use the vent system as this unit is specifically cooling my kids bunkhouse. And the temperature display is right on the unit in the ceiling in a digital read out. I would highly recommend this unit. So glad the manufacturer was wrong about it not being prepped. One last thing I will say is that while we were on the roof we found 2 spots were the manufacturers cut the roof too big around 2 of the vent pipes and bare wood was showing. I sealed those up while I was up there as well. It's sad how many issues a brand new rv has right out the door. They should have better quality control. Anyway thanks for reading my review............. ... show more

  • Not great at all and Customer service is non-existent
Color: White Material Type: Ducted
*2nd UPDATE* reached out multiple times to seller and they kept trying to make me get up on the roof and take pictures of the unit even though I'm disabled and told them that and when i would provide the pictures and info they asked for they would just ask for more leading me to believe they were just trying to frustrate meand get me to give up and leave them alone. It worked. So don't make my mistake and buy this ac that dies after a few uses and gets 0 help from the seller. there are much better options for cheaper on Amazon. *UPDATE* unit no longer works at all. Started making a ticking noise then there was a loud clunk and it stopped working completely. It is only a couple months old and dead. Avoid at all costs cause $1500 for something that breaks within a coupld months is made poorly. Seems great but barely moves any air on high speed. Have a 5th wheel and even though this is a higher BTU then my old unit it's doesn't move the air and struggles. My 5th wheel has 5 vents total and if you have more then 3 open you can feel any air coming out of any of them. Severely disappointed in this product. Save yourself $600 and buy the sub $1k units you see on here instead cause they will more then likely perform just as good but sure as hell can't be much worse. What a waste of money. Only bright side is that the temperature you can feel does seem to be cold it just doesn't push the air to actually cool anything. ... show more

  • The Cold Never Bothered Us Anyway
Color: White Material Type: Ducted
Oh, how I wanted this to be the answer to all of our problems. I’ll start by saying we are in the unique situation of living in our 36ft Class A in Central America. (We do have a large cover over the rig so we’re not in direct sunlight, but ambient temps are usually in the high 80s and 90s.) We switched out our 2012 Dometic for this unit hoping for better cooling and a quieter system. While is quieter, the cooling aspect is—not great—which, given its literal purpose, is concerning. It seems to act like a mini split, so it is constantly running. The fan is on all the time and then the compressor will kick on for cooling. We have to set it about 5 degrees cooler than our old system to even feel comparable cooling. It also doesn’t seem to pump as much air through the vents as the original system. Not sure about energy efficiency yet, but I’m not betting on it being any cheaper than our old unit due to it constantly being on. The remote is convenient, and the unit is much sleeker looking than the old one. Also, the filters are much easier to clean. It was super easy to install and tidies up a lot of the outdated connections. Unfortunately, the sticking point is that it’s just not cold enough. And as that’s arguably the whole point—I can’t recommend this for warm weather travelers. (The heating element may work beautifully, but we will never have need to try it in our location.) We can’t return it, and have already paid so much in duties to get it down here, so we may just keep it as a back-up. But for now we’ll be going back to the clunky, loud, old Dometic in preparation for summer. ... show more
