It's hard to find a good carrier that checks all the boxes - large enough, easy to store, lots of windows, easy access, not too expensive. This one comes close. It is large enough for my 13 lb cat, it folds up nicely, has lots of windows and is reasonable priced. However, there are a lot of zippers which can be opened by a resourceful kitty. In addition, the front and back panels are what keep the carrier sturdy so the only way to put a cat in the carrier is from the top. I have always preferred to put my cat in a carrier through the front panel, especially when she doesn't want to get in. It is a bit more difficult to get her in the top and get the panel zipped up quickly. Other than that, this is a nice carrier and I would recommend it. ... show more

NOTE: I have not tried flying with my dog in this carrier. Seller clams it's ariline approved and some reviewers seem to have used it successfully for that purpose, but definitely do your due diligence, as pet policies can vary by airline. I got this carrier to serve as a portable crate for my 10# mini dachshund, as I travel with her often enough to justify the need for such an item. I wanted something versatile enough to function as both a crate and a car seat, so it needed to be roomy enough to fit both her and a small bed or blanket for additional comfort on long trips ("small bed" = cheap cat bed I bought from Walmart that's lightly padded). This carrier serves both needs. The adjustable strap and rigid bottom allows me to not only carry her without the bottom collapsing, but it also doubles as a dog car seat-- just increase the length of the shoulder strap and throw it over the head rest and unzip the top flap. Viola! The end pocket doesn't afford tons of space, but plenty for her leash, harness, waste bags, and a toy. I clip her collapsible bowl to the metal fastener of the shoulder strap. She loves it and so do I! ... show more

This carrier has worked very well for taking my cat to the vet. The carrier is sturdy enough to hold him without me worrying it will break or bend and the multiple ways of opening the carrier make it very easy to get him in and out.
