  • Innovative idea, outstanding execution!
Color: XL carrier
This product is a rarity in that it actually impressed me, both in design and execution, and met or exceeded all of its advertised features. Having been married to a vet tech for 15 years, I have a soft spot for fuzzy critters, especially cats. And too often find kitties abandoned, and living hard on the street. I always carry a big bag of treats in the car, and when I see a kitty out in the world that looks like it hasn't had a good meal in some time, I leave them a large pile of treats (figure, they could use the extra fat and calories in the treats, over regular feed). But lately, I've come across a few kitties that have come up to me and flatly asked for help. But I've had no way to safely transport them. The pivotal moment for me was when I saw a cat walking alongside the highway out in the middle of nowhere, just outside of town. I pulled over to see if it wanted some help but instead it took off into the brush. But it occurred to me, what if it agreed and followed me back into my vehicle? I had no safe way to transport it. Had I just let the fuzzy run around inside my SUV, there's no telling what could have happened. It might have freaked out once we started moving and reacted with violence or panic. It could have wanted to hide somewhere safe and might have picked under my feet by the pedals. Or it could have reacted with fear or car-sickness and gotten sick or urinated on my upolstry. Unlikely, but all possible scenarios. I decided I needed a better option. So I started looking for collapsible carriers and came across this one. I ordered the unit, and so far have been very happy with it. I've been able to transport three cats with it so far (separate incidents, not simultaneous), and it has worked beautifully each time. The staff at the pet hospitals and shelters have all commented on it. And I love that it folds flat when not in use, making it easy to keep in the back of my SUV full time. The latches all seem to be well designed and made. Nothing has failed me yet. It does take a moment to figure out how to use all the various buckles and snaps that hold it together, and it takes paying attention to make sure you deploy and collapse it correctly, but once you get the hang of it it takes no time to do either. I've only transported quite thin/small kitties in it, so no real weight yet. But it feels very solid and strong, so I'm not worried about the day coming when I have to transport a rather ..."rotund" kitty. So, all in all, I can say that this product impressed me, came through on all of its advertising promises, and I'm glad I bought it. I can whole-heartedly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Sturdy, spacious, and space-saving Sturdy, spacious, and space-saving
Color: XL carrier
One of the most innovative hard-sided cat crates I’ve seen. We got the extra large size for our purebred Maine Coon, who will probably grow into it. It came fully assembled, neatly folded and packaged, and opens up into a sturdy crate that is also spacious for my cat. I was worried that it would collapse easily, but I did not have any issues with it. It didn’t come with any padding or bed, but I put a blanket in there which sufficed. My cat was cozy and happily stayed in there, which made it easy to get him to his vet appointments and back. It folds down easily so it doesn’t take up much storage space. 100% recommend for anyone needing a hard-sided cat crate. ... show more

  • I couldn't be happier
Color: XL carrier
I recently purchased the SportPet X-Large Hard-Sided Travel Cat Carrier, and I couldn't be happier with it. The carrier is extremely well-built, sturdy, and provides plenty of room for larger cats or multiple small pets. The hard-sided construction gives me peace of mind that my pet is safe and secure during travel. One of my favorite features is the patented wide side-opening door. It makes getting my cat in and out of the carrier much easier and significantly reduces the stress that usually comes with travel. The door design is much more convenient than traditional front-loading carriers. I also appreciate that the carrier is foldable, making it easy to store when not in use. Despite being lightweight and portable, it feels very durable and capable of handling pets up to 35 pounds. The ventilation is excellent, allowing plenty of airflow while keeping my pet comfortable. The dark gray and teal color combination looks modern and attractive, and the overall design is practical for trips to the veterinarian, long-distance travel, or emergency transportation. Overall, I highly recommend the SportPet X-Large Hard-Sided Travel Cat Carrier to anyone looking for a spacious, durable, and pet-friendly travel carrier. It has made traveling with my cat much easier and less stressful for both of us. ... show more

  • Good crate. 1 flaw.
Color: XL carrier
This turned out to be a pretty great Carrie. I got the larger size. It is sturdy and has a lot of room for a small pet. I only gave four stars bc while it IS collapsible and I love that, when you want to put it back together, the clips you have to line up to make it all snap together are on the inside on BOTH sides. So imagine how hard it is to keep on eye on 3 clips on the right and 3 clips on the left, on the inside of the crate, while you’re trying to close it up! Doable? Yes. Frustrating? Yes. Otherwise a good crate and I’d recommend it. ... show more

  • Great buy, I would purchase again!
Color: XL carrier
Very fine x-large cat carrier! I have a smaller version that I have used for 2 years. It worked great, now my cat is larger and needs a larger carrier to go to the vet. The smaller one made her very uneasy and uncomfortable (I don't know if cats are claustrophobic). This carrier is very roomy so she can move around and better suited for her size. It is well built, with a vary wide side opening and is sturdy even though it is collapsible for more efficient storage. The assembly took about 2 minutes and seems to be a very safe carrier. I not big on the colors (turquoise/gray) but I purchased it based on my history with the previous carrier (same manufacturer). Great buy, I would purchase again! ... show more

  • Never Gonna Give You Up! Never Gonna Give You Up!
Color: XL carrier
Very. Large. I can’t stress that enough ESPECIALLY if this carrier is to move across the country like it was for my Person and I. This temporary home was anxiously purchased for that 1500mile and three-day trek from the East Coast to the middle of the country for Murray, our 17.5lb American shorthair mix. He’s a CHONK. Solid cat through and through he’s knocked things off counters and pictures with faint constitutions from the walls. When the carrier arrived, despite understanding its collapsible nature, I did have a moment of “ah crap did I miscalculate?” No. No I did not. When opened and locked in position, it takes up roughly the body space of a 17gal packing tote and nearly the full height of my “person space” when the back seats of my Prius were folded flat for him to sit on. If I didnt already have an obstructed view, I would NOT assume his carrier would block my rear-view. I was able to pick up The Monster and set him in….a he stared at me. Murray is large and his past methods of travel were always cramped, too short in carrier length, or quite frankly his massive strength began shredding “comfy mesh carriers” within the first 8hr leg. My nervous couldn’t take that crap - so when he just SAT there in his carrier, wide open, with no fuss or yeowling or distress, we had a moment of pure staring at each other. Then… Uh, Injust uhm..yea like casually closed the door. He can see sitting, standing, lounging, out of all sides. And while his paws CAN fit through the slating, he was only able to “grab” fabric items nearby and/or “clack” at the sides of the carrier since it has more than one layer (due to the locking). It never gave. I don’t even see scratches where he tried - and for the first hour of the first leg, oh lawd he tried. Although a little clumsy of a carry (I’m 5’ nothing), it was VERY easy to get a grip on the carrier and take him with. It was a two-handed carry because he’s huge but also because the carrier allowed for more movement than some of the others - but I won’t sacrifice his comfort. Unlike his other travel experiences, in the hotel he did NOT come flying out of this carrier like it was on fire. He and the other cats in our clowder actually intermittently took turns lounging in it - and sometimes, TOGETHER they fit. Catnip is recommended for any pets traveling (chamomile or whichever kind does NOT make your kitty hyper!!!!) to rub or dump in the basin of the carrier - not much made it out of the tray-like depth anyway! Feliway was an easy application into the grooves of the slats and made for better ventilation in my car. He laid flat like a Roarscarch puddle and slept peacefully through each leg with no fussing or causing the other cats to fuss. Once we arrived, it became like a temporary kennel, a place familiar to house, so we left it open for him and his siblings to retreat to until they stabilized. Overall amazing purchase. I will be buying this method for Murray’s brother, Merray, in the smaller size since he is a sleeker cat and not quite as chonky. Reference measure for Murray: 17lbs, 14.6” from foot to crown of head. His middle is approximately 6” wide across the belly, and about 50/50 body huge and leggy huge, and this carrier accommodates both! AND after the big move he isn’t afraid of the carrier so now it doubles as a home kennel! Ref pic: folded/collapsed against a 40” insignia tv. And then fully expanded next to the same tv. For depth, the interior and vacuum pic - the interior “sitting space” is as wide as the Dirt Devil Powermax Rewind’s brush head so if you have this or similar, it’s this wide PLUS my size 6.5 foot for scale. (I didn’t have any bananas for scale, I’m so sorry Reddit!) Another reference is my smallest cats’ carrier INSIDE Murray’s’ and the only reason it won’t latch is simply because Murr’s is triangle and the XXS carrier is squared. The small traditional carrier INSIDE this one measures: 19.3L x 12.6W x 13.1D in inches. Last grateful notation: the SOUND of this carrier and the material it’s made of reduced stim stress among the entire clowder. If I can ever help it, I will bar the sound of metal grates or crates from my travel plans (less required by flying, etc). Gone was the accidental rattling. No more sudden CLANG CLANG CLACK while trying to load up multiple cats. The carrier made very little if ANY road noise and was tight-packed like a Tetris set for maximizing A/C from my cars center vents. While Inwould never stack things ON him, I was confident that if my art pictures resting atop the tvs in the veerrry back of the car were to shift for some reason, Murr would be protected by this carrier and without the terrible sound FX! It was easy to feed him his dry snacks and patience treats ( and another chamomile dose during some really loud engine breaking!) without having to open or breach the carriers’ lock sets. He could see me and chat me up for security without looking like a furred prisoner and I am very secure in observing how behaviorally chilled out my big lover boy has become about large travel trips. Very hotel friendly and, if the door and front are secured, left open (such as in the vacuum pic), you can insert ANOTHER tray and use it for a litter stop like we did within the hotel to keep mess down and repack speed for the mornings quicker. TIP: do not ever, EVER pour litter directly into ANY carrier meant for rest. Cats do not sleep where they defecate unless stressed or forced to, and they DEFINITELY do not eat near where defecation occurs. PLEASE use a high-sided pan (cheap from Walmart!) to fit inside and protect your kitties’ dignity and sensory needs for the long haul if you plan to be utilitarian!!! Kitty Pics: Murray has the Monroe Mole and a totally white muzzle. Merray, in the second picture, has no forehead blaze and the nip stuck on his nose like a true hemphead. (It’s chamomile, do not smoke weed around your cats, it WILL screw with their respiration system.) * they did not travel crated together, this photo is “familiarizing” them with the smell and presence of it as well as my Person and I communicating the intention to travel. A+ carrier. Did not break the bank. Collapses into a slightly thicker/bigger laptop case, and my cats aren’t traumatized by the experience. I will be a loyalist now to this carrier and its brand. Thank you. ... show more

  • If This Had Been Invented Long Ago ...
Color: XL carrier
... it would have saved countless cats the indignity of being shoved headfirst into a cramped and stuffy cat carrier. I have to admit that I had my doubts when I first saw this carrier on Amazon. It looked like a good idea but I thought it would be flimsy and unsafe. But Matthew, my cat, needed to go to the vet's clinic. At 18 pounds, he's not huge, but he is big, and he had outgrown his carrier. What do I do? Well, I read the reviews here on Amazon, and I liked what I read. So, gentle reader, I shall parrot what many have already written. 1. My fear that the carrier would be flimsy was unfounded. This is a very sturdy cat carrier. The latch works quite well, but I tend to be a worrier, so I wrapped a bungee cord around the carrier. Matthew is quite dexterous, but there is no way he could manipulate the latch. The bungee cord was not needed. 2. Putting Matthew in this carrier was so much easier than the usual head-first (or back legs first) struggle with old-fashioned ones. With the large door opening, it is easy to place him inside the carrier and close the door. He wasn't thrilled, but he wasn't all that upset, either. 3. The kitty's vet is an hour away, and we all know how most cats don't like to travel. Matthew is no exception. But he was comfortable in this carrier. He could see out all sides so he knew there was no hidden dangers. He had fresh air that flowed through the carrier, and he had plenty of room. So he did the sensible thing; he curled up and went to sleep. 4. Most people, including the vet's staff, have not seen a carrier like this one. They all loved it and wanted one of their own. I told them I got it from Amazon. My neighbor bought one (from Amazon) for her cats. Matthew has given it the kitty stamp of approval -- two paws up. It really is the best thing since sliced bread. ... show more

  • Exactly what I expected and needed
Color: XL carrier
This is the best carrier I've used for our cats, we got a kitten recently and needed something I could easily take both it and our older cat in to the vet. This is so an easy design, set up took seconds and it's not awkward to carry like those big crates. It's plastic all the way through so we did put a blanket in the bottom but not actually needed. The gate closes and locks so they can't get out. The openings in it are wide tho and the kitten was scratching us through it, he thought it was a fun game. It wasn't lol. It's stable once it's snapped together and locked into place and LOVE that it folds up flat for easy storage! So glad we purchased this. For reference one cat is 10lbs and the other is 4lb, plenty of room! Also I have a baby and 8yo in tow so this being light as heck and easy to carry- I'm sold! ... show more
