I like this toolbox, even though it’s plastic it is well built and seems very durable. Also has plenty of areas from the top of the box, the lift out tray, and a good deep inside to put more then enough tools for whatever you need to do.

    • It is compartmentalized with a removable tray
This is a really nice tool chest. Since my husband passed away, I am collecting a set of tools for myself that are friendly for my use. This chest makes it convenient to store all these new acquirements together. I like how it is compartmentalized with a removable tray. It looks really nice too with the aluminum accents. I did find the latches to be a little hard to close, as they moved away from the clamp part of the box, but I forced them back onto it. Hopefully they will hold up with my light use.     • “I like tools”
A wise person told me that one can never have too tools. I heeded that advice for 4 decades and I may be at critical mass. I haven’t any tools outside of the “I can’t it when I need it” 10 mm socket in quite some time. I have special tools that were for only one scar. I took inventory of the tool boxes and more recent tool bags, I have to consolidate them. I have one full of wrenches , another full of sockets, another long one for my breaker bars/cases torque wrenches, etc. I have some many driver bits thanks to a neighbor who no longer needed them. They are scattered to and fro everywhere and this box has a separate compartment for them. This one tool box will give me the ability to grab my needed tools from one main spot. I do realize that it will be quite heavy once I fill it, but it won’t be leaving my vehicle’s trunk very often. ... show more

    • Good built quality, but not a value
As a toolbox alone, there's nothing to complain about. The plastic seems decent quality, the metal handle, and latches feel solid, and aesthetically it looks fine, the internal tray and the clear storage area at the top are all added values over some of the similarly sized plain jane plastic toolboxes you can get from your local home improvement stores. For me this tool box was a great solution for storing a cordless trim router, extra batteries, a charger, its assorted hardware attachments, and the lid top section for some of the commonly used router bits. Everything fits well, and again, I'm not too worried about the box going through some bumps in transit The downside of this TCE Torin toolbox is the cost. Most of the similarly sized, and even similar featured tools boxes I've looked at are half the $45 cost of a TCE tool box, and even less if you don't need all the features. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice toolbox for what it is, but at the price TCE is asking I should be able to compare it to Milwaukee Packout or Dewalt ToughSystem gear more than I am Plano and Stanley boxes, and I don't think its that good. ... show more

This toolbox is perfect for my household tools. Now everything is completely organized and in one place instead of scattered all over. I like the little compartment on top for little tiny things like screws. It’s really strong and durable and easy to carry with the handle. I’m happy with it!

Between the sturdy handle and the metal latches and pretty durable plastic, I think you would have a hard time putting more weight in this box than it can handle. If it's too heavy for this box, it probably won't FIT in this box. It's mostly plastic, but very tough plastic. It might be prone to cracking in super cold temperatures? I love the big aluminum handle, it just begs to be carried (unlike a lot of steel boxes with pathetic little plastic handles). Good size for carrying select tools to a job or for storing specialty tools separately from a large toolbox. The small storage compartment on top and the removable tray give you options for organization. Very useful all around. The current price of $43.99 for this box might seem a little high, and maybe it is, but the box offers a lot of versatility and should last a while if not abused. I have another almost identical box (same size and similar features) from another brand that is serving me quite well, and I see now that it was/is priced about the same too. My only complaint is that I have a lot of things that simply won't fit in an 18" tool box. For the things that do though, this is a good way to carry them. There may be some all-steel boxes in the same price range, but they are usually REALLY flimsy, poorly made, and typically not this big either. While this isn't really a large box, it has a lot more volume than smaller plastic boxes sold for half the price. If you're shopping around, watch those dimensions, or you might spend half as much and get half as much tool box! ... show more

    • It actually floats
I got this instead of a traditional tackle box as it can be locked and it floats! Yep, filled with tackle, it still floats. And THAT is what a good box will do unless laden with heavy tools. Awesome price/performance for my use case scenario and I would recommend it as such for anyone buying it. Will it hold tools? Sure. Will it take a beating? Sure. However I am of the volition that tool boxes are made of steel and this is plastic. Unless you have light tools. Some hobbies and professions do and in that case this will also be awesome for you! ... show more

This toolbox is just a tad smaller than my old Stanley toolbox, which I think is a 19” one, and I think I paid like $30 around 2018 from Sears as a clearance sale item, so this TCE listed at $43 is a fair asking price given inflation and all. Despite the 1” smaller size, I actually find this TCE toolbox more versatile and will likely use this as my main toolbox going forward. Here’s why: the semi-transparent compartment makes it easy to store smaller items and easy to find them, a huge plus for someone getting old such as myself and becoming forgetful. The tray inside is a full sized tray, which covers the entirety of the toolbox, which can be a good/bad depending on how you use your toolbox. For example. The half-sized tray in my Stanley toolbox allows me to store taller tools, all the way up to the height of the toolbox, while this toolbox offers more storage space on the tray, but limits the size of the tool you can store inside unless you remove the tray completely. Overall I like this TCE toolbox, having more compartments, metal handle, and oversized latches. ... show more
