This is much better than I expected. Yes, there is less smoke, but it is the quality of the fire that blew me away. I have wasted years of my life poking and proding fires to keep them burning. The fire can breathe with this fire pit and it makes all the difference. My first fire was 4 log log cabin that burned steadily for over two hours and culminated in a perfect bed of coals for roasting marshmallows. Because we weren't constantly being blasted by smoke we were able to enjoy the fire all night. We patinaed the fire pit before our first fire. It looks like it has been used for years. The patinaing process is messy, but effective. I highly recommend putting the fire pit on cardboard as the process will stain concrete and kill your grass. The only drawback is that I now want all the accessories, and they aren't exactly cheap. Maybe next Christmas.

This fire pit is fantastic! We also purchased the Breeo Base. The fire lights very quickly and burns great. We have not had any issues with the smoke. We bought a hardwood that is de-barked, and that may help. We had some fairly heavy rain, and the fire continued to burn. We could not be happier with our purchase! If your hesitating because of the cost, the product is worth it!

Just received our X24. Did not go with the sear plate or insert and it turned out just fine. First burn was a complete success with a very dramatic secondary burn. This can be considered smoke "less" not smoke "free". The amount of smoke coming from the fire was drastically reduced. Even on this blustery day (April, 10th.) in northeast Ohio there was no more "musical chairs" trying to avoid the smoke. I have experienced the solo stove and it works as well. However, the Breeo is built like a tank and built to last and built in the USA! Since we have the stone surround, we went with the less expensive Corten steel model. Update: Three months in and still no buyer’s remorse. This thing works great, fires are so easy to get started and smoke “less” is best. Very important to keep it covered and cleaned out. We bought a $40 fire pit cover from Menards that works just fine.

Really like this fire pit, as most other reviewers have stated its mostly smokeless, in order for the "technology" to function, you really need a big enough fire such that all the walls are really hot; this generates the jets of hot air that come out the holes at the top and cause the 2ndary combustion. As a result, it will still smoke both at the beginning and the end when the fire is small and cooler. Also if you want a small fire, it will tend to stay cooler and thus smokier. That makes it really important that you pick the right size (19, 24 or 30) for the size fire you want to have most often. I really like the look, the contrast between the stainless still rim/legs and cor-ten body is really neat (assuming you like that look) Its a bit bulky and heavy, so I doubt I will be moving it around a lot or taking it with me on trips, the 19" and or solo stoves are clearly better adapted for that use, but it is small enough that you can move it from front to back yard with out to much hassle. It does really burn through wood rapidly, the higher temperature and airflow definitely causes it to consume more wood. So far pretty happy, only had it a week though, will update in a month or two.

I got this as a Christmas gift to myself and have used it almost every weekend it wasn't raining since then. IT IS SMOKELESS, but its not magic, it takes a bit of prep, tending and... well, work. to get the full effect of the smokeless pit. But isn't the work opart of the firepit experience!? I'm gonna sound like a commercial now... BREEO is Made in the USA , big plus for me. The design is superior to others with its X pattern and side vents to allow for air flow even with a lot of ash in the bottom. Sturdy build (made in USA) and thee are cool accessories that I haven't even begun to explore. But I will. Down here in Southeast Texas, the fire season is almost gone... but for what's left... I will sit in my suburban backyard and feel like i'm at the campground for as long as I can.
