I really like this thermometer. It connects directly to the meat and does not have a remote so it is best for inside use where you can hear the alarm go off. The screen is color and very bright and the buttons are clear and easy to press. It has multiple pre-settings for different meats and you can also customize what temp you can set it to. It has two thermometers so you can monitor two items at a time. The back has a strong magnet and will stick to any metallic surface. Mine will stick directly to my oven.

I needed a new meat thermometer after my wife decided to wash my digital thermometer. It sort of worked, so I wasn’t too upset that the display would only show one number after she cleaned it. She likes her steak medium rare and I like my medium. We have been going through years of random steaks coming off the grill. I would slice them to see how red/pink the center was. This unit has two probes and seems to be very accurate. Medium rare is now pretty easy to get to. When her steak gets to 145 deg, I take hers off and let mine get to 160 deg. It was great to be able to prepare the grossly expensive steaks exactly as we both like them. I have also used this to roast a turkey in the oven and was pleased at how easy and well it worked.

Easy to use and the display is easy to reed but the big drawback is that you can either measure Temperature or Time but it will not do both at the same time. There is a toggle switch on the back to switch between the two but if you switch from Time to Temp and back the counter is reset. I also compared the temp readout to 2 other thermometers and this unit was off by 4 degrees. I do not recommend. The best thing about this is the probes fit in my old Polder so at least I got two new temp probes out of it and they seem to be good quality. Update: After receiving 11 emails, and still getting them, from this seller trying to pay me (up to $50) to delete my review or change it to a 5 star I have downgraded my review to a 1 star. This is an unethical business practice that I do not agree with.

Replaced a thermometer that was thrown out accidentally by my son. Decided to upgrade to this version (liked the fish temp). We used this last night cooking thick ribeyes in cast iron—and I like to pull them at about 160/65. The thermometer never got above 130 or so. Yet when I finally pulled them and cut open they were way overdone. Ruined our dinner and I am sending back. I don't know if it is defective or just ineffective, but I am just going to purchase what worked for years and years as a replacement vs try this again.

This thermometer was unfortunately inaccurate. I have used it multiple times and find that my chicken, beef, etc. gets overcooked when I set it to the "right" temperature for medium rare, medium, etc. The good thing about it is that the probe is longer and actually reaches my stovetop, a major reason I bought it. The negatives: inaccurate temperature, and the probe keeps beeping when it reaches the temperature I set. Often, I will keep it plugged in to watch the temperature while it continues resting in the oven, but this thermometer keeps beeping on and on and won't let me see the temperature quietly beyond what I had set. Time for me to shop for a new thermometer.

This product is ok for cooking meat to a specific temperature but terrible at everything else you need a food thermometer for. You must select a temp set point either by one of the default buttons or manually dialing in a temp (which takes a long time). Once that temp is reached it will not stop beeping. There is no mute button or switch to silence it not is there a non alarm mode. If you want to measure the temp of something as a quick check, it beeps, if you want to monitor oil temp while frying something on the stove it beeps (frying is always a game of adjusting burner flame so the temp fluctuates) cross your desired temp by one degree and it beeps until the temp coasts back below the set point. It would be a 5 star product if it had a mute switch or a non alarm mode but it is a 0 star product as it stands for general kitchen use beyond cooking roast beef in the oven.

The SMARTRO ST54 is an easy to read instant display cooking thermometer for the BBQ or stove. I have used mine so far for BBQ, Stove Top and Sous Vide cooking. As a user you can quickly select the standard cooking temps for Beef, Fish, Hamburgers, Pork and Chicken or you can set your own specific alarm temperature on one or both probes. The included probes are very well made with stainless leads and long probe ends which keep your fingers away from the real heat when you hold them by the silicone grips. I checked the accuracy with my very expensive Sous Vide machine and the resulting readouts were within a degree so I figure you can trust this thermometer. The face of the case is stainless steel with two switches on the plastic back. One to set fahrenheit vs celsius readings and another to turn on the unit, choose timer or cooking display. Part of the simplicity is the fact that this unit is not Bluetooth capable with no need to use an App or a Smartphone. You use this the old fashioned way, like your dad did - if he even had a BBQ thermometer? (Probably didn't), but of he did, he would have used something like this.... simple and easy to understand.
