Received product and accidentally dropped as I was about to test it out. Started beeping and wouldn’t turn off. Digital numbers on the screen was glitching so couldn’t even use. Now, I’m going to go drop $100 on a better quality one.

I knew taking a risk on this was just that, a risk. I should have been smarter and tested it out as soon as it came rather than taking it out of the box on Christmas morning to use on our rib roast. When I opened it and turn it on by opening the probe, the thermometer just started beeping fast and the display just had 8’s on it. I opened up the battery compartment and went to look for another battery of the same type. Unfortunately I only had one, but putting that one with one of the original ones it seemed to work. It would display the temp and not rapidly beep. I put the compartment back together and placed it in the roast. The display showed 32.9 but then jumped to 49.3 then 51.5 then it would bounce between 49.3 and 51.5. The roast had just come out of the refrigerator so I knew it should be close to the 32.9 temp. It would never stabilize. Then after a minute or so, the rapid beeping started and the display went back to all 8’s. At this point I took it out and opened op the battery compartment. I noticed if I was holding the batteries down in the probe, the device worked. I placed a small piece of the foam in the battery compartment on the backside where the metal doesn’t need to touch, and put the cover back on. It seemed ok, for about 30 seconds. At this point I text a friend to see if they had a probe and then tossed this in the trash. Do not risk a real cook to this thermometer. Saving money is always wise, but this isn’t saving money. My old meat thermometer melted. Ordered this as a replacement. With cooked pork or chicken, the temperature would rise and then all of a sudden plummet. The last time I used this, I put the thermometer in the pork, then removed it to put it in another piece of pork and the metal point thing came out of the base. I will be returning this and will follow up this review with that experience and process. ... show more
